After nearly two years of trying to establish urological care in my home state of Florida, I finally found a urologist who is not only willing to treat me, but who has trans experience! Seeing Dr. Ross Everett this morning at the University of South Florida in Tampa for a consult for a cystoscopy under anesthesia and Optilume.

February 18, 2024. As of yesterday, I am a year and a half post RFF phalloplasty. I had Stage One with Dr. DeLeon and subsequent urethra repairs with Dr. Santucci, both of The Crane Center in Austin, Texas. Healing has been slow after my last surgery, but sensation is coming in more.

Teams stage things differently, but I had scrotoplasty with my Stage 1. Stage 2 coming up in June will be implants to fill them out.

@@charlesasher That's odd they'd offer, but won't let their own in. I'm glad you stuck closer to home, here's my story with trigger words and descriptions if you want to read it: I went to mayo once for lower abdominal pain, they never even took an xray or anything to see if I had anything going on at the time. They just referred me for "intra-vaginal" physical therapy. And I was dysphoric about that area in the first place. A whole week filled with useless appointments and $1000 later from food and hotel fees was to just have a doctor stick their fingers up there for half an hour pushing on muscles inside to "release their tension" I never went back. I found out later I had a surgical clamp left in me from my first one sided oophorectomy (PCOS). Once I had my hysto and other ovary removed, the clamp was mysteriously gone, and the surgeon who left it in in the first place blamed it on a plastic filshie clip (which clearly was metal and not a clip, in the xrays that were taken at a different clinic). 🤨🙄😒 Fun times. Mayo failed me greatly on that one.

Hello there! Happy future 40th 🥳 It's great that you talk candidly tbh. As much information as we can find out there so we know what it's like, what to ask for (names of each type/stage of surgery. Do you have a choice on what balls will hold (saline, air, other options) when you get your device? I haven't looked into that as much because I don't think my body will behaving if I get any implants of any kind (past experiences). I'm still debating if I want to have metoidio. My body is getting old (almost 50) and I'm noticing it takes longer to heal. Might have to go for a v-ectomy myself soon, the hormones have made it atrophy to almost unusable now which sucks because I like guys, and I really can't do anything "back there" because of medical issues. Weird thing to share with the internet: when I dream about myself, or if I walk past a mirror nekkid in my dream, I see myself with all the right parts. I wake up and wish it would stay like the dream for sure! I've been looking into some places that do phallo and such, and with skin removal surgery from losing weight, they can use that to do phallo instead of use arm/leg skin, which is a good option to know about for anyone in the situation I'm in. Tummy tuck AND a new member, win win! Enjoy the incredible journey good man! You're awesome and I'm so happy you've come so far 👍✌

Thanks for the presentation of 10 months ago. How do you feel today, and how long do Optilume results last?
Unfortunately, my Optilume only lasted a few months before I developed another stricture. I had a BMG urethroplasty in April and that failed as well, so I just did an anastomic urethroplasty on October 20, and so far so good. I do not regret Optilume and am glad I did it bc I would have had to have a suprapubic catheter placed for six + months before I could get a urethroplasty, so it was worth it for me not to have to live with that. Optilume had failed for at least half of the patients before me as well, so it was no surprise. It works for some people and it’s a great non-invasive option.

Your story helps to hear the real story and the ins and outs of things. I thank you so much for sharing! I've been debating a vaginectomy too, so good to know what might happen. They left mine in for now, but after having hysto/ooph, I'm getting the drying/atrophy painful thing and it's not fun. I can't do phallo because my body hates implants/foreign things like surgical clamps and biopsy markers. Metoidio would be my compromise with my body I guess. I wish I could feel the happiness you do, but living vicariously is the next best thing! I'm so happy to hear you're more in tune with yourself, it makes such a huge difference for sure. Top surgery took away probably 50% of my dysphoria, it was so worth it! Awesome idea for tattoos! 🤩 I've wondered about pleasure as well, I had a hernia repair at one time and couldn't get to "the finish line" for months and it scared me! Thanks for being candid about that, with metoidio I know it's a bit different, but good to know how long our bodies take to heal up in general! Wow, that sounds horrible to go through being sick on top of everything! I'm glad you're better, and happy end of thanksgiving weekend to you as well! ✌

I love how you are so grateful, and yes, it's hard to be happy when you are in distress, physical or mental. I know your dad, nana and everyone are there with you in spirit. My dad actually tested positive for COVID, so my family and I are just going to celebrate with our Thanksgiving meal, next weekend, in December. My mom is just putting all my the food in the freezer.
