Just a fantastic, brilliant trick. And to fool two of the best magicians ever, is awesome. (And I’m sure that show’s producers wouldn’t allow earpieces anyway.)

He takes the cube back and there has to be a reason for it. He then rotates it a couple of times. Also notice that both times she is asked to cover all sides except for the top. There is something inside the cube, possibly sending signals to the magician. Suspect a magician wearing a jacket, there is usually something hidden inside of it.

Under his suit is a device that gives an electric shock to different body parts depending on what moves were made, using a signal sent via technology in the centre of the cube as there should be enough space. He played through the moves in his head to know the colours and their orientations (which is amazing visualisation). When it came to Alison fliping the cube to any side, the same mathod can be used using a gryoscope. That's my guess.

How he did it: the cube colours are lit up by LEDs hence she wasn't allowed to look at it. All he had to do was memorise how many colours were lit up. Well that's my guess

This isn't magic. This is using math, something a lot of different people worked basically their whole lives on tirelessly to proof. And then this asshole pretends like he hasn't studied it. Fuck this guy, what an ass hole. He's spitting in the face of like thousands of years of discovery in one act. This guy is a hack. This is like exploding a nuclear bomb and claiming that you did it with a magic wand.

Nice trick :) I know how you got colors but not know how you knew what side is up third time, they never show it on screen.

I think the sides had to be covered so sensors could detect the colors of the translucent top facing cubes without interference. Electronics with some communication to his body with Bluetooth

This was sucha great act but upon rewatching, i was so disappointed he didnt pause half a scond more when asking her to think about colours. Because i was fooled but this ruins the illusio second time

I feel like in this case the secret behind this trick HAS to be in that Rubik’s cube - and either he somehow switched the cube/gimmick for it to be normal or he let Alyson keep the gimmicked cube entirely (knowing she is a pretty naive spectator anyways who wouldn’t know how it could work to begin with. The goal is to fool Penn and Teller, not to fool Alyson, even if she may find the secret in the cube, which could have been clever to give the ‘illusion’ to the rest of the people that the cube was just normal). It also is weird how why does the cube have to be behind her back but can’t just do it in front of her. I know these kind of gimmicks exist like Venom Cube by Henry Harrius that allow the spectator to mix the cube yet it will instantly then match right back to a pre-known memorized sequence. What is bothering me though is how he would know which side Alyson is turning, and that’s why this trick is so wild. Maybe the producers of the show are cutting footage that we are unaware of- this seems impossible. As a seasoned magician though, I will say that I am fooled.

The cube was a fake one with individual square screens that can change colour to a pattern he has memorised, that’s why he asked her to do it behind her back so she don’t see the squares change colour. I know that sounds stupid but other than that I ain’t got a clue. Well done.

Penn actually gave away the secret, Yang had to know in some way. The cube has some sort of transmitter inside and he can received the message in some way. I guess it can only tell the upside of the cube. Yang answer Penn's question with hesitation. also, Yang knew the combination before he even ask Alice to thank about the color.

Allyson needs a new wardrobe assistant. The sneakers and baggy clothes are not attractive, Allyson could look so much better!❤️ Shorter hair, more attractive clothes, and lose the sneakers. A beauty going to waste.

You can never underestimate the level of prework that a magician will do. I think he just has some eletronic bullshit that tells him the answer.

I was playing with the rubik's cube and accidentally watched this, what a nice trick 👏

If I had to guess, the cube has a gyroscope sensor which sends signals to vibrators sticking on his body. Each vibrator represents a color and a position. He probably has a button hidden somewhere (maybe in the shoes) that he can press when Allison is pointing the cube to the top.

I think I know how this works. If I am right, this is really bold :D You did not have an earpiece, but you had an "assistant".

I think Allison never shuffled the cube at all when Rabby handed it to her. @1:59 Look at the side with the three white going down the middle. @3:13 The side is exactly the same.

My background in electronics blinds me to better ways - but an internal circuit inside the cube could easily send a message to sensors worn on his person, just not in his ear.

i know how he did the main trick that part is obvious but how in the world did he do the self turning book and self tying rope tricks in the intro? if anyone knows i would really appreciate the help because these are tricks that i would love to perform also i'v seen these tricks performed by others so i know he did not invent them but i have never been able to figure them out

When it comes to magic what’s the line that’s too far when it comes to using electronics and tech to pull off an illusion? If there’s any at all.

Chinese fooled us a long time ago, starting in the 90's

Well I recently learned how to solve the Rubik's cube and in that process I found out that they have cubes from GAN, the GAN-i series, which transmit to a device the position of each piece of the cube to a device which resets the cube. That could easily be rigged to transmit to receiver in his pocket in some fashion so he can know the colors and position. Specifically, teller said he had an accomplice and ear piece, neither of which are necessary. Penn & Teller don't cube.

I don't know how he did it but If i were him, I would use bluetooth rubik's cube(I saw it on amazon) which is connect to the board(tablet) and only be seen by me (I would also wear a special glasses(also saw how can be made) to see the tablet screen). I am not saying I know how he did it but that is how I would done (may be I am wrong).

Notice one thing.. early in the performance he shows one side of the cube that mysteriously is the same configuration as Allison turns to on the second flip.

The cube is a gimmick, you can see the same patterns when he is holding the cube before handing it to Alison. It is gimmicked so that the colors stay the same despite the feeling of being turned and changed. This is why he wanted Alison to do the turn behind her back and to hide the sides, so she and the audience won't notice. A great routine indeed.

If not a camera filming from above conveying info to him somehow, IDK.
