Never ever sheer
How come? Getting ready to take back control of some azaleas this week or next (zone 7b). Looking for all the advice I can find! Green thumb aunt says just wait till all the blooms have dropped and start hacking at them. 🤷♂️
@@WalterBurtonmain thing is to prune them enough so they don’t get out of control and too tall. They are a bush not a hedge so don’t over prune them or you will have bare spots where they flower next year. Its almost impossible to kill them, I’ve chopped the main branches 12” to the ground and they have come back as a beautiful bush in a few years. I know its not recommended to do that but just know that they are hard to kill. Never prune them late summer or you will remove next years flowers.
