My partner ignored all the signs and absolutely refused to go to the ER in the first couple of days. He consented to go to an urgent care where they said he had “a virus”. He had sepsis and infective endocarditis. He was getting better until he went into A-fib. The infection was not clear from his brain and when they gave him anticoagulants he had a massive stroke and died. Never ever ignore these symptoms.

I am a 68yo woman in Iowa, in the US. In June 2023, I thought I had a cold. Runny nose, cough (but nothing came up), very tired. Prior to this date I had episodes of violent vomiting, and I would fill wastebasket with "green swamp water"! Other times I would be laying in bed and suddenly vomit food from the last three days. Then, I began seriously hallucinating. Scared my son, who lives with me (43YO)to death! I thought he had moved me in my sleep to a log cabin. I destroyed my room because I thought all these people were in there with me. Doctor tried to tell me that I had a UTI. I didn't. Ambulance driver told me I was taking to much of my pain meds. I wasn't. He actually snickered and said, "yeah, I bet your hallucinating on those drugs..." and then laughed and left. I could never get my resting heart rate below 100. Finally, on June 10th, I keep coughing this croupy cough. All I could get off my lungs was this thin, yellow stuff. I was having my son pat my back, thinking it would move the stuff. At the point that he was literally beating on my back, he stopped and said he was calling an ambulance. My heart was going crazy! It was 159 when I got to the hospital. I was in AFIB. I was immediately taken to CT to scan my lungs. In the left lower lobe there was a dark glob of infection. I had severe pneumonia. I also had severe sepsis. I didn't even know what that was, and they were very tight lipped about it. But, I noticed that people began to wear gowns, gloves and masks whenever they came in. Had to have a chest tube put in for 10 of the 12 days I was in. I was getting cups full of pills and had IV antibiotics. They never talked to me about sepsis...severe sepsis! I had to do all my own research after the fact. I honestly worry that all of the infection is not gone. My lung hurts to this day when I take a deep breath. But, I was sent home with NO special instructions and no antibiotics! Why is it like this? I never knew how close to death I was until a nurse made everyone in the trauma bay stop and so she could ask me, "Deb, do you give us permission to crack open your chest if we need to?" Then I was scared. Yet, no one ever addressed sepsis with me. My heart goes out to this man. My story is nothing compared to his. He has helped me to understand WHY I feel like I didn't bounce back. I thought I was just old and my chronic conditions had gotten worse. Thank you, and sorry I rambled a bit. Do take care of yourself, and keep us up to date on how you are doing. God bless...

I recently lost my cousin from Sepsis. Her husband went to visit her at her rehab center. She had fallen and broken her ankle 3 places. They gave her a pain med that completely covered her body in puss filled blisters. Along with that she had afib. While in rehab she was left in her room most of the time. No additional antibiotics for the blisters she still had. Her husband visited her and said something is wrong my cousin (sweetest ever) told him to go home she's ok. Refused to leave. He made them to send her to hospital. They did whatever they did and sent her back to rehab. He still knew she wasn't getting better. He went home at the urging of my cousin and then He Got THE CALL. CAUSE OF DEATH SEPSIS.

Very nice wood & metal work! I will go to Etsy. Btw...Love your sepsis video too. Thank you for making that. I shared it with people bc it is so important for folks to know about. I'm in the US & had my own episode of infection, which led to septic shock 3 yrs ago. Septic Shock is different. But have crossovers, as both are the immune system's reaction to what it sees as a pathogen. The two still get confused all the time. Both can lead to Post Septic Syndrome, which I also have. Ugh! So weary from it, though it's getting better. I wish you the best getting over yours. I'm going comment further over on your sepsis video.

Thank you for sharing. I had a friend who was bitten by a spider on her ankle last year. Within a few days she had sepsis and was out of her mind fighting her family because she didn’t want to go to the hospital. They didn’t understand she wasn’t being difficult, her mind was not working. It has been almost a year and she may never walk. Her ankle may never heal and you can see the actual ankle bone. There is little information shared about sepsis but it is deadly and if you don’t die from it, various organs can be permanently damaged so TAKE IT SERIOUSLY! And be your own advocate if no one is taking you seriously! While visiting with your family and friends, share these stories so others can be more aware of the symptoms! You may save a life!

I only found out I had,had Sepsis until my son read my discharge papers when I came home. I had pneumonia January22 and admitted to hospital on 23 January, my son found me at 2am down stairs sat on my chair in my own sloppy poo. He had to clean me up and put me in clean clothes before he took me to A and E.. Iknew nothing about this becauseI was completely out of it. My kidneys were closing down, I was having difficulty breathing,it felt as if I had wet mud in my lungs when I breathed. . I was in a delirium, two nights I was sure nurses were planning to kill me,then a naive storm was going to destroy the strange place I was lying in. (Ihad no idea I was in hospital. My temperature was boiling and yet I was shivering . After 4 days I began to be more aware of where I was, and felt better E every time my son came to visit me,and also my friends. Since Sepsis,my legs don’t move as they used to when I walk,my knees are stiff, every joint aches far worse than they ever did,I have arthritis for years but it’s far worse now, I know my sanity has been compromised. I’m 78 years old woman I feel 100.years old . …..Since sepsis I feel I’m mentally and physically walking through treacle. Thankyou so much for your video xx

Similar scenario for me but a better, quicker outcome. Nicked the side of my left index finger while cleaning my motorbike Saturday morning, tiny nick around 3mm. By suppertime the nick was red and swollen so rubbed some Savlon in it. Went to bed and next morning woke up with my finger on fire and track marks up the inside of my forarm & bicep. Wife drove me to A&E and in the 20 minute trip the track marks were showing on the side of my neck and finger was swelling and whole hand was burning terribly. In A&E they told me to sit down and wait, within 10 minutes was getting delerious and feeling faint. Managed to stumble the 30 feet over to the receptionist to slur ''I'm going unconcious I think I've got blood poisoning ! Rushed me into a treatment room where I told them to cut my finger off cos the burning was so painful in my arm. Four I.V. bags of broad spectrum anti-biotics later they got my temperature down and the burning became just tolerable. Emergency Doctor said just bad luck with bad bacteria and if I'd have waited for an ambulance I'd probably be dead. Sent me home the next day with a necrotic area on my finger that most of the skin fell off ! Scary stuff mate and can't be underestimated and we're similar age, keen cyclist and fit. Luckily my finger healed and I've never had any reoccurring symptoms and that was around eight years ago. I do take much more care with nicks and knocks now and have even more of an eye on my general health cos I was under a lot of stress at work & home at the time and I knew I was low. Take care, get good rest, reduce stress and above all Good Luck 😉

Had to laugh, but it dose sound stupid when your mind plays tricks on you, I know Although I could tell I was in hospital in my mind i was in a tent with doctors and nurses coming in and out,, on a sloping green trying not to slide down on the grass and one time a doctor with a turban was talking with me in front of a London route master bus. Now to be truthful I was not aware of meeting a Doctor as I had fallen unconscious soon as i got taken in the hospital but the Doctor who delt with me on my arrival was a Indian man wearing a turban whom looked exactly the same . Sepsis has affected me more than having cancer, We went through similar affections though I hope your recovery will be quicker, Unfortunate for me the sepsis got into the spine and caused no feelings from waist down. Learning to walk was a challenge but although with help of a stick and being very tiring I have managed. I was in hospital last year including Christmas went home on the 29th December but back in hospital 30 hours later to spend new year there. I was told I had Sepsis a few times but i could not remember what i was told after a few minutes. When young I had what was then called blood poisoning ended up in a wheel chair for a time the trigger to my sepsis was A-Cdif (it was killing lots of babies that caught it last year and is a notifiable illness+

You made some very important points in your video that others need to recognise, even doctors or partners need to look out for. 1. Swelling of any part of the body with me it was my face, 2. High or low blood. (Mine was very low) 3. high temperature. 4.feeling of having a bad cold or flu. 5. Weakness in legs and balance . cold outer extremity's this includes hands, feet, ears and nose (I do not have a nose or one ear with circulation owing to cancer operations but that is a separate problem but the reason is with sepsis bloods are cut off by your body as it try's to keep main organs functioning. and one good thing to do is to try to put pen to paper (I tried to rite a shopping list for my friend to get some things from the chemist it was unreadable. of course there are other signs but having two or more of these signs dose mean you must get checked out. i will recommend exercise and even balance course (i am on a course now meant for people whom have had hip or knee operations. The group i am with in Kent is called INSIGHTsimilar@@philwood1683
