How do i get the power / strength to click shut? I understand the speed adjustment part/ I'm in a block of flats, i'm on ground floor & the main door when folk go out, the door doesn't click shut (its supposed to be a secure entry with intercom etc.) the door closes over but cant deal with the resistance to actually click shut. it used to click shut so it needs adjusted but as i watched video i didnt see example of this adjustment.
Hi. in the video, there are 2 adjustments - one for speed from fully open from around 90* to 15* and the other adjustment is the latching adjustment - from 15* to close. In the video, on our closer the latch adjustment is in the middle of the of the speed adjustment. You may find that the resistance can be cured by spraying some WD-40 or similar onto the latch to reduce the friction.. Good luck, Paul.
Thanks very much :) @@PaulHarperSmith
Thank you for this video.
You’re welcome. Hope it helped.
Hello i have tighten the allan key entry so many times but the door slams even harder Why?what am i doing wrong? Lisa Thank you
How to apply oil
You cannot add oil as they are sealed units.
if someone slams the door shut, will it still slam with a closer installed?
If a closer is fitted, the door is controlled, closes on its own and if someone tries to slam it, it puts a brake on to prevent it.
How can i adjust the power to open the door because it is difficult for my children to open it please help me i am in tension.
Hi, can you send some photos of the door closer that you have? Thank you.
Just TELL HOW TO ADJUST IT. NOT MAKE IT. !
Surely you must have realised that at the start but seem to have the time to write and post 2 comments?
Hurry up!!!’ This is soooo fxxxing SLOW!
This is the first negative comment so thank you for that. The video was made to simply explain to anyone how to do it themselves but if you're experienced and don't need to know the reasons behind what the adjustments do, then maybe the wrong video for you. Apologies.
Sorry to trouble you, but what is the difference between "latch" action and "no latch" action?
Hi Pat. The difference is that if you have a latch on the door, you need to select the latch action setting, but if there is no latch such as a corridor door, then select no latch action. Hope this helps. Regards, Paul.
You will need to select latch action, if you have a latch on the door, as that gives more strength to overcome the resistance of the latch spring, so the door closes.
@@PaulHarperSmith Oh! I get it! When I have been to certain buildings there are doors which swing beyond the middle then swing back to centre. Thank you very much.
@@patb8985 if there are no latches, there is no resistance to overcome so the no latch position finally closes the door more gently and quietly.
very helpful, thanks
Straight to the point 👍
Talk about a coincidence, I was fixing the close on my front door and the guy in the video once helped me into my flat as a locksmith! What are the chances...
Fame at last!! Hope the video helped sort out your closer.
Thanks

My eldest daughter went off to university 1st year last week! And the kitchen area is right next to her room. The door slams so loud that she gets woken up all hours! She decided to stay in and have early night on Thursday while the other 6 flatmates went out, they trickled in between 4-5am where each of them went back and forth the kitchen. Not 1 of them had a screw driver 🤣 so amazon screwdriver set I'd being ordered and posted to her right this second and this video will get her some great sleep
Hi Lisa - sorry for the delay as I had a bit of an issue logging in! If your daughter has any problems with the adjustment or it is a different one to the one in the video, please feel free to call us for assistance. We have helped others using Facetime in the past. And thank you for your comments - much appreciated.
I'm so embarrassed I didn't know this already. Many thanks.
No-one knows everything! Happy to help.
Can all door closers on fire doors be slowed down?
Hi Max. All door closers on fire doors should be adjustable. If you would like to email a photo of the one you have, we can have a look and see? Thanks for watching!
Clear and well explained. Nice one Paul!
Thanks, Alex!
My device was a little bit different, but with your clear and to the point video it was easy to work out what does what. Thank you for the video.
Glad the video helped!
What maintenance is possible - can we lubricate the mechanism?
Hi Manuel, these are sealed units so the only maintenance is to ensure all fixings are secure and only the pivot points can be lubricated. If there is a latch on the door, this can be lubricated too. Regards, Paul
There only seems to be one screw on the Hebron 6200 and nothing I do seems to make any difference. Do you have any suggestions?
Hi Kate, do you mean Jebron 6200? Could you email me a couple of photos for me to see and I can get back to.you? Thank you., Paul
Awesome video, thank you...straight to the point, gave me exactly the info I needed and I just adjusted my first door :D #winning
Excellent job, Rachel - well done!
Great video, very easy to follow and very useful, thanks. The only missing thing is showing the adjustment being done and how the closing has changed.
Thanks, Blue Sky.
lol, there is nothing about the Tension of the closer the power in other words.
Hi Tariq. Most door closers have a preset tension (size 3) to ensure they meet fire regulations however there are some that are adjustable from 2 - 4. There are also easi open ones used on nursing homes. Thanks for the question.
Thank you!!
Hope it helped!
Thank you for taking the time to make this video
Hope it was helpful
Thank you very much. This solved my problem with slamming doors. Cheers!
Excellent
Clearest description of closer adjustment I've come across. Thank you Sir.
Thank you, Richard - happy to help.
Hi Paul, Any ideas how I would get into this closer? s22.postimg.cc/b785mp1k1/Door_Closer_01.jpg, s22.postimg.cc/5x36v1emp/Door_Closer_02.jpg, s22.postimg.cc/g75luac81/Door_Closer_03.jpg. The cover doesn't seem to clip off or anything.
What tool did you use to adjust?
Hi Ali Law, You can use a small slotted screwdriver for the inner screw and a wider one for the outer adjustment. Hope that helps!
Hey wonder if you can help. I have a door closer that says on the side "Super Lynx by Yannedis" and I cannot work out how to get inside it. There is one screw on the underside but that looks more like an adjustment screw than a case screw and there are no other screws I can find to get the cover off. This one does seem to have broken down and we could do with getting it off the door.
Hi, it may be one that the cover is clipped on and just pulls off? Can you send a photo? Thanks. Paul
Hi Paul, Thanks for your reply. Here are some photos of it. uploadpie.com/4z5i9p uploadpie.com/JQO5lw uploadpie.com/X2zlsD. There doesn't seem to be a gap big enough to even fit a screwdriver in to ease it open.
Thanks! Literally 30 seconds and no more door slamming!
Happy it helped!
Thank you, that's just the info I needed!
Excellent!
well done mate!
Thanks
