Welcome to the Origin Flower Farm CZcams channel! I'm Victoria, a flower farmer and floral designer in Northern Ireland. My design style is 'wild and romantic', with all our flowers being grown organically and sustainabily.
I am excited to share my journey with everyone on CZcams. I really want to connect with all of you who love flowers and flower growing, whether on a farm, or in your garden - so jump into the comments and share your own journey or ask me some questions!
We run workshops, style events and design beautiful wedding flowers throughout the year. Our workshops are as relaxing as they are informative and we love creating space for wellness and retreat.
Our weddings are wild and romantic with all the seasonal pickings that lend themselves to beautiful displays. We sell flower bouquets from March until October. Our seasonal bouquets are eco friendly and harvested straight from our fields. We also host private parties, hen parties and birthday parties.

That means very early starts and very late nights. I captured a little of the process in this video, also letting you see around the flower farm, and giving some thoughts as we go. I hope you enjoy. All that camera action has made me sick to my belly…gorgeous dahlias though! 😀
Well, our hero got at least 1 right 😜 Happy St. Patrick's Day from USA zone 8a!🍀
Beautiful, I have just gotten in to dahlia’s. So thankful I do not have to dig up every year. I can winter over in the ground. I have a tiny cottage with a small garden and I have more flower beds then lawn. Thank you for your beautiful inspiration.
Aw that sounds lovely! They are a fabulous flower. Happy growing!
Class x
Love seeing behind the scenes as well as the lovely wreathes! So much thought and preparation into each workshop. Thank you and keep going!!! ❤
Thank you! It's a lot of work and a lot of fun!
Gorgeous! Such a fun atmosphere!
It really was. Thank you for watching!
Beautiful video. Have a wonderful Christmas!
Thank you! & Hope you face a fabulous Christmas too ❤️
Hi, Where are you located? Best, Albert
Hi Albert, the North Coast of Ireland
Thank you for sharing your info with me! Ireland is a beautiful country; hope we can visit it some day. Best, Albert, SF, USA
Thank you so much. I’m going to buy more hedging ❤
Thank you for watching. The more hedging the better!
So pretty
Dahlias are so beautiful x
Lilac Perfection is one of my favorites!
Amazing! 💕
Hey, when talking about #5 Jowey Nicky, in the video you have that super purple dahlia in the background with dark stems. What’s the name of that one , please?
Hi ☺️ it's 'Marcel Dassault' such a pretty dahlia
I’m so glad I found your channel. I’ve been enjoying your videos. Forgive me if you’ve answered any of these questions in previous videos, but what size are your poly tunnels and what zone are you in? Thank you!
Oh thank you for watching! The polytunnel are different sizes. Two of them are 16ft x 60ft, one is 16x 54, and the one we use for events is 24ft x 48ft. I am in zone 8/9 😊
I'm in zone 9b (Florida) and ordered ranunculus. We'll see how they do in my climate. I find snapdragons and strawflowers do well here so that's my go during the cooler months.
Ooh fab! Does it get cold with you? I've been to Florida once, absolutely beautiful and very hot! 🤣
@@OriginFlowersNI yes, very hot and humid. This year was one of the hottest ones I've experienced. It can get cold for a few days in January or February but it's relative. What your body reacts to is the drop in temperature. During winter months one day can be in the 30's and the next day in low teens so the change in temperature is what makes it feel cold where as if it was further up north the lower temp wouldn't be a bid deal.
It would be really helpful if the video had written names of these flowers, as I don't quite catch some of their names
Will do for next time ☺️
And/or photos for reference.
Here you go.... Larkspur - Misty Lavender (from Chiltern Seeds) Ammi Clarkia (from higgledy gardens) Corn Cockles Sweet Rocket (latin name: hespersis) Baby's Breath - annual Chrysanthemums (smaller daisy look) Sweet Pea Stock (yellow, avalanche, apple blossom) Verbascum (perennial) Japanese anemonies (perennial) Snapdragons (giant ones, butterfly mix) Yarrow (Latin: achillea) Calendula (sherbert fizz, creme cognac) Ranunculus (size 5-7, Cloni Success Hanoi, rose colored, pastel, champagne, clementine-orange) Tulips Sweet William
I absolutely love ranunculus, they are a staple in my cut flower beds. In fact, I think I will be bumping my stock from 100 to 400 for the 2024 season. I don't start mine until Feb. 1st-ish.
Amazing, prettiest flower ever!
@@OriginFlowersNI Sorry, can't agree, nothing beats a dahlia! They are my hero flower.
Yes, bit obsessed with dahlias too 🤣
I have 5 bags of bulbs an croms..
Wow, will look incredible 😍
Yes please film the venue set up!
Noted! Thank you for watching ☺️
👍👍👍❤️🌹
Really good tips and great to have a UK CZcamsr! However, I think there is probably a big difference between cut flowers for weddings (which only need to last a day or two) and those for the vase? I'm not a big flower arranger, just want to cut a few perennials from the garden and know they will be minimal fuss, and last for at least a week. And I find foliage difficult too as the stems taken from many shrubs wilt really quickly. I would LOVE a couple of videos focussing on foliage (and tips for longevity), and long lasting perennials for the vase.
Brilliant, yes absolutely they are picked at a different stage for weddings as the flowers need to be more open. I will do a foliage video. What a great idea, thank you!
I go away first 2 weeks September every year. This year I had someone to harvest while am away. Last year the Dahlia had said game over by thw time I got back. So nice to come back to healthy flowers.
That's something to look forward to after a busy summer!
Today was definitely not glamorous on our farm. Wet wet wet. Tomorrow looks better though
Missing some September sun!
Would love to know how you store your Dahlia tubers
Oh yes, will show that ☺️
Fab thank you ❤
My perennials saved me this year. I moved annual flower field and had no autumn sown annuals. I have a well established perennial garden at home on half an acre. The down side is there were no flowers in my garden😂
You are very lucky to have established perennials! 🧡
Venue set up would be great x
Delighted to have found your channel. Am growing in Wicklow mountains. @topofthehillflowerfarm 2nd year and have so much to learn
Oh amazing! I'm sure it's stunning with you!
I’ve only recently found your channel and I’ve binged watched your videos! Absolutely love what you’re doing there and really inspired to collect seeds and start growing my own flowers in my small garden. Hoping I can pack a lot into my relatively small space. Thanks for sharing great advice and knowledge 😊
Oh that's so exciting. It's amazing what you can grow in a small space. So rewarding! Thank you for watching and for your lovely comments!
Love the idea of gathering seeds from so many flowers.
Very exciting time of year!
Would your sweet peas not have cross pollinated or will it be true the varieties?
They will be true to form as sweet peas are self pollinating 🧡 thank you for watching 🧡
Great advice Victoria loved the tour! 🤍
Thanks so much! 😊
Vicky! Lovely to meet you yesterday and now I’m obsessed. Off I go to buy and plant 🌱
Yey, lovely to meet you too! Plants are always worthwhile 🧡🧡🧡
I bought 32 new dahlia tubers for this year, and my absolute number 1 is : Maroon Fox So stunning, some colors are hard to capture on photo's... but the dark red/purple is so pretty, ahhh!
Oh yes, Maroon Fox is a beauty!
Loved this. Stunning work. Yes please, would love to see venue work. Thank you for sharing your videos, totally inspirational ❤
Thank you so much!
Beautiful,I would love to grow Dahlias but I have a lot of trouble with slugs! Any advice greatly received!🩷
Slugs are a problem here too 😔 we use our ducks to patrol the field and don't plant out our dahlias until they are established which helps a little!
Another stunning selection Victoria!
Thank you! 😊
Wizard of Oz is definitely one of my favourite ball dahlias. For dinnerplates I never have enough of Labrynth, AC Loomis, Wandas Capella, Wandas Aurora, and Spartacus.
Oh,I love Labyrinth 💕💕💕
Megan Dean is just exquisite. This is my second year with it. We have some choices in common but you are making me think about ones I’ve never considered. Hmmm!
Exquisite is the word! So much choice 🩷
Yes to video of you making the arch and other installations out of water
Will do 😃
Beautiful video and yes, a venue video would be so interesting. Thank you!
Noted! & Thank you for watching!
You are so talented it all looks so beautiful would be great to see venue work. The bridal bouquet is stunning in all the pictures 😍
Aw thank you! Will get on that venue vid ☺️
Lovely video.
Thank you very much!
Just an incredible amount of work going into the wedding prep but it looked amazing.
It really is! And so worth it
Yes, I would be very interested to see you do the venue work! So beautiful cut flower farm you have there! 😍
Ok fab! Will do make a venue vid soon ☺️
@@OriginFlowersNI Thank you! 🤩
Great advice as usual Victoria! Can’t wait to see the results too. 😊
Thanks so much! 😊
Thank you 🙏
You’re welcome 😊 & thanks for watching!
Thank you for that. I've made a note for next year when I will hopefully have some more dahlias in the ground. (starting small, that's me)
Best way to start! Hope all grows well, thank you for watching!
Great tip ❤
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching 🧡
