I always wanted to see how Evan Call was like. There ain't a lot of westerners doing soundtrack for anime but once I watched Violet Evergarden I was completely blown away by its sound. It's really interesting to know how the pieces of music are briefed into him with those broad concepts like the 'existence as existence' thing, but it worked cause every song in Automemories is a feeling almost, kinda like Violet herself discovers what feelings truly are. The soundtrack almost breeds such feelings into you slowly. Most importantly, you mentioned woodwind as an instrument, but I'd also add the harp into the mix cause their combination made the soundtrack so distinct from everything I've seen from anime, film, gaming, anything. It's gentle, soft AND innocent at the same time. I really can't stress enough how Violet's track is amazing, for me it had as much weight to the story as the script itself lmao. Never Coming Back, The Ultimate Price and Across the Violet Sky are masterpieces.

This is just like, blatantly incorrect? Pandiatonicism is equivalency through all the notes of a diatonic scale, ie, within a single key of 7 notes, not all twelve. This just isn’t a pandiatonic passage. I also don’t know what “more extended” is supposed to mean? Like that the notes are getting farther away? That isn’t really what an extension is. I don’t think using 14th and 15ths really means what you’re implying - with the incredibly rare exception of like scales that change over different octaves, those terms aren’t even really used, atleast in the way you are, they’re just sevenths and octaves, which aren’t “more extented” than an 11th or 13th.. Also, sure some of these are less “typical” extensions like over the Db, but then over C, which by your logic should be “more extended” it becomes incredibly stable, a C5, which is the as not extended as you can get
