I have just bought the 2019 version and that dome is not as transparent as the one you've shown. Also all the nails on hands and feet are perfectly done. I think you just got unlucky.

Hey there! Which stands are you using to prop them up? This is my first action figure, and I don't know if I should be expect it to be able to stand on its own. I haven't been successful in finding a pose which will last for more than a few hours, but yeah, don't know what the 'norm' is for these types of models... Any insight you can share?

I purchased this statue and does the Moducase Df60 fit the statue?

Does. The dome touch the center skull ridge on top? How did they help with the dome issue? Did they replace the dome? Or just tell you how to adjust? How does the foot key in the base? What part is the peg on the base or the foot? Thanks

Looks amazing. I collect prime 1 and Xm alien statues and I missed out on this. Hoping to find one at a descent price.

A little background info. regarding this statue. Marmit released it back in 2004 as a very limited vinyl model kit. The kit came in very minimal packaging (I guess to reduce costs) The packaging was just a clear plastic bag with a folded piece of cardboard stapled to the top of the bag. The cardboard had Marmit printed on it along with the word Alien in Japanese. I know this because I own one. The only difference I can see is those silver tubes coming from the back of the jaw (the ones you describe as brittle) were not included with the kit I bought back in 2004 when it was originally released. I can see all the breaks in your statue where the kit went together too. I've since kit bashed those tubes at the rear of the jaw and filled the legs of my vinyl kit with Aves epoxy sculpt. Firstly to strengthen the legs as vinyl statues a renown for warping and drooping over time and secondly to give it some weight. The kit cost $400AUD back in 2004. The base and plaque are a nice touch and weren't included in the 2004 kit though the medicom toys and the marmit logos ruin the plaque imo. This piece is pretty much 100% accurate to the suit worn by Eddie Powell and Bolaji Badejo. The only detail was the missing jaw tubes (which you got included) and the piping running over one of the shoulders is correct on one arm (can't remember which and my kit is in storage) and on the other its slightly off. It's nothing to worry about and you have to look to really see it. I think it was intentionally done. There was some rumour going around in the late 90's that 20th Century Fox would not allow anyone to duplicate the suit exactly. Though how true that is I'm not sure. I'm in two minds about the statue. The 2004 kit was very rare and very limited. It was cool to know I was one of the few people lucky enough to own it. This statue has now reduced it's rarity. On the other hand it's nice to see it done in polystone. Though I do prefer the kit as I got to paint it myself (the Alien had a lot of sepia brown in amongst the grey) which is missing from this statue and I'm also not a big fan of the way they painted this statue. Along with that I got to make a custom base for my kit. Finally I notice Prime1 have ripped this Marmit sculpt off to a T. Excellent score though. Along with the 1/6 scale Marmit B Type Alien statue this piece I won't ever sell. If I were you I'd get a custom display case made. Trust me it sets the final display off beautifully.

I picked this up. It is worth the money for the statue. the factory paint job is bad .looks like tiger stripes. I am going to repaint it. I think the sculpture is a good representation of the Big chap though.

Big chap is the best version of the xenomorph. I have the smaller 7 inch figure and contemplating on getting the bigger one.

I like all of them but yes the 2019 looks the best overall. With the details like missing paint on the 2008 teeth and 2019 toenails, could this be just specific to yours and vary amongst others out there? I know with quality control some things get missed and it can be random what you get. Nice to see all 3 together. I have a 2008 version I have slightly repainted and mounted to a base. Also painted the dome black as it was damaged so have a hybrid between the original and the later avp aliens. I want to pick up the translucent version but am not keen on the lips on it and the 2015 variant which kinda looks sleepy or goofy. That is one thing they did right with the 2008 and the 2019. Good vid.

Well, nice comparison, but you are missing out on a few things here. First, there was actually 2 Versions of each, the 2008 & 2015. A 2008 Version with a clear dome and a 2015 Version without those white big Lips covering most of the Teeth. I myself have these 2 Versions, while you have the others. Second: Gigers first Version of the Alien was translucent from Head to toe (which was also available from Neca in ¼ scale) and after they had to paint the suit for the movie, the Dome stayed clear in the beginning, but they had to change that too and go for the less transparent Version. That‘s why both Versions are accurate in their own ways. I wish I had ALL of them, that would make for a total of 6 great Big Chaps in ¼ scale, but I am happy to have at least 4 of them.

So is this worth buying nowadays?

Excellent review. I have the 2015 version which has a right lower leg which is slightly splayed outwards. Does the 2019 version have the same splayed leg?
