It was composed and written by Ross Parker and Hughie Charles. It was recorded in 1939 by Billy Cotton and his Band (REX 9632), whose recording is mentioned on the original 1939 sheet music, and supplied him with a finale for his show for years. A popular version was later recorded by Vera Lynn in 1962.

Am Sudanese but the revolt was justified. First the young Turks oppressed the Arabs and made them second class citizens and weren’t they also secular? Arabs are Muslim before being Arabs and you betrayed Islam so after that we had no alliance between you. We were Muslim brothers and you became non Muslim so there was no “betrayal”. Also the fact that the average saudi emarati omani Qatari kwaiti make 3 to 4 times more than the average Turk makes it a success. The only problem with it was siding with non Muslim British if they did it by themselves it would’ve been perfect. As for Palestine’s and the levant’s instability it probably was going to happen either way wether the Arabs revolted or not the Ottoman Empire was weak and was going to lose and get carved up by Britain and France wether Arabs sided with the rest of the ottomans or not. And seeing how racist Turks are to Arabs today am very happy for my gulf brothers not be ruled by them. I wouldn’t mind being ruled by a strong Muslim leader tho no matter what his ethnicity is, but if Islam is out of the equation then Arab lands are for Arabs to rule!
@@omarosama155 Well arabian peninsula was under control of Arabs for many years, yeah. Especially under the rule of the prophet Muhammad. I don't quite remember the name of the kingdom. I suppose it was "Abbasid". But you know, unlike Brits and French, Arabs were more free under control of Turks. Ottoman Empire wasn't a colonial empire unlike others. We even gave many rights to Armenians even though they were christians. It would be really idiotic to say the Ottoman Empire applied racism against Arabs. If we were bad against Arabs, why didn't they rebel more earlier? Like why did they rebel in the 1900s instead of the 1800s or 1700s?
