Oh I been searching for squid around hervey bay in winter and no one seems to know where to get em.. or they're not saying :D
Try fishing in 2-4 meters in water (if you have a boat) and fish in the heavy weed areas. Otherwise land based just fish near reefs, weed and rocky structure.

Always fun fishing along there. Worms or even unweighted bread works a treat. Mullet can live quite easily in brackish water but you'll find it's pretty salty quite high up in the Nong.

Compared to the squid bought at the shop, that is nothing. The squid was sustainably caught and quickly put out, it didn’t feel a thing.

Good fishing, as I live in Queensland I don’t usually stop in Melbourne and just go the way to Tasmania where you catch the salmon and squid. The flat head I’ve found are easy catching in Queensland beaches especially in the areas around Hervey Bay to Bundaberg
Yeah thanks mate. Queensland is great I love fishing up there in the estuaries. Melbourne and Victoria has some great fishing in both freshwater and salt. If you ever get a chance stop over and have a fish it will be worth it.
@@FishingDownUnder1 maybe, I don’t usually go freshwater fishing for fish because apart from a couple the fight isn’t a long one and is easy I do enjoy using a pot to catch Redclaw though

Well done guys that one Garfish was huge! Gar fishing like that is good fun I find it more enjoyable than catching em on rod and reel. I used to own a few of those green nets but the mesh is pretty weak I recommend the viva blue ones from Anaconda so much stronger.

Thanks mate! Yeah I know, but there are so many big sand flathead around it won’t phase to keep big ones like that every now and then. I kept it to eat and didn’t waste a single piece.

Have you ever tried fly fishing?
No never. See them sometimes when going to the river. But down here in Victoria Australia fly fishing is very rare. Especially in salt water

How many metres
The depth varied from around 4.5m to about 2.5m. Once you get to the shallower areas, you gotta make sure you work the squid jig a bit faster otherwise you’ll get it snagged.
