If you want a phone to make and receive phone calls, this is perfect. The mention of it being locked to T-Mobile will depend upon where you get it. Purchased one for my husband from our local phone company (yes, there are still a few of those around), and they are not T-Mobile or any of the other big carriers. He's very happy with it and recommends it.

man... thats a unique voice! have you considered taking singing classes? Your voice is unique and i am sure you would sound amazing with some vocal training. i bet you there are at least 100 band that would love to have your voice on their mic.

Should I get a hand crank radio or ham radio?

I own one. It is less than a year old and is FREEZING UP on me not allowing me to dial out nor text which is rather scary! I turn it off for a few minutes, then back on and that still doesn't fix the problem. When it does that, all I can do is turn it off and on. I cannot look at messages, I cannot call out, it only responds to turning it off!

How much range can you get from this

i got one back in April for when im out riding ATV's & dirt bikes with my Crew. works pretty cool and i can pick up Random chatter with Scan mode. i never used the extra antenna it came with yet. i paid like 200$+ for it from Canadian Tire

Does the new type C version still have both front speakers and back subwoofer for sound? I hope so or I'm returning it. For a small radio it has a great sound profile from speaker when leaned with the included stand on rope (hope it still has) on the table

it is junk. it is good for very short distances. you can walk the distance it broadcasts in 8 to 10 minutes.

hear we go again what you really have is 2 miles range child locater as the radio only has a 1/2 of a watt transmitter under the hood that is what F R S is mens KNOW on the G M R S side you need a license as you are talking 20 miles through a repeater net work. there is your long range 5 watts out put in to a 60 watt repeeater I know as I am a licensed radio operater

Nice presentation. I'm considering buying one but I would like to verify one advertised feature: Advertisement states you can enter waypoints and use the compass screen to navigate to a stored waypoint. Is that true? If so it would be worth the money just for that considering how much handheld GPS units cost these days. Amazon current price is about 115 dollars. Again, nice presentation. 👍

So this radio will transmit and receive on VHF channels 136-174 out the box with no programming? I’m new to these radios, guys in my hunting club want to switch over from CB to VHF/UHF radios. And they want to talk on the channel 139-141 range. I know you suppose to have licenses and all that, but for now I’m just trying to find a decent radio that is capable of transmitting down to 136 VHF that’s user friendly

Why is staying with Micro USB sensible? Genuinely curious to know why you think this. USB Type C is far more durable and useful. Glad it will be coming to the ID-52A Plus though at the runout prices on the ID-52A regular i am tempted.

I would never use or buy a handheld CB radio, because they do not have good transmitting talking distances ! For talking on a handheld radio I recommend using the Yaesu FT-60R radio. It is a VHF radio that has a full 5 watts of power. The transmitting talking distance is amazingly good.

Your speaker comment is a moot point - it is the POWER SUPPLY - just think they put the speaker in the power supply rather than in hte radio case - which is the actuality. Amazed you spent so much time lambasting something that is a non-issue
