I don’t really understand all the negative comments about the fun games. It’s called team building. Corporations do it. Universities do it. Yes, adults do it. It’s so amateurish to evaluate a player’s impact by stats alone. Take Angel for example, besides being an excellent defender look how she changes a team’s transition from defense to offense. One has to account for her offensive rebounding (and lately, Kamilla as well.) Opposing teams have to keep players back to get the rebounds. That means less fast breaks. Less transition. Want to point me to where that is in a box score? Or how Reese tips the ball away so a teammate can get the loose ball-and credit for the steal. Kindly point out that to me in the box score. The total points tallied thing is b.s. CC is getting credit for others scores. An assist isn’t a score. It’s an assist. Let the player who hits that three or makes that driving layup get the credit for the score. Indiana is the only team that doesn’t pass the ball around on offense. They did against the Lynx, looked good, and won. Against the Wings they went back to the one pass and shoot thing, and lost. What PG couldn’t have a high number of assists in such a losing philosophy? With teams healthy now, I believe you’ll see different outcomes after the break.

I think it’s at least clear to most everyone that it’s only Angel and Caitlin in the conversation. Like Sue expressed, Angel is having an incredible rookie year, no doubt. I feel bad because this happens all of the time, other truly exceptional players get outshined by a generational talent. Any other year, Angel probably takes the cake and deservedly so. She just happens to be a rookie the same year as Clark. Both are exceptional and Clark just clearly is rookie of the year because she’s also showing to be possibly the best rookie of all time. Unless CC completely free falls in the remainder of the season and Reese scores 25 points a game, there's no comparison. I think it will be the opposite, Caitlin was really getting comfortable in July and put up historic numbers. With some rest for those legs, she'll be knocking down those 3's again and getting close to double digit assists every game.
