Great advice, would a clipping with a mower serve as a substitute for the first nop grazing ? We graze cattle/horses and it seems that at that early stage of newly seeded grass we see quite a bit of damage from trampling and roots being pulled
Mowing is a great idea if the animals grazing are likely to do damage when doing that first nip off. Whipping over with a tractor mower (as long as it’s not too wet) and leaving a good 6-7cm residual behind is perfect. And just make sure the grass isn’t too long, so just as soon as the new grass is passing that pull test. For the second grazing with animals shortly after this, the grass would have thickened up a bit, so less likely to be vulnerable to damage.
