Welcome to my collection of little 'How To' videos centred around the Yamaha Disklavier. Over the years I have owned a number of these wonderful machines and sometimes struggled with getting them to do what I wanted - even when the manual said it was not possible! My 'expertise' is more practical than perfect and I hope that the topics that I cover here will help you get the best out of your instrument. My friend Jim Naraine managed to find a Yamaha DCD1 on Ebay - God knows how as they are VERY rare and turned his 20 year old Mk2 Disklavier into a new machine. Mainly he can now play Pianostream Analogue and also the full catalogue of 1500 original artist songs. Ask me for the link. Eventually he found an old 'clean' laptop with a media player that was devoid of ANY audio enhancements like 'Spa...

Just an early video suggesting ways to unbox and play your WAV files. I have skipped the bit where the files arrive 'dirty' and can be cleaned up if you want using the BULK RENAME UTILITY.
STOP!!! WATCH THIS IF YOU ARE RENAMING YOUR FILES!

Itunes Volume Guide

Sometimes there are marked differences between the volume levels of the 'piano' and the 'audio backing track' Having your WAV files in iTunes makes it easy to adjust this without having to resort to using audio file editors which gets a bit complicated. You can adjust a single track or a whole album. Hope it helps and sorry about the croaky voice....covid!

Bulk Renaming Plus iTunes

A very handy free utility making it easier to tidy-up album names etc. Your new WAV files normally turn up with a load of junk in front of the actual track name - which is all you want really. This hack lets you get rid of this without having to rename each track individually.

looking back at my record collection and david gray came back after seeing him play live in sheffield many years ago played some of his tunes and decided their and then i would check him out again came upon this , im so glad i did blew me away , made me feel humble in a strange sort of way thats the power of music .

Me too. David Gray was a favorite of my fiance and I. He passed away in 2010. We saw David in concert earlier that year. I don't think I could ever go to another of his shows...
