    Great overview, thank you! Loved your video on the Catamount 3 too. Is the Adidas as good at uphills as the Catamount? I love uphill running in the Catamounts but could use more cushion for longer distance and downhills. Thanks!

      Hey, sorry didn't get the comment notification! I have found I like using the Catamounts for more technical hilly trails, while the Adidas are better for cushioning, outright speed and smooth trails. Both are pretty good for uphills I think, but the Catamounts are what I would pick if grip is more of a priority.

    Great points as far as what could be improved. I have version 2 and will for now stick with it , since 2 is still available. I feel that overlay on version 2 was enough and 3 is bid overkill and it will restrict my toes on hot days when feet swell up. Sliver of additional cushion would be nice touch as you already noticed. I love my V2 for shorter runs with hills due to great responsiveness and I like how breathable they are compare to all my other running shoes. I recently was gifted Hoka Speedgoat 5 and have not tried them yet because I was never a Hoka person (it was always too much cushion for me). I am thinking that Hoka may end up being my longer distance Faspacking shoe but I love V2 for fast pace shorter under 20km runs. It's a great racing shoe. Thanks you for your review on V3.

    • @seekingultra4333
      @seekingultra4333 Před měsícem

      I have been using my Catamounts for shorter runs too, and since I got the Adidas Terrex Agravic Speed Ultras, I use those for longer runs and Ultras for the added cushioning. Would be nice if Brooks could maybe make a max version, like they have with their Hyperion road shoe.

    I recently used mine for a 50 mile event over the South Downs and although I never had any issues with heel slippage the issue I had was the aggressive rocker. It felt like it was digging up into the arches of my feet. I'll continue to use them but probably for shorter events in the future

      @TeoElryns Před 3 měsíci

      @@seekingultra4333 yes I've done my last run in the runners knot, I got bandaid on the back, I think the skin will get used to it with time, just need to give it time, but I do believe the value of the shoe would've been much better with 2grams cushion on heel. Also I am not sure if the normal is just as wide as ultra, I measured 4.5 inches widest forefoot area, but it doesn't have that line in the middle between the lugs, so I believe ultra is slightly wider.

    • @seekingultra4333
      @seekingultra4333 Před 3 měsíci

      I would probably stick with your running shoe size, I normally keep about a thumbs width of space between my toes and the end of the toebox. If you find there is too much space, you can always try a runners knot to lock the heel in a bit more.

    Hey mate. Nice channel, informative information! I’m new to jogging scene, long time soccer player (still playing) and recreational tennis player. I’ve currently got Adidas Adizero SL shoes in size 9 US, they fit pretty perfect, my big toe basically goes to the end, maybe a quarter of a thumb space. Also I wear custom insole orthotics Keen to build a running shoe rotation, looking at getting a training shoe (Boston 12 or Superblast) and also a plated super shoe (most keen to get Adizero Adios Pro 3). Just wondering would you suggest give myself half a thumb’s width space in front of the big toe for running shoes? I’m adjusting because with soccer boots I’ve always wanted them to be as snug as possible so it’s a strange feeling having shoes with space now. Cheers!

    • @seekingultra4333
      @seekingultra4333 Před 3 měsíci

      Hey, thank you very much! 🙂. I normally go a thumbs width from the front of the shoe. It just gives a little space for your feet when they swell a bit. Although this tends to happen over longer distances. If you find that you want your foot locked in place a bit more, but keeping that thumbs width of space in the front, you can always try a runners knot too, which helps lock your heel in place a bit more. Hope that helps!

    Thanks for your honest review on V4. Personally, I don't share the same overview on this shoe. I have both V4 & Boston 12 for my daily runs. I feel Boston 12 perform much better than V4 in terms of 'energy return'. For comfy wise, V4 definitely my choice. That's why I'll always use V4 for my Recovery or Easy Mileage whereas Boston 12 for Long Tempo run. Overall, Rebel V4 is a good shoe.

      Crossed the finish line without a blister! I started out with the V1, went to V2, back to another V1, then finished off with the Salomon S-lab Ultras (they've always been a little too big but they came in handy at that moment:). The snug fit of the original Catamount fits my narrow foot a little better, and the original is slightly more cushy under foot. Out of the box they're a shoe I don't notice on my feet - that's the best way to describe it. V2 just didn't do it for me.

    I have recently bought this pack and I think one of the issues you touched open is the depth of the side 360 pockets. I have run a trail marathon in this and several training runs. @@seekingultra4333 I put snacks towards the front on the right, buff and gloves towards the front on the left. However at the sides (where the webbing is at its lowest) I put waterproof gloves on the left and sachets of powder on the right. Everything is secure but the gloves are rolled up tight with an elastic band so stay below the upper limit of the webbing. As long as you put the right gear there you're okay. Also I find it impossible to get my waterproof from the rear section of the 360 pocket , or put it back. For me it isn't a big deal because I need to remove the vest to put it on. However if you were a runner who put the jacket over your pack it may be an issue. Overall I am happy with the vest but given the opportunity again I would buy the Salomon.

      Hello! You could probably get away with it in the road too, although they may feel a bit heavy compared to some other road shoes. The Asics Novablast 3 TRs would be a good winter shoe for wet roads, but not as good on trails.

    Hello. Thank you for your reviews and comprehensive help. Can I know your foot length and the shoe size you use in Nimbus 25 so that I can have a reference?
