How to Create a Progress Bar in Camtasia
Progress bars help visually show how much time is left in the video or convey a sense of urgency. With Camtasia 2024, it is super simple to visually add a progress bar to your Camtasia screen recording and then update it to whatever style you want.
The nice thing is that it automatically adjusts the animation when you adjust the timing along the Camtasia timeline. In this video, Jeff Batt walks you through where to find the progress bars, how to add them to your timeline, how to visually adjust them to your liking, and more.

    This is another off topic... I notice that you use 360 on a mac. I too have used 360 on a mac with virtual desktop via parallels and windows 11. But I don't get the same performance as I would on a native PC. I use a macbook pro with 16gb of ram and set parallels and win 11 to use 8gb ram when running. Maybe I am doing something wrong. I am wondering if this is the issue or if 360 just runs slower in general on a mac. I really don't want to have to get a windows laptop just to run 360. Any recommendation on how to optimize 360 to run better on a mac? Maybe it is just upgrading my macbook pro to a 32 or 36 ram. Maybe this is an idea for a video. Not sure.

      Yes! You can create a function called "stopTimer" and then call it at some point but it is simple like doing clearInterval(timerId) Here is what the full code may be. var player = GetPlayer(); var sec = 0; var timerId; function startTimer() { sec += 1; player.SetVar("timer", sec); if (sec == 100) { clearInterval(timerId); } } function stopTimer() { clearInterval(timerId); } // Start the timer timerId = setInterval(startTimer, 1000); // Example of stopping the timer (you can bind this to a button click or another event in Storyline) // stopTimer(); Hope that helps!

    Thanks for the BTS. It was nice of you to explain in detail which product you chose and why. I think it would be nice if there were more videos like this. For example, how a short tutorial is edited from start to finish...👍

      Thanks! Yeah I have been toying around with a channel that is dedicated all to video in L&D.

    YES!! Love this code, worked first time and even used the "[data-acc-text='Camera']" accessibility text method mentioned in a previous video and it still works. I have also found that if you have an odd shaped image or object you want to animate in this way but it animates before the mouse gets to it because of its square bounding box that you can scribble draw in Storyline an object over your image and then replace that scribble's 'fill' with a picture from file and BAM you don't have that extra space!

  • @Kragreth

    First off thank you for the video, secondly please don't get rid of your other video as I am using an older version of Storyline and the inspect element feature during preview is not available in versions prior to February 2024, and thirdly, why does this code not need a constant or variable that tells it to communicate with the player like other code I have gotten to work. Like: const player = GetPlayer(); especially when you are seeking to get a variable established in Storyline like 'playerHeight' and 'playerWidth' edit* again still just a beginner here but got this code to work by removing let originalWidth = getVar("playerWidth"); let originalHeight = getVar("playerHeight"); and replaced it with: let originalWidth = 960; let originalHeight = 540; (my Storyline project's width and height)

    Thank you so much for sharing the details behind the scenes. I've been following your CZcams channel for two years now. You are an inspiration for my work and projects with Articulate. These insights into your work you gave us today and what drives you personally make you and your channel even more valuable. Through your video today, I no longer see just software, tips and tricks, but someone who is driven by heart and enthusiasm. Thank you for your willingness to share your valuable knowledge with others. You are a great role model for me.

    Why didn't the updatedNum part need to be in quotation marks like the "variableTest" needed to be in? player.SetVar("variableTest", updatedNum);

    • @LearningDojo
      @LearningDojo Před měsícem

      Because updatedNum is a variable name coming from the line of code above. The quotes are because you are passing the info back to Storyline. Just a formatting requirement.

    Storyline supports apng files. I use this for character animated walk cycles inside states. You can actually build mini isometric games in storyline this way. Not being able to preview animations can be a real pain for incremental testing.

    • @LearningDojo
      @LearningDojo Před měsícem

      I'd be curious to see that in action.

      @@LearningDojo sure thing: czcams.com/video/hAzcrst7omY/video.htmlsi=4qlXBb9kLAnAuf6p Lots of tricks to make this work, eg, shifting objects in front and behind the actor to appear as if he's walking around them (doorways, furniture etc). Absolutely no JavaScript required. The circular shadow of the actor is a grouped object that "intersects" with hotspots / objects to trigger actions. Each state is an .apng walk cycle in each of the 8 directions (with a couple of resting states too). Actor moves by repeating a motion path as long as arrow in that direction is "hover". Slide variable determines which direction the actor should be facing when "entering" slides from relative direction. Saved slide state does the rest. Those are the basic mechanics of the UX - then anything can technically be built on top of it. :-)
