For a moment I thought this was by Scott Joplin. Was surprised that this composer seemed to catch the spirit of Ragtime with one piece. Is there any more information on his life?

Tuned in because I am at the Neosho Big Spring Park where James S Scott is claimed on a sign as one of its own. Good music to enjoy while walking around the park.

I’d have trouble being persuaded that James Scott was any less of a genius than Scott Joplin.

One of my favorites. Written as late as 1921 I guess it didn’t have anything to do with WWI - or did it?

Warping aside, this sounds better at .75 speed. IMO, these pieces are played a little too fast.

James Scott snd Joseph Lamb have a very comparable writing style with the left hand especially. It’s like they were cut from the same cloth...or Lamb copied the style. Either way, I love them both.

James Scott Wrote some great pieces however.overall Scotts music its not as well developed as Joplins Scott often writes a strain and repeats it an octave higher a not very sophisticated composing technique Joplin never had any amateur sounding music like Scott however Scotts best rags are outstanding

How about Troubadour, Modesty, and Betty? Those are some of his best.
