    I have one of these that i bought in 2012 and it still holding strong. The walls and roof have not warped, only issue is the skylights broke due to a hail storm recently. I called Rubbermaid but they no longer make my model so i cant get replacement skylights…gonna have to invent something myself to fix them. I recommend these sheds, just make sure it is set on concrete for best installation.

    that was too much unecesary work if painting mdf doors or cabinets do two coats of bin primer sanding with 320 or 400 in between coats completly remove all dust by vacuming and tack cloath then apply two coats of water/urathane based paint sanding with 400 grit sand paper youll get the best finish ever

    Only reason I watched this video was I needed the dimensions of that base. The one that took seven cuts on a table saw and another day with no mail waiting for the glue to cure. For a second I thought you finished the mailbox and moved on to a butchers block. It's a nice post though thanks for the effort.

    That trellis looks great! A quick question about the lumber. It appears to be untreated lumber. How long would you expect that to last outdoors without reapplying paint? I'm not sure, for example, how you'd be able to paint it after a mature climbing rose has been trained all throughout the lattice. Thanks in advance!!

  • @dirtwhisperer658
    @dirtwhisperer658 Před 2 lety

    That is almost exactly how I did the base for my 7x7 Craftsman shed. 16" pavers 6 across comes out to 8ft. I went ahead and made it 1 block longer so I would have extra in front of the doors. Get bags of paver base which is crushed stone to put on top of the dirt. One thing that makes leveling the pavers MUCH easier is to get bags of sand from Lowes. Just toss some sand under each paver location and check for level. I made a wood template out of plywood which helped a little to get an idea how level it was. It's a big pain to keep picking up those heavy pavers trying to level them. I would not recommend going any bigger than 16". If you are a real gorilla I guess you could do the 20" size. After the pavers are all laid out broom some elastomeric sand into the joints and spray it down with a hose and it bonds them all together like tile grout does. So after I put the shed up I had 6" over on the sides and back and about 22" in front. Good job with the video BTW. I like how the old man came out and provided "moral support". LOL. Oh 1 more thing. Put down a layer of plastic under the sand and paver base directly on top of the dirt. It will keep moisture out of the shed.

    • @guate6
      @guate6 Před 2 lety

      So dirt -> plastic -> paver base -> sand -> paver yes?

    • @dirtwhisperer658
      @dirtwhisperer658 Před 2 lety

      @@guate6 Yes. If I could I would send photos. Remove the grass / sod trying to keep it as level as possible to help with leveling of the paver base. Tape a level to a 2x4 to create one big level you can move around the site. I cut the sod out in strips and used them to fill in low places in the yard.

    One of the best looking benches on here made of wood. It's real sturdy. I found it easier to stain and run a light layer of sealer to the edges of the slats before I assemble. I hate having to waste time getting into those hard-to-reach places when I'm so close to the end. Did you put any leather or synthetic patches under the legs to protect them? Also, since this video is 4 years old, is there anything you would have done differently to this piece with 4 more years of wisdom and hindsight?
