I'm from Argentina and our economy has always been crazy. All politics do is blame each other for stealing our money but none of them have fixed the situation. When I bought my car in 2016, gas was 1.000 pesos and now is 40.000 pesos 💀 Your math was right.
Wow a 40x increase in 8 years. If money is deflating that fast, do people take drastic action to preserve it by moving their money out of the peso, or is the strategy just to spend it as fast as it comes in? I've heard many people try to get USD, but I can't imagine everyone having US bills stashed in the walls of their homes.
@@Ryan-Riegner most people live paycheck to paycheck. Even if you can save some money, getting dolars is hard because people are forced to buy at the blue or mep rate instead of the official rate. They publish the official rate in the media but reality is most people can't buy it at a bank. On the other hand, since inflation is so high, there is a lot of speculation with prices, so people try to stash non perishable goods for the future instead of saving argentinian pesos.
@@Ryan-Riegner there was a huge economic crisis in 2001 called the "corralito". The goverment took dolar savings and converted them to pesos. On top of that, you weren't allowed to take more than $250 out of the bank. Since then, the government has always placed some kind of restriction to how many dolars you can get ("cepo al dolar"). That's why there's a parallel market that sells at a higher rate.
7:00 I'm glad you didn't just throw that one into the cart 😂
or imagine if I did it with the eggs!
Nice video! What was the espresso like at La Farmacia? Was it a more traditional dark roast, or was it more of a modern style? Did you order any food there?
Thanks! It's hard to remember and honestly I don't know the differences in espresso types, but it's a cool place. No food, just coffee. Let me know if you go your impressions.
Dude, replace that Chase debit with the Charles Schwab debit. No foreign fees, refunded atm fees.
good idea, I'll take a note.
They have a siesta every afternoon, it's a Spanish thing.
Wow
Does it have a suburbia? - I want to stay somewhere with minimal air pollution - but I can just Uber in for shopping - dont mind a 30 min trip if I can get some fresh air.
Ask this guy @Pablo_CX255
Hi, sir if you want you can solve all kinds of problems with your CZcams channel, and if this problem is solved the video will get better views, and subscribers will increase. I want to work as manager of your channel if you allow I will bring good results
There is a very large coto supermercado on Santa Fe across the street from the botanical gardens. Two floors. All you want
You have to ask for 2,000 bills. The new 10,000 bills just start circulated. The easy way is to transfer you money at Western Union go to the montevideo office and you will get the blue rate, so easy
You need crisp $100 bills with the blue stripe
Many Western are pago facil , it’s like paypal but for Argentinian
There is a bank at the airport, but not that easy to find. There is a corridor near starbucks and Senesa office. You take that corridor to the end and you will see banco de la nacion. I exhange a little bit of money for my first day, then if you need a subte card for subways and buses you go to the 25 hours kiosco, in front the Mc Donald and charge it( sometimes they are hard to find in town. I gave me a day to settle (i always arrive a week day and not a friday because the next day is saturday and many place to exchange are close on sunday. Then i already set up my account with Western Union. First thing in the morning I go to Western Union (the one on calle Montevideo is the best. I transfer me money a couple hundreds in pesos. You need your passport for the transaction. My us money, i go to Remini exhange office on Paraguay, very easy and quick and exchange $200 hundred dollars there . We always pay cash everywhere as my credit card does’nt apply the blue rate. We tested it. We will be retired in october so we are going again in BA in january but for a 2 months stay. We love BA

In New Zealand too they eat kiwi like that without peeling.
Interesting. I eat foods however monkeys do it.
@@Ryan-Riegnerhmm interesting but you're not black tho 🤔
Ryan, you are definitely living the dream. When you were walking on the beach, it looked like you there was a shadow of a person walking next to you. Did someone join you on your excursion?
Thanks! On this one, no.
Omg do I have to send out a search party

I came to Argentina around mid May. The atms are terrible. The fees were 30% and the limit was $40 (40,000 pesos) per withdrawal. I knew that bitcoin would work here so I found an exchange place in the Avenida Florida area. They approached me and led me to the shop. There I asked to exchange USD for pesos and pay with Bitcoin on the lightning network. They showed me a Lightning invoice and charged a fee of 7%. I paid from my Lightning wallet (Wallet of Satoshi). Easy peasy. I go once a week and every week the exchange rate improves. My first trade was $1=1100P and this week was $1=1250P. If you have USD you can exchange it but I'm here for 90 days and did not want to carry much cash. They give me 1000, 2000 and 10,000 denominations
So, how much are you spending per mont
a few hundred a month
@@Ryan-Riegner wow
I LOVE MONEY HEIL MI PLISS YHANK YOU❤❤❤
I love money too. Send me some.
Cool 😎👍🏽
Search Venezuelan bolivares. Worth so little they weigh the wads of bills at checkout. The guy with the chainsaw who was elected president wants to do away with the peso and get the US dollar as Argentina's money. Speaking of 400 percent, that's how much Buenos Aires subway fares recently increased.
"they weigh the wads of bills at checkout" Holy !@#$
did u get laid ?
si te dicen que filmes, no filmes, gringo mediocre
floralis generica was destroyed for a very bad weather, too many days of a lot of rain and wind, that's why it is like that, but that was like a month or two ago.
So what is the reason? You didnt answer the question
My Airbnb host said it’s because of high taxes on imports + higher salaries than their neighbors
hey bro can you share the link to that airbnb i want to stay there
for sure www.airbnb.mx/rooms/704558813609424873?guests=1&adults=1&s=67&unique_share_id=17a1b54d-8149-4ae5-888b-42746f4bfb24
There was a big storm... Now they are working to fix it
Ah my initial impression was that someone destroyed it
You should check Chacarita cemetery, is way bigger and has more popular icons rather than aristocrat and upper class people buried in Recoleta.
Where did you eat breakfast?
Marulier San Antonio
Too many pesos floating around and not enough demand. I lived in BA for a couple of years in 2012 and was able to live on USD15k pa. I loved Argentina, it’s a beautiful country and I met so many great people there. Make sure you visit Calafate.
For someone working for a us company here in argentina and getting dollars as payment is just heaven
I love your videos I hope you’re channel growing ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Thank you! That’s encouraging. Working on it. Little by little…
Healthy comes in variety too
Yes of course. This is what works for me.
❤
😂
Fellow digital nomad here. I was in Argentina just over a year ago. When I had arrived, the blue dollar was at 270 while the official rate was less than half, about 130. I stayed in Argentina for 6 months, half of the time in Buenos Aires. When I left, the blue dollar was at 500. I've been checking in on the news on Argentina every now and then because I love Argentina and wish to come back and stay for a while again. There actually is a bank at the airport where you could have exchanged your dollars but it's kinda hidden in a corner but be glad you didn't because they exchanged at the official rate. I had some dollars in cash as well, I was staying a few blocks away from the Argentinian Presidential House and, ironically, there were tons of low profile places where you could change your dollars at the blue rate. Usually those newspaper stands you see on sidewalks. I noticed you mentioned you're staying in Palermo, so that's quite a bit far but I'm sure there are places to exchange there if you ask around. At first, I used to do the whole "wiring money to myself via Western Union" thing. A lot of people did. There was usually a long line at the WU where I went. But then, the government, in an attempt to compete against the blue dollar market, they struck a deal with card processors so they would charge at a competing rate that the goverment came up with called the MEP dollar, which now is around the same as the blue dollar. You simply pay with your credit or debit card and you either get instantly charged at the MEP rate or, in my case, you get charged at the official rate but then I would get some cash back on my card to compensate for the MEP rate after a couple of business days. Since then I would stick to just paying with my card everywhere possible. Then again, it's been over a year so I'm not sure if that has changed. Check your card statement for that. Let me know if you have any further questions. I'll be happy to answer. I do miss Argentina and wish to come back. I'm currently traveling through Georgia (the country, not the US state) and it is dirt cheap here.
Wow it boggles my mind that 1 year ago the official rate was 130 and now it’s around 900. Is that a rate of 700% inflation? Even since I left two weeks ago the informal rate was 1,000 and now it’s 1,200… That’s a 20% inflation in that time? I hope my math is wrong here…
@@Ryan-Riegner oh wow, you're right. i just checked. ever since Milei started his presidency, the peso had stagnated at 1k and now it's going up again. your math is not wrong. the inflation in argentina is insane.
@@StrikerEureka85 absolutely insane.
You def got the vibe, lifestyle, and perspective for CZcams. Keep it up bro, keep experimenting, and you will get traction with this 👍
I appreciate that! My primary reason is to capture memories for later in life, so even if I get zero views I’ll still do it. But having a global community would create so many great opportunities so I’m committed to doing it publicly and exploring what people want to watch. Let’s go!
That guys is 3 times Ryan's size wtf
Yea…
You realize that eating broccoli causes gas right? You won't make new friends eating broccoli. Just saying.
