After prepping a third grade class all summer I found out I am teaching first grade!!! You have saved me!!!
Yes please morning meeting 😊
Morning message please
Thanks for letting me know you are interested.
Will be substituting for KDG in the beginning of the school year for 12 weeks. Any tips appreciated.
thank you so much for sharing!!! all of my children would like to be the train head!!!
Yes. That is how my class was before I used this strategy. Now everyone can be the train head. 💕
So simple and so great! Thank you. I plan to use them all.
I’m glad you can use these ideas. 😀
Where do I get a copy of this?
Thanks for watching. You can find the link in this video’s description.
I’m going to use it all!❤❤❤
Yahooo. I’m glad you found it useful.
Aloha! Caroldyne from Maui, Hawaii. I teach grade 1.
Hello!!! Thanks for commenting. I’ve always wanted to go to Hawaii. ☀️🌴
I just found this video, and it is amazing! Thank you so much for this idea!
I’m glad you found this video. I’m even more glad you found it useful. 😀
I absolutely love you. Thank you so much for all of your videos! Not new to teaching, but very new to kinder.
I’m glad they are helpful. I’m excited for you taking on kindergarten. 😊
All the sound effects are distracting. I stopped watching.
Ok. Thanks for letting me know.
Thank you so much. You are soooooooooooo awesome.
I’m so glad it was helpful. Thanks for letting me know.
This is my 15th year of teaching in K-2nd grades. I loved this video as a reminder of procedures & routines I need to teach.
Very cool! ❤️
I’m glad you liked it.
I will have 23 students in K1 and 3 assistants. For teaching bathroom stuff, what should the other students do while I take a group of 6 to the bathroom?
Well it looks like you are going to have to do 4 groups to the bathroom. So you could maybe do some station time. Put your 3 assistants at one station each while you take a group. Then rotate them through. The 3 assistants could be doing anything. May you'd want to do a hand washing station to teach them how to wash their hands properly. The other two stations you could do some sort of activity/assessments to observe kids writing their name, reciting their address, birthday etc. This is a great time to figure out where your students are at with all those types of things.
What would happen when the jar was full of marbles?
Great question. Prior to you starting to put marbles in the jar you need to let your students know what happens when it gets filled up. They need to know the goal they are working towards. It can be anything from extra recess to extra free time or maybe a pajama day. Make it something that motivates them.
I love your content!!😄❤️💕
Thanks 😊. I appreciate your comment. 💕
Thanks very much for ypur prompt response. I will try toy shops
I found a cute llama puppet at a toy shop. No hands but the mouth is nice and soft so I can do m a lot of different expressions. I think that’s the key to a good classroom puppet.
Hi Angie. I would like to buy Max.where can I buy?
I got him out of a sample box of reading curriculum a long time ago. I don’t think he’s available anywhere. 😞
Hi Angie. Where can i buy a puppet
There is a comment somewhere amongst all of the comments for this video from someone who found max and purchased him. I think it was on eBay. Good puppets are surprisingly hard to find. Sometimes if you go to a high end toy store you can find a good puppet. Sorry that’s not super helpful. 😞
Could some of this work for preschoolers?
I think so. I think 4 year olds could do it. Of course you will have to make the line up promps age appropriate. Let me know if you do it. I’d love to hear how you modified it to suit your needs.
This was great! This is my favorite part of day ,too. I feel like the mornings sets the mood for the whole day. I love soft music because everyone has a hectic morning and this can be relaxing. I would look love to implement some transition music into my day. What do you use? I use my cell for everything, and I don't want to use that. My Promethean board would just be too complicated.
I used my phone and made a playlist that I could just access. I put the songs in order of how I used them in the day. Then I could find them fast. I also tried doing it on my smart board but that didn’t work for me. I had my phone hooked up to speakers. I had all my notifications off during my teaching time so my phone worked good for me. Maybe if you had an iPhone and watch you could control everything from your watch? Hummm I don’t know if that would work but it’s worth investigating.
@@TeachersMakingTheBasicsFun Okay. Thanks. Maybe I will try my cell phone and a Bluetooth speaker because I use it all the time anyways. I was just worried about the notifications and the Spam calls and the million of other reasons my phone might distract class.
During the winter months in the mornings, I have a fireplace with soft music playing on the Promethean board. During the summer and winter do you think a nice water fall or something with some soft music would be nice?
@@JayBababoiethat’s a great idea. Perfect mood setting idea. Thanks for sharing. ❤
@@JayBababoie I think airplane mode will help with all that. And when you have your phone with you it’s easy to play a song from anywhere in the room. You don’t have to walk over to a specific spot to start it. 👍
Love this. Can't find the "This to That" game board. Sure would like it.
Sure you can find it in the description of the video under “Free Resources “. Look for a url that ends with “cupgame”
Grandma wanting to help K to grade 1 child
Grandmas are a big big big help for kids. Let me know if you have any questions. 💕💕
This whole process would take about how long? Any website for the music you found you like best? Thank you! ❤
Good question!! The morning meeting length depends on how long you can keep them engaged. You have to build their stamina and the routines etc have to be taught and practiced. I would start with 10ish minutes and work up from there. As far as the songs and chants go I just found ones that worked in various places. Dr Jean is one of my favorites. I will try to made a download pdf of good sites to go for music and chants.
I bet your students have fun learning with you.
I always hoped that they were having fun. 😊💕
We call it “Teacher Jr.” and it works amazingly with first graders because they’re younger. The older grade levels may be able to handle the list of jobs independently so it’s easier for them. For us first grade teachers, this is THE best method to use! 🎉😊 I also, after the first 6-8 weeks will use descriptors of who is the teacher junior of the day by saying, “ This student has a brother, this student has brown hair, 2 syllables in their first name, etc.” This way they’re using the process of elimination to figure out who it is. We pull craft sticks out of a small bucket and I’m the only one who knows who it is. Later, I let students describe the clues! ☺️
Wow!! So many nuggets of teacher tips in your comment. I love your tips about using descriptors for revealing the next Teacher Junior. I bet the kids love it. Teaching at its best. 💕
Wow so helpful! Thank you for Sharing. You are a great teacher 😀
I’m glad you found it helpful. Thanks for letting me know you liked it. 😀
This is helping me grow confident and excited for my 1st kinder class 😊
Yahooooo. I’m so glad it is giving you ideas and confidence. That’s so cool.
How many times per week do I go over classroom rules with the puppet?
At first everyday. Don’t do it all in one day. Then build on it each day. So 5 rules 5 days. Then sporadically when they need a refresher. Remember they need to practice too. Just telling them won’t work. Explain, practice, reward.
I am going back to K after teaching 3rd for 6 years. I am glad to have found your channel. Thank you so much for your experience and inspiration to help me transition back to what I love.
I loved teaching 3rd but those young learners are so special. I’m glad you are returning to your first love. 💕💕
Can I have a copy of the worksheet mam thank? you
Yes the link for this freebie is in the description of the video. 😊
Thank you! I think my first day is going to be okay 👍. Returning teacher. Kindergarten.
You will do great. I’m cheering for you. 💕💕
They don't listen. I could be blasting a line up song and they're all yelling over it. And they constantly fight.
Start by practicing. Tell them exactly what you want to see. Then practice and reward. Practice and reward. Then practice and reward some more. Then try it for real and reward some more. Just make sure you are being super explicit about what you want to see and expect.
@@TeachersMakingTheBasicsFun thanks so much! I actually tried Hocus pocus and it works. I practiced with them and they love showing me they have their "focus glasses" on.
@@TeachersMakingTheBasicsFun oh woops! I was watching so many videos on the topic of getting kids to listen that I forgot this isn't the video of the hocus pocus everybody focus.
Angie, What do you use to make the songs the length that you want them? Do you cut them or ? I can not find the songs you use in the length that you say you have . Help?
I usually just stopped them mid song on my phone. I had a playlist with the songs I used and in the general order in which I used them during the day and then I didn’t have to search for them. I also did a CZcams playlist list with songs.
I would be happy to learn more about classroom management in the kindergarten
Great!!! I will try to get more videos up asap. 😊
Cover pages are really cool
This year’s will look a little different. I hope you like it.
Please I can’t seem to find the link to download the material for the teacher binder
Sure. Just look in the description of this video. It’s under the words “featured freebie” or something like that.
I am very grateful to have found you thank you!
I’m so glad you found me too and are getting some good ideas for your classroom.
Thank you for your videos! Do you have any videos for older elementary teachers? Like 3rd grade?
While I taught third grade (and loved it) these videos are made with the k-1 teacher in mind. Sorry nothing specific for 3rd grade. I know a lot of middle school teachers like some of the classroom management videos.
I will be doing it all! Thank you ❤
Awesome. 😎
I am going to use this advice with my 7th graders! I've been teaching 21 years.
That makes me smile. It’s amazing how much kids are alike no matter the age. 😊
All your advice is genius...I needed this...I teach middle school!
Thanks!!! I’m so glad it will work for you in middle school too. 😊
1st time teacher. You are a gold mine! I need everything you have
I’m glad you found the channel. I hope to be adding lots of new content to help you navigate your first year and beyond.
Morning Message, please!
Actually working on it right now. I think I’m going to have to do a series because it’s such an important part of the day and there’s lots of little details that help it run smoothly and make it super effective. 😊
Thank you for all your videos! I am a new TK teacher and love the 12 station 2 partner idea! My student teacher class had 4 groups with 4 stations, 1 being a teacher led center. Is one of your stations for you specifically? or do you just call kids and partners up through the centers to work with them individually? I will continue watching your videos, I am learning so much!! <3
Great question. I actually do both depending on what I need to get accomplished. Mostly just call them to me. Then if we get done early like what happens with my middle to high level kids, they can go back to their station after I’m done with them. But if I do need a group for longer, I can easily do that. That’s the beauty of stations - being able to really customize and give kids what they need.
I’m also terrible at drawing!! I love all your ideas!!! You’re an invaluable resource! 💕💕
I'm glad they will help you. I've learned it all the hard way...Whewww.
@@TeachersMakingTheBasicsFun I’ve been blessed so far in my career to have colleagues who are experienced and wise. And to have the internet to look up people like you who are also experienced and wise.

Amazing job! Will use these tips this upcoming year
If you have any questions please let me know.
@@TeachersMakingTheBasicsFun would you personally recommend modeling and demonstrating behaviors for the whole class or in their small groups?
Great ideas! I haven’t really used small groups before and I’m going to use them this coming year so I liked all your ideas! Thanks
I'm so glad it was helpful. Small group time is so fun.
