Festival of Steam at Hesston Labor Day Weekend 2024
A festival of steam at Hesston. On Saturday, August 31, 2024, we took a trip to visit the Hesston Steam Museum, located in La Porte, Indiana, just south of the Michigan/Indiana border off I-94, just five miles east where TM Books & Video is located, which we also visited to pay respects to the McComas family. At Hesston, we were treated to a wide variety of steam equipment ranging from railroad locomotives, tractors, and an operating saw mill. Nikolas Worden of Worden Entertainment captured all of the action going on at the event from the steam tractors giving demonstrations, to the christening of the museum's largest steam tractor "Avery", to riding all three trains the museum offers. Plus seeing the museum's replica of Baltimore & Ohio Railroad's historic Tom Thumb locomotive, plus seeing the saw mill in action.
A huge thank you to all of the staff and volunteers at the Hesston Steam Museum for putting on a fantastic event and helping keep the history of steam alive, no matter how big or small.
If you are ever in the area, the Hesston Steam Museum is a must see operation you won't want to miss.

Well, it doesn't get any cooler than that.......
Nice 👍
Iconic whistle Nikolas.
Awesome as usual. Back in town so I will tear down the camelback
@@UncleSalty-nz5uk sound good.
Beautiful set. You're lucky to have it.
Neat Nikolas.
Great footage of the Hesston Steam Museum Nikolas.
Cool set! Do you know when you’ll upload more videos that feature QSI products? Just wondering
@@WilltheTrainandAnimeFan I will at some point. It's hard to say as I am preparing the layout for other projects that I need to take care of first.
Ricky Craven made me love this song more.... Watch the 2003 Carolina Dodge Dealers 400 and you'll see what I mean. The last Pontiac NASCAR win that was epic.
You make that Nikolas?
Did you make that Nikolas?
My grandfather did
Looks really good! Great job. 👍
I’ve lived in WNY my whole life. Even those who dare not tread in the stormy lakes suffer its effects each winter with “lake effect” snow.
Chris latta(the voice of Cobra commander and Star scream) did a great job of dubbing Jerry's voice in these deleted scenes! Another notch to add to his fabulous voice acting credit!!
Did the passenger cars come with the engine Nikolas?
No, I purchased them separately
Beautiful locomotive!
@@UncleSalty-nz5uk Thanks! I'll be doing a full overview video on this engine with its significance. I never thought I would ever get the chance to acquire this locomotive.
@wordenentertainment1997 That's a piece of history there, sir!
Where can i get the protosound kit?
@@swag858 well they are tough to find considering they have been out of production since 1999. Your best bet is to ask around on some of the o gauge or model railroad groups.
Absolutely perfect! Great job man!
I'll be working on some more high quality videos for my Tom McComas tribute series.
Great video!
A series of much better videos will be coming. I'll get to work on them after my weekend vacation.
Great tribute to Tom McComas Nikolas.
That's a great video!
Ever watched In Focus Trains Nikolas?
Wow! A good sounding Lionel 😂
@@UncleSalty-nz5uk Funny how you said that, as Pat Quinn and Fred Severson who formed qsi developed the reverse and sound units originally as an aftermarket alternative for their Lionel trains. This one has an ac reverse unit that is wired to the motor.
@@wordenentertainment1997 Thought I heard a buzz....
Cool Nikolas. What got you into QSI in the first place?
Through TMs shows that used their sound files for effects. Then I watched the toy train Revue videos and discovered QSI.
Just like in Toy Train Revue 2
@@PetersTrainz yeah. I've been after for one of these for quite a while. They fetch a pretty penny, but I got lucky with this one. I'd love to find the sound boxcar made to go with this.
Nice!
Sally field frog little enis
I’ve lived in Michigan all my life and I will never forget this. The lakes are all beautiful but can be dangerous too. My birthday is November 11th and is always a reminder. RIP to the crew and Gordon Lightfoot who created this remarkable tribute.
I like to find one of these.
I remember seeing thus when it was contemporary, so wonderful going back to when the world was happy. Sounds like Rich Melvin narrator.
Well excuse the comment, 2001 was a horrible year, too.
That is Rich Melvin narrating. He was contracted by MTH to do a number of videos for them.
@wordenentertainment1997 he is one of the best, if not the best. He is publisher of the best publication for O gauge railroading.
@@gusshadleythelunaticfromar7125 He and the late Tom McComas of TM Books and Video really did an amazing job of capturing model railroading for entertainment and the hobby.
Tom McComas died Nikolas.
Yeah I heard sadly. I'll be doing a series of tribute videos for him soon.
Neat Nikolas. Made a video of the cars on my layout.
This soundtrack can work in a Runaway train film or any other film with the same plot.
Got a favorite Alco diesel Nikolas?
This N gauge video inspired me not to just buy N scale but N gauge (rapido couplers) as well for I had them when I started, unfortunately my focus in the past was mainly Ho and some O, but now it’s N full time and I oddly like the n gauge trains more than the old Lionel (still good stuff though). My only question is are there anymore n scale videos besides this 1? I’d like to learn more about the layout with the Conrail trains.
@@manderschannel2275 i talked to Don Varda about that, this was the only video he did on N scale.
Works great Nikolas.
Oh yeah.
mile long swells on the ocean are not too much of a problem for a 700 foot long vessel that short steep seas would over stress
That really works!
@@UncleSalty-nz5uk it sure does
Ever see Bee Movie Nikolas?
Yes
Have you seen Dadified’s new ROW Bull Moose Nikolas?
Yes. Mike is a friend of mine and I won a UP bay window caboose from him.
Oh hey it’s me
Same here
General Motors was forced to shut down Pontiac because the federal government forced the company to get rid off its less profitable divisions in order to receive bailout money. GM would never have closed Pontiac
Everybody’s views on trains in general. Particularly people in North America. When they associate it with people with a disability and such in a condescending manner.
Relatable Nikolas.
Ever fixed a Postwar engine Nikolas?
I fixed a few.
Clean install sir!
@@UncleSalty-nz5uk that's one of the things I love about QSI sound boards, they're very easy to install. It's a shame that they stopped producing 3 rail equipment and eventually went out of business.
@wordenentertainment1997 I totally agree. We've lost a lot of good manufacturers in O gauge
Sounds great Nikolas.
Cool! Is that a QS-1 sound system in it?
@@WilltheTrainandAnimeFan yes
I thought I read somewhere that some Williams locomotives had factory installed QSI reverse....
@@UncleSalty-nz5uk Probably from 1990 and onward they did. My Williams GS-4 from 1989 didn't have a QSI reverse unit from the factory. I had to buy one separately and drill a new mounting hole for it.
@wordenentertainment1997 Hey Nikolas, check your email. Received tender today and unit is non functional
@@UncleSalty-nz5uk oh no, it was working when I packed it in. Sorry but I don't see the email message.
@@UncleSalty-nz5uk just got your email. Is the sound cutting off immediately or is it turning off after a few seconds? What transformer are you using?
@@wordenentertainment1997 Z4000
How cool is that!
