Love remembering it like that. Wonderful post.
Hawaii was invaded and STOLEN by the USA. Leave it back to the people. As Samoa, Virgin Islands......
how do i get this job
They're like the puppy dogs of the ocean
Starkey Farmstead
This term, "sacred" is overused. Its a political buzzword.
Does paddling rlly help?
Holding the wind and paddling your asses off ... pure adrenaline. Thank you!
That is just so very exciting to imagine being on board that sailing canoe, rocketing along toward Maui...
Is the mainsheet block set " flying" on this rig? it seems to be placed on a bridle of some sort, quite a height above the heads of the paddlers. I want to try!!😮
They've managed to ruin just about all the nice beaches on Maui with horrible hotels and stupid golf courses.
Mahalo nui loa to each of you. So proud to be Hawaiian! God bless you all and all that each of you do 🫶💝🙏
Not the real Maui or Hawaii
'o ia ke 'ano o kaho'olawae a nani ho'i
For some reason I am very interested in this island
Thank you nice!
We were married on Maui at Makena
Maui no ka oi
can white people go there
What a beautiful video. No worries about unexploded ordinance anymore?
Wow, you helped build a primitive trail?! That's so crazy and impressive! Ha ha 😂
This is true. The island has a certain life force that intoxicates you with wonder. I've had some pretty weird dreams about this island. I believe I saw the souls of ancient warriors floating above the island and was very creepy. I've been to all the other islands (except Niihau) and this one draws me the most.
don't do drugs
I love the video
It’s good to see this beautiful island return to its people and no longer being used for target practice. 😎✌️🙏
There’s still bombs surrounding it though
Oh Dang! Is it inhabited?
...I was five years old living in Kuau on the north shore...we went to Lahaina regularly particularly for the... Whaling Spree...🐋...and my to visit my uncle's house on Front Street down by...Pu'umana...
I know kaanapali is a corporate creation but I still dig it. A Hawaiian dude still jumps into the ocean off black rock every night. Ok corny but fun. I will say in my dozen or so visits I’ve never seen a single person wearing a suit let alone a tuxedo. Lol
It saved my soul.
Mixed emotions watching these type videos. On the one hand you have this idea of paradise which we were brainwashed with and i admit it is a heavenly idea... but you can't get around the fact that these wonderful islands and practically the whole country is colonized... invaded... Lots of Hawaians probably harbour some anger underneath all those bright smiles. Some islands even want to remain isolated if i understand correct. As humans we have such an indestructive will to think good of ourselves and deny what's lurking from within the darkness of our soul.
Excellent reminder of why I am here now!
Lucky you
I love to see how people dressed back then. Suits and dresses with heels.
Even in the tropical heat
I worked at the Maui Marriott Resort when it opened December 1981.
Wow my mom was a line cook there
That first image of Maui with hardly any houses hurt my heart. I miss the old days so much.
I was born in March 1964😁
Same here 👍🌴🌴🌴🌴🤙🏼
God that was breathtakingly beautiful, beyond words.
The Sheraton is just as ugly and dated now (2021) as it was then.
You should see some of our coastal cities (in Belgium).... It's the unwritten realm of 'ugly'... If you wouldn't know any better you'd think they're trying to scare tourist away...
I saw it a couple days ago and it was ok. Not something you give a second thought to though
That's Paul Lu'uwai, a former colleague from King Kekaulike High School in Kula, Maui.
Suntanning with slacks and his loafers on. That was going all out back then.
This is bjutuful
Mahalo nunui for sharing this short and sweet informational video - and your help protecting hawksbill sea turtles on Maui. We so appreciate the continued support from community members and local businesses like Hawaiian Paddle Sports! *All monitoring and excavation activities are carried out by trained Hawai‘i Wildlife Fund biologists and volunteers operating under endangered species permits with state and federal agency partners (NOAA, FWS, DLNR). These HWF research and conservation efforts of the honu‘ea (hawksbill sea turtle) and this video helps educate the public. Never touch, approach, or harass sea turtle hatchlings or adults in the wild. Mahalo :) To learn more about volunteering or to make a donation to our nonprofit to support this critical work, please visit our website at www.wildhawaii.org.

Monk Seals are not vegetarians and they don't play with turtles. I think this turtle's swimming days are over. I see blood around it's neck and under it's flippers. Sniff!
Monkseal: "My turtle's broken. Ummma eat."
Good work, thank you
