most schools and theatres do, yet in this case they were obviously showcasing the orchestra as well as the stidents. plus, even if the orchestra is in a pit, it looks really weird if the actors/actresses are looking down to see the conductor, so even in that case they have a monitor of the conductor on the dress circle or balcony.

not very strange, it happens in most musicals and orchestra accompanied situations.

This kid has a great voice, nice job all the way around.

there is a camera filming the front of the conductor. The output of that camera was shown on a tv screen behind the audience so that the singers could see the conductor
