    Thanks so much for the review, I think that due your review I am going to get the Benro Adventure, it is very similar to Mach3 but Adventure is the version with Flip Locks, I also prefer flip locks. I was deciding between Manfrotto and Benro but after I saw the leg fall (which was hilarius) I think it is normal if you do not do mantenaince. Also the Benro has replacement parts for most of the parts that comes with the tripod so hopefully I won't be needing them. By the way, how are you doing with the tripods?

    Fastest $200 tripod I've got is the E-Image GA752 with mono locking system, just a single knob on top of each leg to release all sections of the legs automatically. It fully extend to 64 inches or contract to 24 inches by pulling the tripod up or push it down, all in one motion. Manfrotto 645 FAST works on the same principle with better built quality but that's $800, and the $1900 Sachtler Flowtech 75 is what the pros uses, also have similar leg system, but not something I can ever afford haha.

    I love this type of comparison and I wish the audio reviewers would do more like it. The general misnomer is that the bigger the brand and or the more money you spend the better the mic is. Not exactly true. First you run into the law of diminishing returns. Sure it might be better but how much better is it compared to how much more you money you spend? A lot of times you wind up paying a lot more for a little gain. So it's up to you to decide if it's good enough for your budget or can you afford the money to get you that much closer to "perfect"? Also note that you can often change and improve the sound in post processing. The next thing to know is that everyone's voice is different as well as every mic has it's own sound profile. One mic can be awesome for some types of voices but abysmal for others. Personally I prefer more flat profile mics, because it usually gives you more room to work with in post. However I mostly record a variety of other people as opposed to myself. If you primarily just record one person you can save yourself some time in editing by finding the best mic for that person for the money. Some mics I recommend are the Shure SM 57 and SM 58. For around $100 US each they are great all around mics that have been staples in the industry for decades. For a shotgun the Sennheiser MKE-600 is a great mic for many situations and a really good price. There are some good mics from Rode, Deity, Audio Technica, and Synco in a similar price range. For Lavalier mics I could go down a very big rabbit hole. To keep it short if you want wireless, the Rode Wireless Go, the Comica Boom XD, and the Saramonic Blink 500 are great starter sets. Personally I prefer wireless mics that use the UHF frequency but you'll pay more. Then there are Lavs that record to the body pack rather than transmit wirelessly. The Zoom F2 and Tascam mini are industry standards and relatively affordable. The down side is that you have to sync the separate audio to the video in post but there are tricks to make it fairly painless. You generally get a cleaner recording than the wireless packs though.

  • @andrewmason8691
    @andrewmason8691 Před 2 lety

    Thanks for the comparison. I have 3 Manfrotto tripods, including 1 Manfrotto 055. I just purchased an IFootage TC6S to replace my be Befree Travel Tripod (gawd I hate that) and am blown away it. I’m now going to replace my 055 and 502 with iFootage tripods. Note that the neck of the TC6S can be turned upside down to take shots on the ground. Admittedly by 055 is an older version, but the neck is unstable and you don’t want to pan with it. The TC6S is rock solid. I have a levelling plate for my 055 which also moves 15 degrees. It’s very good, but not cheap. The TC6S is very similar in that respect; not quite as solid, but a little easier to use. Levelling bass are critical for any outdoor video shooting. Eg weddings, events, landscapes, b-roll. I can see why you view the legs opening slowly as a disadvantage. But for me,, the cushioning release of the TC6S protects the equipment and doesn’t “bang” on release. So I can see why you went for the 055, but for me, IFootage is a clear winner. I’m blown away by how well it is made, how light and how stable it feels. Just my opinion for what it’s worth.

    • @andyvan5692
      @andyvan5692 Před 11 měsíci

      I have an 055 to, but this is perfect, solid, for MF and heavy cameras, which I put on them, but for a z7 etc. a gitzo or sirui will do just as well, as you don't have the weight to worry about, overall horses for courses, get what you need to support what you have, but also keep in mind, having a stronger one than what you need at the moment, does allow for G.A.S. (gear acquisition syndrome) when you move up into mf and LF cameras, then you don't have to buy twice, as you have one capable in your kit already.

  • @majorskepticism7836
    @majorskepticism7836 Před 2 lety

    Hmmm… Does that one come without the acoustic feedback? I believe the company that makes Benro was contracted to make Gitzo for a while. Probably not a coincidence they have some similarities. Gitzo’s mistake. There’s a room in my house we call the “Tripod Room.” It isn’t full yet… My favorite design is the Tiltall/Star+D model. Been using one with a custom center post almost 40 years. (And it looks it.) Second most used, a Benro A268 (travel). #3 is the 055 (old model). I saw a fat guy in a camera store pondering the purchase of a very expensive carbon fiber tripod. I didn’t say anything, but he didn’t look like the type that was gonna carry a tripod on a long hike. I’m sure he could afford it, considering the piece of photo-jewelry hanging from his neck, but if you’re gonna USE expensive equipment, by all means cough up the cash. My old Star-D isn’t going to impress anybody. (Well, a few gear-heads have asked about the custom work.)

    @MakersMuse Před 2 lety

    mmm really good comparison! Thanks :D You're right that shotgun mics shouldn't be ruled out, but the Shure (noise aside) is quite clear and easy to understand without any muddy boom. Rode Video Micro punches well above its weight and size, that was surprising! I love how convenient lav's are but have always hated how muffle they sound without aggressive tweaks. Gonna have to try that plugin regardless.

    • @MadeWithLayers
      @MadeWithLayers Před 2 lety

      Yeah, I was very pleasantly surprised by those two as well! Listening back to the recordings, I almost like the SM58's sound better than the MKE 600 - and it (or the SM57) are definitely good options considering the price. Also should be easily available anywhere in the world. For lavs, it seems like a lot of the budget is going into miniaturization. You can get some great-sounding ones, but they're very quickly pushing "not worth it" territory. MKE Essential seems like a good tradeoff, and I believe the bundled mics with Sennheiser wireless kits are very similar, too.

    • @MadeWithLayers
      @MadeWithLayers Před 2 lety

      Also, I'm still using an ancient version of Acon's DeVerberate, but it's doing a very decent job of just taking out that bit of reverb the room still has. Very easy to push it too far, though, and it definitely needs a mostly clean recording to start with to give pleasing results.
