MOAB Wander Teaser Trailer

Jeep adventures in Moab, Utah, are an exhilarating way to explore the stunning red rock landscapes of the American Southwest. One of the reasons I bought a Rubicon, was for the front and rear dana 44 axles equipped with electronic lockers. That being said, the trails I have been going on are getting much more demanding, and I want a bit more peace of mind out on the trails. It's time for an axle swap! I've heard many Jeep folk say, if you're doing one-tons, you MUST go 8-lug; and if you're going 40s (or bigger) and ha...

I was invited on a trip to the MacKenzie River Trail; this trail is often referred to as the "Red Mountain" trail. It is another one of Alberta's more challenging trails. Jeep Rubicon Electronic Swaybar Disconnect Repair 2.0!

One of the reasons I bought the Rubicon package in 2012, when I was in the market for a Jeep, was the electrinic swaybar disconnect. But as with most vehicles, these luxury items often fail. In the stock diff cover the full hole might be in the right position
Yep; it's very likely. Worst case you can drill a custom hole higher up on the cover and use a bolt to keep it sealed. That wasn't an option for my ARB cover as it's extremely thick; not just a thin plate like the OEM cover.
Such an awesome video and it was so fun doing Top of the World trail with you. You got some great shots of it! Someday I hope to do the Mackenzie trail in Canada. Many years of off roading to come! -1995 4Runner

@@VoyagerOverland hahaha it’s not THAT bad. My wife says I’m not allowed to try it but…..

@@VoyagerOverland the steps at Marble are worse in a lot of ways…
Well done sir! I'm in the market and want 60’s on 40's (currently have stock Rubicon axles on 37's). After your Moab trip, would you recommend doing 60's front and rear?
If you’re going 40s YES to PR62s front and rear. For me, 37 is max; I would have to give my garage a lift-kit if I had 40s 🤪 in Moab my PR44U/PR62 combo was absolutely dialed. Loved it. Also, for 40s it’s best to have hydraulic steering.
To find out what happened to Cole and Dashell, go to the channel for Matt’s Off-road Recovery and search for the video “Off Road Rookie makes a BIG MISTAKE.” 😂
This gorgeous video deserves so many more views!
Glad you think so! Most of these longer adventure videos take a while to get discovered. I’m not doing this for a job (thank God) so I don’t pay attention to the traffic. I just want to put together the best little films I can and have fun doing so.
I look forward to this next winter. Got some life insurance and a winch.
@@johnmadsen37 it’s a fun trail. We were about 2KM away from some deep washouts. I really wanted to try them but we ran out of time.

@@JustEmptyEveryPocket I was focused on getting ralph settled. I wish I realized you wanted to do Hell's Gate, I would have spotted you.
Oh no; my rear flares would have popped off for sure; I popped one off on TotW...so yeah...next year! I know I need flat fenders but I've been fighting getting flat fenders for two reasons 1) I don't like the look 2) the ONLY onese I like are the nemesis industries ones and they're THE MOST EXPENSIVE by a mile. I did some trimming to the OEM flares this past weekend, so we'll see how they are next time out.
Awesome video! One of my favourites of yours! The cinemaphotography was beautiful. Top of the world was definitely my favourite trail that you did. That storm when you reached the top was really quite cool, even if you were disappointed you didn’t see the sunset.
Beautiful footage Cory. Moab is a mountain bike bucket list location for me and it looks like it would be a great time. I applaud your daughter...that takes a lot of guts to be stuck in a small vehicle with you for that length of time.
Oh yeah; the Sandflats Rec area is FULL of MTB trails! I can absolutely see that as a bucket list for bike nerds. HAHAH! It's not THAT small!!!

Can you get to the Limestone fire lookout from the connecter? I tried the regular way and it was blocked.
No.
@@JustEmptyEveryPocket bummer. I walked from the barricades towards the lookout and there is a trail that leads down to the east, but idk how to access it from the other side.

Nice! That should be a good video, cant wait for the next.
Great video with lots of detail points. What type and brand of diff fluid did you use for the front PR44?
I use Canadian Tire brand non-synthetic. If you’re in the USA, Castrol would be my go-to. Also, you do not need a limited slip additive since these are open differentials.
I'm in vancouver. I will definitely look up at CT for the fluid. Thanks again
@@OFF_THE_HWY_ADVENTUREit’s good stuff; my pal Jason has been using it in his ProRock 60s for 10y and they’re still going strong. His is a daily driver on 40s :P
I have PR44 as my front axel but not sure what type of fluid to use. So far I use 85w90 (I think that's the right type). I also have eaton e-lockers with 37's
I use 80W90 front and rear; nowhere near hot enough for the 140 weight. Double check the eaton manual; I don’t know anything about them or their requirements.
Thanks for this. I am getting a random chime and momentary sway bar light on the highway. It’s only happened twice, but thinking I will get ahead of this and get rid of the smartbar as you did.
I thought racehorse pass was closed on the bc side
This was explained in the video.
Hey man. I’ve got a ton of slop in my OEM steering. Like I can turn the wheel left and right by 8 inches and nothing will happen to the wheels. Does this kit address this issue? Do you know of anything I can do to fix this with the OEM equipment?
Your oem box is so done. Yes this will fix that. I just put Dynatrac axles in mine and drove 4500km to Moab. Drove like dream; 2 fingers on the wheel and no wondering on the highway. If you are planning on 40s you may want to go with the hydro assist option.
@@JustEmptyEveryPocket Thanks for the reply. Yeah I figured as much. I plan on going 39s (ko2s) with dynatrac axles here shortly. Can I install the steering box you have for now and add the hydro assist later? Thanks!
Yes; just leave the plugs in the box. Be sure to get the SG688R right away since you’re planning on going hydro. I was on the fence; can always port my SG688 later, but it handles my 37s with zero issues.
My wife get the same way when off-roading
Typical “F Trudeau” sticker drivers - always needing help 🙄😂
Could be worse…he could have been a Trudeau supporter!
Great video once more! I have the same setup as you in the rear and love it! Because things broke at different times, I have the Spicer Ultimate Dana 44 up front. At least it gives me some redundancy with having an air locker in the rear, and an e-locker in the front, but I wished I had Dynatrac on both ends. I went with the Falcon shocks after watching your video about them, and I'm glad I did. What a difference it makes indeed. Btw, did you weld the shock skid-plates or just bolted them on?
I just bolted them for now. Will weld them on when I get home from Moab. That being said, they haven’t moved.
Great video! Nice camera work! This looks like fun...makes me wanna take the ole Tundra out 😝
Mine locks and unlocks with no problems but the light flashes forever. So do I have to take everything apart and replace the sensor?
Most likely. If it’s locked the light should be solid…but that’s a big job for a minor inconvenience hehe. I would just live with it🤷🏻♂️
Took me a bit to realize who this was. Howdy cory, im digging the new project here
Hehehe thanks! The new projects will be put to the test in Moab tomorrow!
