This probably one of the best presentations on the budget. The presenter is great to listen to and tells it like it is. Very easy to understand.

He certainly does an excellent job knocking down a strawman that no one actually believes in. Fine work!

i’m not in the business of changing minds, i’m in the business of straw manning MMT and keeping you brainwashed neoliberals in line.

#MMT is not a verb or policy it’s a lens for analysing and perceiving facts of macroeconomics. it’s non-sensical to say MMT would cause this or cause that. MMT can never been a causation by definition.

The title of the CZcams video does not correspond to the title of the slides. Would you be so kind to change it? MMT would lead to disinflation or deflation if you overuse it

Dr Hunt is saying that MMT has already been tested and found to have failed. However, his talk is titled “Why MMT would lead to hyperinflation”. So it’s been tested and found to have failed because it hasn’t led to the hyperinflation that it should have done? I can’t make any sense of this at all!

Very interesting presentation explaining how the banking system works today and why negative interest rates on bank reserves don't stimulate bank lending.

MMT can't work because government has demonstrated that it has no self restraint being driven by short term political considerations, piling debt upon debt for non productive spending creating a huge drag on consumption and investment as it hugely misallocates resources depressing growth and market efficiency. It's the central planning problem shown by Hayek in The Road to Serfdom and demonstrated by the U.S.S.R as it fell apart.

MMT - NOT money, it's currency. NOT modern, currency debasement is as old as the very idea of fiat. NOT theory, it's already well and truly in action. Typical Orwellian double speak

You have the absolute best speaker to explain why MMT won't work, why it hasn't worked in the past, and the implications if MMT is put into place. Wow. Terrific interview. Thank you!

MMT is the most accurate description of the current economic system. It’s not what ought to be. It’s what is. That said, what “is” in this case is a constructed system. It’s very existence is the result of an ought. We did not find the current economic system at the bottom of the ocean, at the end of a telescope or by observing particles collide in an accelerator. Stop arguing against MMT like it’s just a bad idea. It’s a bad idea that is in effect. Agree and extend.

MMT is of course simply a statement of how monetary systems function. It is not a set of policies. It is not something you can test in that sense. You could question whether it correctly describes the balance sheet mechanics of monetary systems, but of course would be wrong to do so.
