Don't forget the very helpful staff. I went to Blackheath a few winters ago in the hope of seeing the snow reported to have fallen. A pleasant lunch, very cold outside but no snow. I went for a bit of a walk and the snow started. A quick return to the station and the officer on duty suggested that I wait inside where there were some coals glowing in the grate. A couple of minutes later, she came in to suggest that I catch the next down train to Mt Victoria, make a swift change to the up platform and catch an express to return to Sydney. I gratefully took her advice as it was bitterly cold. I was on a day return on my seniors card so all included in the ticket to Blackheath.

Well done Sydney Trains, or whatever the present title is.. Only stepe to the platform, and no shelter over them and this is in the Mountains, where it does rain every now and then.

A good clip. I can't understand why, given the climate, the steps and foot bridges at the Mountains stations don't have at least a roof or covering. OK, Lawson and Katoomba have their tunnels, but just how expensive would it be to put a roof over the others. It would certainly add to safer of use.
