Also in this video shows how being lineside is not always plain sailing, especially when 8 or so of your shed mates are on the train...… yeah, And for some reason unbeknown to me it seems every time I go lineside there is a new airport open with planes flying here there and everywhere, silly things!

Severn Valley Railway | What a Season
zhlédnutí 1KPřed 5 měsíci
So the season has come to an end, lets have a look back at some of the best shots from this year, not exactly best moments as such because that has to be about the railway with friends but as far as videos go, here's the best I've got.
Farewell 43106 'Flying Pig'
zhlédnutí 4,4KPřed 5 měsíci
In this video bid farewell to Ivatt 4mt 43106 'flying pig' this means a lot to me as it is one of my favourite locos in the home fleet and the first engine I fired at the SVR thanks to my good friend and driver Ian. Obviously there is no footage of that to be shown on social media, and I was quite busy too. The flying pig is a sole survivor of its class and so means this is the only example lef...

Full farewell video for 43106 'Flying pig' will be released shortly.

This video includes the footage from this Santa special season. wishing all viewers a very merry Christmas and happy new year. over the shutdown period there may be a couple of videos however it is going to be a busy time as a volunteer taking all the Christmas things down at the stations and helping with the Bridgnorth yard floor replacement. For one loco in particular it is a sad time as 4310...
Taw Valley charter & 2968 loaded test

An afternoon filming Taw Valley on an owners rep private charter and 2968 performing loaded tests for one of the first times since overhaul. She should be featuring in the SVR winter gala and hopefully opening the 2024 season. The first 2 shots are taken with valid PTS and should not be reached by anyone without a valid PTS, this is due to the risks with the lineside and the hidden dangers and ...

Nice video from the Spring Steam Gala :)
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it
You got to some great positions for those shots 😀😀
Thank you, most of it is PTS though unfortunately
McDonald’s fast food is slightly better than Burger King in UK 💨🥘🍔👑
What a fabulous collection, and those Pannier tanks....amazing little engines.
Amazing realistic model railway
Nice video, but a bit sad
Yes, it was a very sad event for myself too with her leaving service 😢
I can't believe its been 10 years since she came back into service. I remember when she came out from her last big overhaul as she was a bit more shinier and I do remember the little pig mascot hung up in the cab.
Hopefully she will steam again. Providing the ownership issues get sorted out.
@@SVRSteam hopefully that issue can be resolved.
In that first shot (of 7812), it’s my head in the first window of the second coach. That run up to Bridgnorth was the best - and loudest - run along the Valley I’ve ever experienced, in over 25 years of visiting. Memorable gala!
I'm glad you enjoyed the gala. Hopefully you can enjoy it some more this year 👋

Gotta love a 57xx GWR pannier
@@SVRSteam any of their many pannier types and the little and large prairies 🤩
@oldfatbastad6053 Ooh yes, even better. Love a large priarie. Small ones are quite nice too. E.g 4566 and 5164/4150
2024 season no Flying Pig or Taw Valley. But there will be the Manors, the stanier mogul 2968, the Pannier 7714 and hopefully by the end of the year it sounds like 1450 and 813 may be in a position to be nearing repairs. Also note on the diesel side the 2 car DMU is back in service and is no longer a static ornament at Bewdley.
Indeed however we will only have 1 Manor. Once Bradley returns to service it is planned that we will keep Bradley and Erlestoke will go to the WSR (wizzo) as for 813 and 1450 especially I've not heard much on there status. We hope by late this year Early next year will see 4150 back into service but don't quote that it is not officially confirmed just a rough estimate that can change
@SVRSteam Due to being a volunteer, I get the emails from SVR giving news about what is going on. Apparently the company re-making the casting for 813 have correctly made the part they got incorrect the first time. 1450 is nearly ready for its boiler to be reunited soon as well.
@@bentullett6068 I must have missed that email. Is that from M.White on the Friday update by any chance. (I volunteer at bewdley MPD)
@@SVRSteam it's in the latest SVR Branchlines email.
@bentullett6068 Ah ok 👍 Apparently EMF are taking 7812 back to wizzo and giving us 7802 when it is ready. Can't remember who from EMF said but someone told me.
I miss the 28.
Me too, let's hope it will have a speedy Overhaul 🙏
Great video! I was there and had a pleasant weekend!
It was indeed a good weekend. With many sad meanings for myself
@@SVRSteam Likewise but good to see 2968 running again.
Jason Brockwell likes trains because my friend does it
Nooooooo! I hope to god they get her back in steam asap, she’s a staple and shame she’s not able to run at the same time as the Stannier Mogul!
Depends on how quickly the MPD at Bridgenorth get through the remaining locomotives they are working on as there are quite a few home locomotives to finish off and contract overhaul repairs.
Very great done video :)
Thank you
Nice video great camera work as usual bye for now Philip
Thanks mate, really appreciate it
'What a beautiful noise, coming up from the banks" to quote a song of long ago. ( Neil Diamond ). And poor Duck, was he having a Thomas moment and forgot his train ?? Lol 🤣🤣🤣. Brilliant video though, thanks 👍👍👍👍
Haha 😄 Yes indeed. Fortunately, 7714 was scheduled to be a light engine. Much to his relief 😂
Some great footage there. The Pannier running light engine was great to see. Have a great Christmas.
Thank you, Merry Christmas matey 🎄
The style of every era has its own type of beauty, sometimes even with industrial machines. As here.
I’ll soon be coming here first thing for the diesel event this month in December and by the turn of next year I’ll be here again for the winter steam event hopefully I’ll see 2968
Nice to have 7812 back after spending time away in Somerset
👍

No Manors coming to SVR yet for a moment until when comes back in action
Erlestoke Manor 7812 is currently running santa specials and is stationed at Bewdley MPD until the end of the season. It has just came back from Overhaul and will be running on the SVR regularly as a home fleet loco.

Interesting to see a rebuild sporting a Southern livery!! Superb!
Although Taw Valley didn't carry the livery in it's working life it was painted to be used at the 1940s event. After it carried tge queen Elizabeth 2nd livery.
Nice
Thank you, appreciate it

Nice video
Nice video nice sound from 75069
Oh just you wait for Erlestoke Manor! Was a beautiful sight though.

Yay she's back. Also Accurascale have got the detail right on the model
Erlestoke’s Parish in Wiltshire and GWR Manor Class
She looks beautiful and sounds magnificent
Thank God it will return to being 42968. Most enthusiasts are sick to the teeth of pre-BR liveries. Hardly anyone alive can remember even a glimpse of pre-BR stream. The era we witnessed, remember and miss is the 1948-68 BR era. That's what we want recreated. We are not locomotive historians, just former trainspotters and photographers. We will stop visiting heritage lines if they keep parading locos in pre-war or other non BR liveries.
The only reason it is in pre BR livery is because this is authentic for how this loco started life. Some people like authenticity so this is for them. After this year it will take its BR livery and number of 42968
Those rusty pipes can use a lick of paint.
The covers have not yet been put on while testing is in action as if there is a fault found they will only have to come off again more than likely. They will have painted covers over them when it enters service.
Slight correction: she will go into the paint shop and reappear in fully lined LMS livery as No, 13268, returning her to as-built condition.
She will do but I think she will hold this livery for winter gala and then be painted over the winter maintenance period ready for reopening.
43106 turns to face south again soon on severn valley railway
It has yes
Hi mate, was this taken today? If so I was there also 😂
It was taken Saturday 14th Oct. So yesterday yes
When I was a kid there was hardly any steam action (up north). I was never spoilt. So to me, ONE big engine at steam is a miracle, any more is a huge bonus. When I went to a SVR gala a few years ago I was gobsmacked. I didn’t know that much stuff existed, never mind worked every day! Bravo SVR!
Absolutely, make sure to visit the SVR again in the future. It is magical to see them run definitely. Takes me back to an era I never got to see.
@@SVRSteamSVR gala timetables are crazy! I saw services timetabled at 2am, how do they get enough volunteers for driving, signalling, ticket inspecting and guarding at 2am! And who is crazy enough to ride these services at 2am lol! Its amazing to see though
@BrokenIET It is for people to see steam at night as it is a magical feeling but primarily for those who can't get accommodation throughout the gala public or staff they have it as a mobile hotel and sleep on the train. It's one extra crew, one guard, and the signalman switch over at mid day every day more or less. It's complex but doable, which makes it enjoyable and exciting.
It was a good gala this year. Some improvements to the timetable need addressing though as there did seem to be many delays, possibly due to the locals services shunting at stations.
Delays are unfortunately unavoidable in some cases. There were many reasons for Delays such as lineside fires with the fire service requested line block for nearly an hour on Friday night, the number of movements, passenger numbers at stations making boarding longer than it was planned. Etc The railway does try it's best to stay on time and make up time lost it's just on a Gala everything is reliant on everything else so it only takes one delayed train to get to a passing point later and then the other train is late departing and it has a knock on effect. I'm glad you enjoyed the gala. Make sure you get tickets for the winter and spring!
Hi
Hello
Last Saturday after volunteering at Bewdley decided to have a quick ride to and from Highley. Had the Western going from Bewdley to Highley and after a 15-20 minute delay Hagley Hall on the return.
Nice I was there that day too.
Hopefully next year the NYMR will have both their Black Fives in traffic. Does two Black Fives make a Black Ten?
Only if they are coupled together
We had a fantastic time riding the trains for my birthday a few years ago while staying in Whitby.
Very nice, I too stayed in whitby! Part 2 is now out!
