  • @FAStanswersUofT
    @FAStanswersUofT Před 10 lety

    Hi bbmu1! The Faculty of Arts and Science did a lot of research before instituting the CR/NCR option and discovered that having a CR/NCR next to a course is not at all a bad thing for students applying to professional faculties or graduate faculties in either Canadian or American universities, many of which provide their own students the option. There may be some random medical school somewhere in North America that would rather see a grade than a CR beside a course. But when it comes to medical schools, there are so many other factors that they are looking at for admission that the difference between an admission committee’s assessment of two similar students, one with a CR for a course and another with a percentage grade for all courses, would be like splitting hairs. Graduate schools are looking at academic strength in a specific area of study and will not in any way disadvantage a student who has a CR/NCR, especially considering that the designation can’t be used for courses in a student’s program of study (which is the area students will typically be looking to do graduate work in). Hope that helps!
