The biggest misconception in Physics: Newton's Third Law!
In this video I try to help you fix the biggest misconception in physics.
I will not be successful. If the misconception can be fixed in 16 minutes, it wouldn't be a misconception! I've been trying to help students crack this misconception for years, but they still struggle with it.
Let's BAN the use of the phrase "every action has an equal and opposite reaction" forever. It does more harm than good!!!

I think this is one of the nicest calculators ever made. I got two of the Collector's Edition. One for everyday use, and one in reserve. I already bought two of the Limited Edition back then, but the "reserve calculator" died after a few years just sitting in the box (and no, it wasn't just the battery).
They may be ok for physics, but they are not enough for engineering. We need fx-991 or 570 models. And, avoid the CW models at all costs. Not all the Casio calculators are bad, if you know how to use them properly.
What is the yellow thing you kept in it

7:07 Mass pulls the spring down? Surely gravity acting on the mass generates a force that pulls the spring down?
Gravity pulls the mass. The mass pulls the spring. It's a pull force - an electrostatic repulsion.
@@PhysicswithKeith so it's 'the mass' ie the thing with the hook on the top as opposed to Mass as in Mass Length and Time?
@@davidhaworth1802 perhaps I should have referred to it as 'the slotted mass' to reduce the confusion 🤷
@@PhysicswithKeith or even 'the slotted mass hanger' to reduce the confusion even further. BTW good presentation of a difficult topic.

m/s
@@PhysicswithKeith Yes I know that, but that's two marks off in your exam? Also, how have you verified validated and tested your solution? Generally, if it isn't tested it isn't working :)

Great vid, cheers sir
Youre a boss for putting all i just read on wikipedia into a video and working out that crazy part about the right hand rule on the latitude line. That part spun my head right round when i read it. You go keith! You desrves more views bro
Thank you for this. As a biology trained teacher who is now teaching IG Physics and AS next year this is the fundamental knowledge I need to catch up on.
Really informative and never looked at it like that haha! Would love more videos like this keep it up good fellow
I can conform, that the keyboard is really bad: Triggering or bouncing, if you like. But you can't believe your results. I often also have numbers bouncing, not only functions.
Excellent explanation - and I love the video thumbnail!
Thank you. I used a free template from Canva 🤣 I lack the creativity to make my own as pretty as this
Fab video, as an A level maths teacher I always try to make sure I do the mechanics full justice for my pupils, this will be one idea to get across fully at the start of the course
Brilliant! It's so fundamental but so misunderstood by so many people 🤷
Most excellent!
Love the vid Keith and thanks for being a big help in my astronomy GCSE revision 👍
Hi Keith! I did my Astronomy GCSE and your video has been a great help! Thank you so much for teaching me Astronomy.

keith! i finished my gcse in astronomy yesterday and i wanted to thank you for your videos. they have been a great help in my revision and you are an incredible teacher. thank you!!!!!!!!
Thank you so much Keith, your videos have been very helpful for my gcse astronomy exam which i did today and last week!
Hello, I've just finished paper 2 and both papers went well thanks to your videos!
I hope it went well!
Well done I think your gonna get a 9
thank you so much I've revised each video I have paper 2 today I would have definitely struggled without your videos ❤️
thanks so much for everything Keith; you're a life saver! We've got paper 2 today and we're all much better prepared thanks to you.

Thank you Keith! My school started doing gcse astronomy for the current year 10s as an extra course last school year and I was invited to do it (y11) at the beginning of this year. I’ve always had a passion for astronomy and astrophysics and your videos have helped me progress tremendously! Looking forward to the exam tomorrow and to my next 2 years with exploring physics! Wishing everyone here the best of luck!
you know your stuff! Thank you so much Keith for these videos they're so helpful and make the subject many times more interesting. You're honestly saving my GCSE astronomy so a massive thank you to you, Sir!
Thanks for these videos! I have paper 2 on Tuesday and they have really helped with revision.
Same. Good luck. How was paper 1?
That whole headache with the ÷ operator is the reason I only use fractions with a number over another. I find it a lot more intuitive. Not that I can't use ÷, but when I do I always use bracketing everywhere to show exactly what I want it to do, which is a pain, but a lot more consistent between calculators. A fraction is a lot faster to type.
My favourite subject of all - stellar evolution. Keith you are a legend. Massive thank you for the videos. Do you think you'll do an A-level astronomy set? I might look into reading it next year. Interesting seeing the background in your room. Intrigued :) Keep up the good work. I'm thoroughly enjoying it and learning tons!
I'll be back. I will be retaking physics next June 😅😢
Oh, it's early days! Wait for results day
This is absolutely amazing... I struggled with setting it up but it worked perfectly... No more fan noise while recording/streaming

I’d gladly rejoin! :D Question, would/could practice problem or tricky problems be posted for fun? It would be fun and could drive conversation :) Another question lmao, could AP physics be its own section? If not, which other section would fit best?
AP Physics courses vary quite a lot, so it's hard to say. I They would generally be similar to A-Level Physics, I would say.
Thanks so much I have my gcse next Tuesday
Can’t wait to join the discord Kieth your vids have really helped me on my astronomy gcse thanks
Thanks Keith, I look forward to having fun and interesting conversations about physics and astronomy!! YAY!! 🎉
Also I'm your friend Keith <3 but I'm sure you have many others!

Yay thank you Keith!
Just want to say thanks for putting these together. They’ve massively helped me!! I had paper 1 today and I think it went quite well.
Hey Keith been watching your videos on astronomy Ed excel and they have been so helpful into understanding the course thank you
