I’m planning a 15/20 state road trip this summer and planning to sleep in my car(ford focus) but not sure where I would fell safe parking and sleeping for the night, do you have any recommendations on places to stay safe at night as a solo traveler? 🤗

I actually had no idea about nurovirus. Huh! I wonder if it can come from the poop? Maybe bring some walnut and wormwood and some activated charcoal?

If you’re reading this in 2024 please go ahead and call the cops if there is someone sketchy and threatening others. Whether the police are going care or not isn’t what you should worry about. It is possible that the call could save someone’s life. MAKE THE CALL. Just do it.

I appreciate the more informative presentation than merely hiker experiences. So many are positive and therefore misleading. Some influencers won’t even call them a cult, which is very obviously what they are according to the definition of a cult. I recently watched a podcast where the two hikers were saying they wouldn’t call it a cult and had good experiences there. They encouraged doing one’s one research, which is great, but putting such a happy face on the twelve tribes made me very uncomfortable.

I have to say, it's baffling that personal protection isn’t considered on a hike of this caliber. You are encountering strangers down on their luck, in the middle of nowhere, not to mention animals that can easily have the drop on you. The natural world is not for the weak. Get comfortable with weaponry, and learn how to use it.

I'd do an emoji if I knew how! My experience with TM is on the PCT especially Nor Cal and Oregon. We have been doing trail magic for about 10 years at three different locations. We provide cold drinks, fresh fruit and pastries, sometimes coffee but no cooked food. We also bring extra mosquito repellent (Oregon mosquitoes are notorious), wet wipes and offer to haul out trash. We also give occasional rides especially in "emergency" situations. We have never announced on Farout but on occasion hikers have posted about us. The biggest problem we have encountered in recent years is the proliferation of fee-based services such as shuttles masquerading as "trail magic". Otherwise it is all good - we enjoy meeting the hikers and hope we've made their journey a bit better.
