Crosswind landing at John Wayne
zhlédnutí 1,9KPřed 11 lety
Pilot uses cross-control technique to navigate gusting crosswinds on approach and landing at John Wayne international airport. A forgivingly wide runway provided an opportunity for a smooth and straight landing, but wind shear just prior to touchdown exceeds the aircraft crosswind component capabilities, and pilot cannot maintain centerline. Conditions: Runway heading 190, wind 250@18 gusting 28

Nice
Whatever way that windscreen worls, it's like watching a 1970's cop film where they're driving around the city.
This doesn’t look like Las Vegas.
You can see the red windsock to the left of the runway right out extended which means at least 25 knots of wind (45 km+ approx) , So hes landing on the left wheel and wind down and dumping down that right wheel and nose wheel without too much fine finesse as its just too gusty and rough and best to just nail it and steer it with controls hard . Not pretty, but very well down and in control!.
More planes should have such an open view forward. Amazing views with little obstruction.
As a pilot, a very good day at the office crosswind landing for these guys and you can see the windsock bottom left filled out to the right showing a 25kt + crosswind. Fun points to observe is the right hand pilot pulls his body to the right instinctively as he expects the pilot to yaw the nose now to the right to line up and lower the wing to land on the left main wheel then right wheel and you can see he touched down with the nose a bit to the left still and it pulled around and then down onto the right and you see him turning the wheel hard to the left after landing to counter the strong wind and keep that left wing pinned down hard and not lift which would be very bad! haha. Very competent mostly text book example and one good to study a few times as an example of how to land safely in difficult gusty conditions.
fast forward to 2 mins, save some of your life because you see nothing anyway, the guys head is in the way!
North Las Vegas airport or Henderson executive?
Exito
Great Job!
Good show.
Post landing underwear change.
Good job.
how near to limits was that crosswind I wonder?
Love it! Great stuff!
Been there, done that multiple times. Everything was okay till I opened the glass door to the FBO, then the wind blew it off the hinges.
Nice job.
Great skills and this video was a treat. Thank you for posting!!!
wow im glad i know how to fly
very nice Capt.
They make it look so easy. I'd be a mess.
damn! that was intense. id love to be a pilot.
Still fighting it on the deck. Well done.
This cross wind is all but "extrem" idiots ...
Popoche We must have a spaceship captain here with 300 years of experience
don't need 300 years of experience, had this cross wind crabbing at school lot of time ^^
You weren't landing in 28 knot crosswinds at a flight school and any trainer you flew wouldn't even be capable of a 28 knot crosswind. A 172 would be on it's back and a Cherokee loses it's aileron and rudder authority around 20 knots. Stop BSing.
bonchie1 But that little kid wants to be a pilot so badly
oh really ^^ come In Britanny, 28 knots is for breakfast :)
Not too bad all things considered.
Very brilliant
wow is landing good no crash
That'll leave bacon strips in the old Jocky's
This is what happened when I flew to Vegas. I thought I was going to vomit.
I thought it was crashed
Really?
I thought it was crashed
I cannot find the words to express my admiration for these guys
good
so. ...the way I see it. ...every time these new prop jockeys land. .....it's always a fuking crap shoot. .....fuk me running. ...wowww 😤😤😤😤😤
Very good job.
I live in vegas
You would feel confident and safe on any flight with these two in the cockpit.
That is basically a nice day up in Edinburgh. Good job, but lucky the wind seems fairly constant!
music
perfect audio for a perfect flight PP-ASEL
yes good job corrected at last moment its perfect
WoW!!!
no wind
great job guys.. that looked quite hairy!
If you think that was hairy, you should see my back!
frankgrimesification right. lol
Tem que dar asa para o vento e pedal contrario dai a aproximação fica mais estável.
that's what you call putting in work
fkn subtitles ruined it.
nice landing!
Great job!
Good stuff
