    Bobby is weird. He obviously trains like a ufc fighter, fights other ufc fighters, and IS a ufc fighter…but then he goes out there and fights like a dude on the street. It doesn’t help when he goes onto podcasts and talks himself up to be this gruesome, cold-blooded killer, then does what he always does in his matches (swings his arms and prays to god)

    No. Aleks threw the kitchen sink at Jiri. He withstood the best Rakic had, every weapon, whilst he was still fresh and had energy. Rakic landed the better shots in the second round, after Jiri started dominating and was landing less. The leg kicks diminished (his foot looked wrecked) and Jiri broke him down. Jiri ducked a hell of a lot of hits. And a headkick appeared to be the breakthrough. That's not just biting down. That's tactically changing what you are doing.

    I dislike that he got ahead of everyone so quickly. He just came in and got handed the top contenders. Didnt earn it at all. Did not climb the ranks. However. He kept winning. For being new in the sport. That cannot be ignored. My two favorite fights he had were cain and overeem.

      @@Karmaarz Yes, he was. Alex had barely got a glove to Jiri's face until he did... and he made it count. Good for him. But then we got an early stoppage, so... it got the upper hand, but it didn't win the fight.

    • @Karmaarz
      @Karmaarz Před 16 hodinami

      @@GuerillaCatty73 punching his face isn’t the only way to win. Jiri would only land his jab while Alex was kicking his leg the whole time having his fall and stumble every 30 seconds.

    • @GuerillaCatty73
      @GuerillaCatty73 Před 15 hodinami

      @@Karmaarz No. For starters, you are putting words into my mouth. No one said punches are the only way to win a fight. It's MMA, FFS. Calf kicks are designed to accumulate damage and if vicious, steal complacency and planning from the opponent. They can't stay standing there working out an angle if their leg is just getting pounded. Yep. If it had gone to three rounds and Aleks hadn't fallen off, be curious how Jiri would have ended up. But he wasn't stumbling etc. Why do you have to exaggerate to "be right"? You shouldn't have to do that. The kick that got the greatest howl from the judges and crowd looks like Jiri bent down to try and catch Rakic's leg, so not pure stumble. And possibly now creating a doubt in Aleksander's mind about throwing too many and Jiri starting to read them. But he pulled back on the quantity in the second round. So that weapon was less present. Which is also now less of a distraction for Jiri. Jiri doesn't have to just push through... Rakic hasn't paced himself, and Jiri is now tagging him... which is now creating more problems for Rakic. Which is also adding more hesitancy to his attack that wasn't an issue in the first round. He mostly was getting counter punches, now, not creating anything himself. (Except for that one beautiful strike where his hand/wrist/arm/elbow slid across Jiri's face, set up by the smallest feint and striking on the offbeat. Totally set Jiri up, and that's when Jiri bends his knees, may have gotten a tiny wobble and had to wait for it to pass.) He had staph, he admitted he felt tired in the second round. He didn't pace his fight better - for understandable reasons... Jiri was pressuring him from the start, so he threw everything he had in that first round. It is bog standard when you are getting that assault that your own attack is muted. It's so busy. But in all of that amazing work, giving his best, everything he had, he didn't come close to getting a result in that first round. Jiri was ducking the ones that may have finished him. Which means, he was reading Aleksander most of the first round. Despite how comprehensive Aleksander's first round was. Basically, Jiri was just quiet in the first round, couldn't find the opening. But he was pressuring Aleksander, and it worked... Aleks threw too much into the first round... and didn't get a result for it. All a lot of this means is that it was Jiri's day, he was the smarter fighter and got the win. I don't know why you have to pretend the fight was something it wasn't. And people totally gave Aleksander his dues. It was a good showing after a two year absence, the qualities were there... he just ran into a Jiri freight train. It is what it is.

    If you actually watched that fight then you know Jiri looked terrible I would be very worried for him getting an immediate rematch against Alex after a performance like that. He was losing the entire fight getting out struck and out skilled until he just bit down on the mouthpiece and used raw physicality to win. Jamahal also looked terrible he came back way too fast 6 month turnaround for a torn Achilles is ridiculous; never should have been in the cage with a guy like Alex coming off that injury. Next title shot should go to Ankolaev he’s the most deserving contender right now maybe Ulburg if he gets past hill after that.

So Helwani even asking the question that way is either dumb, or a subtle shot at Lesnar himself.
