    Just stumbled upon this now and love how it promotes an attacking, positive mindset so definitely going to try it with our boys. One question. I noticed that the attacking team always start on their 22. After points are scored is this the default? Like at 03:55, there is a kick exit and the team get 6 points. Do you restart from where it went out or go back to the 22? Thank you in advance.

    • @TheBigBreakdownHQ
      @TheBigBreakdownHQ Před 2 měsíci

      Thanks for your feedback Scott. So in that situation you could restart from where the ball goes out of play. If you have the numbers reward the attacking team with a line out. Just increase their phases to 4 or 5 for a gain line advantage. If they don’t get a gain line advantage you can go back to the 22 or go back to the line out and let them try again. If they have an error go back to the 22. Replicates similar consequences to what might happen in a game. Hope this helps!

    One of the younger teams of the club that I film for purchased the VEOCAM 2 and I was quickly told by them that I would soon be out of a job, I'm still filming. I did think that this might have been a business opportunity hiring out the kit to clubs, but the subscription service is flawed in my opinion. There is no comparison with a broadcast quality camera that costs upwards of £2,000 and the VEOCAM, plus the intuition ones gets from filming hundreds of hours of games over the years. It's OK but don't be misled, anyone with a half decent camera setup and a good tripod can achieve better results, as long as they are able to gain a high enough vantage point.

      @@TheBigBreakdownHQ Thanks what about the V2 of this camera? Also, I am personally a soloist like many other clubs filming games and live streaming. So cameras like this offer a big interest to see how this is going to go. Does V2 offer better zooming in across the field? This would be a clincher for a lot of rugby clubs. I am total against continuous subscriptions when you own the gear outright, there should at least be a level of free. Love how the software breaks down the games into lineouts, scrums, restarting etc, that to me is an awesome feature.

      Hi John, pleased you enjoyed the video. Where are you based? You could make it work with these numbers, and just make the pitch smaller. I also have another game which I’m going to post (just needs recording!) Which might help also. Essentially an attacking team gets 2 phases, and on the second phase you have to kick or score. Reward good territory kicks (where the team kicking gains an advantage and the ball goes out of play) by allowing the team who kicked to keep the ball. 3min blocks of this is a killer but demonstrates the importance of territorial kicking even with small numbers. Thanks for that team. Another really good podcast with interesting thoughts. Learning what people want to get out of their rugby is so important. I am working with a senior squad with 3 teams and have a real drive to create a #oneclub mentality, where everyone can get the most from that rugby experience. 1st team players may want to get something different out of training to a 3rd team player. Getting that balance feels like a constant process.

    • @TheBigBreakdownHQ

      Thank you for the reply Jonny. We completely agree, it's a balance that coaches at multiple levels are constantly looking to get. We believe that is important that coaches share their stories of this balancing act, as it will allow others to learn and potentially offer strong insights. We look to explore this in much greater depth throughout the upcoming season and hopefully beyond with a number of guests sharing their own experiences in their environments.

      @@TheBigBreakdownHQ Sounds good. I am focused on forwards within my club so am making a point of messaging people directly, across all levels, and asking them directly (I tend to think being direct gets the quickest response). That one to one contact feels more personal to me. We all know that within clubs, whether we like to believe it or not, each team tends to think that there are cliques amongst the other teams or groups within the club so hopefully, by communicating with everyone directly, some of those barriers can be broken down. I have played for teams, where the head coach has done an amazing job for the first team, getting them promotion, but the club as a whole has gone from 3 teams down to 2 because of fringe players or those of lower ability become disillusioned. I guess, one of the questions to ask as a coach is what is your role? Am I a first team coach or am I a club coach?

    Really good Podcast guys. Looking forward to more to come. Interesting point on differentiation within sessions. It is something that is automatic within education in schools but one that isn't always thought about so much within a coaching session. A video on how to differentiate for different abilities within a team would be really useful. How do we make sure we push the best whilst supporting those that are still grasping the basics?

      Thanks for the feedback Jonny and engaging with the post! We will be looking in detail about the "how" in Episode 4, 5 and 6 so watch out for them coming soon. We also have a number of videos in the pipeline to support coaches with game design and differentiation. We are just waiting for restrictions to be lived so we can get out on the training pitch. Episode 2 will be available form 9AM tomorrow! Thanks again for the feedback.
