Sadly, Karl died suddenly today. He was such a gifted songwriter. I shot this when he played at the Troubador 8 years ago. One of the things I loved about him is that you could often hear his varied influences in his songs, from the Beatles, to the Stones, to Dylan. I feel like he’s channeling John Lennon here. But still an original. Rest in peace, you musical genius.

Tom Bishel and Marisol Barret have taken this gorgeous song with extraordinary lyrics and a melody like no other, and made it their own in this absolutly stunning arrangement with strong vocals by Tom and vocalist Cynthia Brando. Watch it over and over. And then again. It takes an unusual theme with beyond clever lyrics and moves it to the sublime.
