A much better approach would be to have a shield more akin to early anti-tank guns, ie with a degree of curvature, and designed to be pushed, not pulled. A slightly wider curved shield would obviously weigh a bit more, but the increased protection would be significant. Also, by being pushed forward, it could be deployed in a tactical situation (pushed out from behind cover, eg to protect an EMS team).

I don't run the ear muffs hearing protection. I run the in the ear type. That way, if I have to ditch the helmet, I still have hearing protection. I also run a white light because that is more useful for what I need. My eye protection are a good set of glasses. Again, if I need to ditch the helmet I still have eye protection. It does matter what you do and how you're running your equipment.

This guy has a seriously faulty understanding of helmet mount component compatability. One of the primary jobs of any competent armorer or quartermaster is to make things work together. Whether it's a drop in part, or needs to be modified, you come up with some kind of solution, or you aren't going to be a guy I trust to supply helmets.

applying ancient war technology like the shield and spear can make the modern soldier have more survivability in the battlefield. all soldier must have ballistic shield, the size use in crowd control, that can stop a 7.62 caliber or even a .50 caliber slug then on the other hand is using the "spear" a 5.56 or 7.62 rifle. a soldier in open ground can have more survivability with the ballistic shield and a rifle.
