    Great video! Could you recommend a resource that has the Belizean names for the birds? Most of my friends here don’t know the English names. Many have a Spanish name, but some sound Mayan. I have the Jones text, and Merlin on my phone. A reference with the local names would have me well set.

      Thank you. Jones' "Birds of Belize" has Maya names for many species in the text portion, "Other Names", right after the latin name.

Yes, we did meet at the Guacamallo Bridge as you were returning from the Caracol! And that is exactly where the Black Phoebe in Version 13 was filmed! Version 15 consists of clips filmed over the course of 15 years and many different cameras/lenses were used. All cameras were digital though the ones used for the first several years recorded to tape. Later year cameras recorded to SD cards. Most cameras over the years were Sony with the most recent bodies being A7s, A7sii, A7iii and A7siii.

    There are differences and similarities between peafowl and turkeys: Similarities: • peafowl and turkeys are large gamebirds • peafowl and turkeys lave large tails Differences: • peafowl have longer tail feathers than turkeys • peafowl live in the old world while turkeys live in the new world • peafowl and turkeys belong to different families, peafowl are in the subfamily Pavoninae within the family Gallidae while turkeys are in the subfamily Meleagridinae within the family Tetraonidae

    • @nostalgiakarlk.f.7386
      @nostalgiakarlk.f.7386 Před 6 měsíci

      Actually, they are both in the same family, Phasianidae. However, turkeys are more closely related to grouse, while peafowl are in their own tribe within the Phasianidae, Pavonini.

    • @indyreno2933
      @indyreno2933 Před 6 měsíci

      @nostalgiakarlk.f.7386, nope, Phasianidae is polyphyletic, the family is now restricted to only the pheasants, monals, yejakuns, tragopans, and sonakebaters, whereas the roulouls, old world partridges and quails, grouse, turkeys, koklasses, chickens, shizurens, francolins, spurfowl, senlinaos, ropohons, jinegus, daoiren, peafowl, arguses, nartakees, wajameras, rohutans, snowcocks, chungchis, alavorona, and shabalrimals are relocated to four separate families: Rollulidae for the roulouls, Perdicidae for the old world partridges and quails, Tetraonidae for the grouse, turkeys, and koklasses, and Gallidae for the chickens, shizurens, francolins, spurfowl, senlinaos, ropohons, jinegus, daoiren, peafowl, arguses, nartakees, wajameras, rohutans, snowcocks, chungchis, alavorona, and shabalrimals, while the roulouls (family Rollulidae) are the sister group to the family Phasianidae, the families Perdicidae (Old World Partridges and Quails), Tetraonidae (Grouse, Turkeys, and Koklasses), and Gallidae (Chickens, Shizurens, Francolins, Spurfowl, Senlinaos, Ropohons, Jinegus, Daoiren, Peafowl, Arguses, Nartakees, Wajameras, Rohutans, Snowcocks, Chungchis, Alavorona, and Shabalrimals) are all more closely related to the family Odontophoridae (New World Partridges and Quails) than to Phasianidae (Pheasants, Monals, Yejakuns, Tragopans, and Sonakebaters), with Perdicidae being the closest to the family Odontophoridae and the families Tetraonidae and Gallidae being more closely related to each other than to other extant gamebird families, in fact, there are officially now nine extant families of gamebirds: Megapodiidae (Megapodes), Cracidae (Curassows, Guans, Chachalacas, and Pollopavo), Numididae (Guineafowl), Rollulidae (Roulouls), Phasianidae (Pheasants, Monals, Yejakuns, Tragopans, and Sonakebaters), Odontophoridae (New World Partridges and Quails), Perdicidae (Old World Partridges and Quails), Tetraonidae (Grouse, Turkeys, and Koklasses), and Gallidae (Chickens, Shizurens, Francolins, Spurfowl, Senlinaos, Ropohons, Jinegus, Daoiren, Peafowl, Arguses, Nartakees, Wajameras, Rohutans, Snowcocks, Chungchis, Alavorona, and Shabalrimals), each of these families is divided into subfamilies, for the megapodes (family Megapodiidae), the subfamilies are Alecturinae (Brushturkeys and Malleefowl) and Megapodiinae (Scrubfowl and Maleo), for the Cracidae family, the subfamilies are Oreophasinae (Pollopavo and Fossil Relatives), Ortalidinae (Chachalacas), Penelopinae (Guans), and Cracinae (Currasows), for the guineafowl (family Numididae), the subfamilies are Agelastinae (Long-Necked Guineafowl) and Numidinae (Short-Necked Guineafowl), for the roulouls (family Rollulidae), the subfamilies are Rhizotherinae (Long-Billed, Dulit, Black, and African Roulouls) and Rollulinae (Crested, Ferruginous, and Tree Roulouls), for the Phasianidae family, the subfamilies are Lophophorinae (Monals, Yejakuns, Tragopans, and Sonakebaters) and Phasianinae (Pheasants), for the Odontophoridae family, the subfamilies are Dendrortyginae (New World Partridges) and Odontophorinae (New World Quails), for the Perdicidae family, the subfamilies are Coturnicinae (Old World Quails) and Perdicinae (Old World Partridges), for the Tetraonidae family, the subfamilies are Pucrasiinae (Koklasses and Fossil Relatives), Meleagridinae (Turkeys), and Tetraoninae (Grouse), and for the Gallidae family, the subfamilies are Pavoninae (Peafowl, Arguses, Nartakees, Wajameras, Rohutans, Snowcocks, Chungchis, Alavorona, and Shabalrimals) and Gallinae (Chickens, Shizurens, Francolins, Spurfowl, Senlinaos, Ropohons, Jinegus, and Daoiren).

      @indyreno2933 Před 6 měsíci

      @nostalgiakarlk.f.7386, but that's not always the case, which is why there are now nine extant families of gamebirds: Megapodiidae (Megapodes), Cracidae (Curassows, Guans, Chachalacas, and Pollopavo), Numididae (Guineafowl), Rollulidae (Roulouls), Phasianidae (Pheasants, Monals, Yejakuns, Tragopans, and Sonakebaters), Odontophoridae (New World Partridges and Quails), Perdicidae (Old World Partridges and Quails), Tetraonidae (Grouse, Turkeys, and Koklasses), and Gallidae (Chickens, Shizurens, Francolins, Spurfowl, Senlinaos, Ropohons, Jinegus, Daoiren, Peafowl, Arguses, Nartakees, Wajameras, Rohutans, Snowcocks, Chungchis, Alavorona, and Shabalrimals), gamebirds are also split into two major groups being the suborders Numides (Gondwanan Gamebirds) for the families Megapodiidae, Cracidae, and Numididae and Galli (Laurasian Gamebirds) for the families Rollulidae, Phasianidae, Odontophoridae, Perdicidae, Tetraonidae, and Gallidae, the Galli suborder is split into the superfamilies Phasianoidea for the families Rollulidae and Phasianidae, Perdicoidea for the families Odontophoridae and Perdicidae, and Galloidea for the families Tetraonidae and Gallidae, with the superfamilies Perdicoidea and Galloidea being sister taxa to each other, whereas Phasianoidea is basal to both.
