      thanks for the message.... so glad you found it helpful... Since I posted this video, the diagnosis has been changed to parkinson's....... but I still teach trumpet lessons (about six students at this time) and play every day. I find the challenge meaningful, and one of the ways to mitigate the tremors.......I also exercise a lot, which I think is very helpful.."moving water doesn't freeze..." is a good thing to remember at any age and whatever the condition. Hang in there; continuing to play and practice will likely be very therapeutic!!!!

    You seem to be confused about air pressure vs air speed. Fast air is actually a liability, its just something trumpet players say. Show me the study where air "speed" was measured while playing. Please.

  • @darryljones9208
    @darryljones9208 Před 3 lety

    Efficiency in regard to air power is: Sound power output ÷ air power input. But air power input is: Air pressure x air flow To truly measure "Efficiency " accurately one would need to measure sound power produced, air pressure, and air flow. And by power I do mean power, not pressure. Pressure is energy density. Power is energy/time. Darryl Jones (trumpet player and professional engineer. )

      @@slidegrease of course, the problem is that solid mechanics understanding need not be terribly complex. Even so , players refuse to undetake to understand these applicable concepts. That goes for good AND not-so-good players. It also is NOT required to understand mechanics to be a fine player. Almost ALL players simply repeat hearsay in regard to technical concepts. They use verbiage and terms that they define as they see fit (if defined at all) And communication is confused among players. It's just all about throwing out vogue term to APPEAR informed. And usually offering contradiction.

    • @darryljones9208
      @darryljones9208 Před 3 lety

      Oh, I would like to also point out: Sound power is not the same as sound pressure level. SPL is a POINT measurement related to loudness at THAT point. Sound POWER is the entire integral of sound energy rate from the instrument. This would be a painstaking measurement but possible with specialized equipment.
