Ok... after all other efforts failed. This still works Sept 11, 2024. I'm a new noob Linux sysadmin but I got it working. User registration has changed totally. This app suite will not allow new user registration shown here. You have to use command line on server to add initial users. The command:register_new_matrix_user got it done. I added myself as admin. Luis Quintanilla had the clue on a snippet website. I got it running on Debian 10 after trying Docker and Ubuntu.

Hey @matrixdotorg your tutorial is perfect. It worked out of the box, with some very minor changes. I am newbie and never setup a synapse / matrix service. Great would be another video about, how to protect the passwords in the text files. Thank you!

I see that there have been a lot of commits lately to implement sliding sync functionality in Synapse. Could you please tell me if this means that in the near future Synapse will support everything needed for Element X without the additional installation of matrix-org/sliding-sync and matrix-org/matrix-authentication-service? If so, do you have any time expectations for when this will be ready? The question is due to the great complexity of implementing matrix-org/matrix-authentication-service. I would like to know if Synapse will support everything necessary for Element X and oidc_providers soon, it will greatly simplify the implementation of Element X.

Now that I have (basic) synapse, element, prometheus, grafana, synapse-admin, MAUbot set up, thanks to your video series. I would love to see the advanced stuff. I mean, I have gone through your blog on using Ansible and I would love to see video on Ansible-vault. yeh, it is not really matrix stuff but it impacts the matrix admin, so ...

matrix_nginx_proxy_base_domain_serving_enabled is not outdated and the new one is matrix_static_files_container_labels_base_domain_enabled if the old one is used, the Ansible will break and stop reporting the issue. It's alright. Just replace it with the new one, which is also reported in the Ansible error report.

I have gone through the whole playlist and I have not seen the promised 'back up' video. Is there still a plan to do that video? I will be waiting.

Really cool to see sliding sync enabled for home servers, and support in Element! Excellent work, and a good sign for things to come!

I don't use it becouse of the lack of moderation, open source and privacy may not mean "freedom of shared anything", at the contrary, security is to not watch or read something dangerous. Too much effort for "privacy" like criminals, but nothing for real security.

I love this but please consider using ZK smart contracts for the voting. There is no point trusting some third party to handle the elections. Everyone should be able to verify their votes without any trust.

Hey guys, is element calls going to be updated on PC? I cant move windows in element nightly while screen sharing and also there is no sound only from the game for example :( And when i sent tiktok video, even with url preview enabled it does not work for this site, its working for youtube but not for tiktok :( any chances of help? :)

TREID TO INSTALL 15 TIMES JUNE 2024, 2 different servers 2 different domains, 3 years later no new tutorial no updates, you guys are just doing this for gov contracts and not really helping the community, Matthew needs to sort it as everyone else has not even bothered to make a tutorial. If you guys put a bit more effort into the tutorial like this one but a new one, much more business's might start noticing your system.
