I just realized that Newt said thank you Minho not because he helped him getting through the last city, but because Minho was his friend and helped him all the time. He knew that Thomas would have a letter to read, ut he wanted to make sure that he also thanks Minho before he dies. Man Newt should have survived. And maybe he has? I mean, if Gally survives a spear through his chest, why shouldn't Newt survive a gunshot/knife...?
