Located on Staten Island, Fort Wadsworth was a key military installation protecting New York City. The remains of many buildings are still here to explore.

This was a very informative video and I liked how thourough you were. Not too many old school VW shops around. I’m currently troubleshooting my 86’ Westy’s dealership installed a/c unit further complicated by an AAZ swap and this helped a lot.

Not a desirable model that is in very poor condition.
IIRC in the 70's VW's were supposed to have an oil change every 3000 miles or one year (which ever came first) and a major service at 6000 miles or one year (which ever came first). Compare that to today!
@@chrisst8922 ahhh the good old days 👍
In the UK VW described that design of wheel as Marathon wheels.
@@chrisst8922 Thanks for the info, and for watching!
In the UK the Plymouth Cricket was the Hillman Avenger. The tail lights are unique.
@@chrisst8922 they should have used the Avenger name in the U.S.
Nine digit VW part numbers are an example of German ingenuity. In the case of this relay, 133 refers to the model number. A Beetle is a Type 1, so the number starts with a 1. If it were a Type 2 Transporter it woud start with a 2, part number 211 xxx xxx for example. Type 3's would be 311 and Type 4's 411. The three digits increase to illustrate the exact model. The second group, the 919 is a nine because all electrical parts are 9's. Body parts start with an 8. The 431 identifies the part specifically, the relay was a late addition to the model so it's no surprise that it's quite a high number. Sometimes there will be letters after the part number, like an A for example. If the design of 133 919 431 was improved so that it was less likely to fail then the number might be 133 919 431 A. I've seen VW part numbers ending with letter like E or G or more where the part has been refined several times. VW parts for one type were used on different types. Type 4 dashbord instrument clusters were fitted to late Karmann Ghia's so you'd find a 411 part on a Type 1 Karmann Ghia. Parts for Beetles were the most commonly used parts on the other types. This relay for instance would have been fitted to all the other types to operate their fasten seatbelt signs.

How did that bolt head possibly shear off if it was loose enough for a center punch spring-loaded tool to remove it? Threads look perfect. Anyways a Dremel tool also works and provides a whole bunch of vibration and burrs you a new little starting point.
@@mattg726 It was on a steering box on a utility vehicle that has been abused for years one bolt was missing the other 2 sheared off. Not very rusty from grease leaking around it. The dremel is a good idea. 👍

Hi I tried mine and did it twice. The first time I use too much Honda bond I then cleaned it and re tried with much less. It seems okay but I have a question. I'm new to all this. When I leave the car on for a bit and run my finger along the gasket I can what feels like moisture or sweat around the gasket. It doesn't smell like oil and I can't see any leaks. Is this somewhat normal?
@@fluffycat6489 it could be the gasket material giving off moisture from inside, eventually it should stop. Thanks for watching.

Hi, found you video while trying to figure out a simple answer for my 65 El Camino fuse board. Does the board has a grounding connection? Or to make it more complicated I have a issue with my electric fuel pump. It buzzes louder when I tipping the breaking pedal or push the light on. I think I have a grounding issue somewhere.
Don’t think the fuse block is grounded. Check where your fuel pump power is coming from probably tied into the wrong place seeing that it wasn’t built with an electric pump originally. Thanks for watching
Thanks for the video, i have cylindre 3 misfire as well, but after checking with the electrician, i was told that the ignition coil is always branched and it wad very hot, and also the driver in memory responsible for generating signals to ignition coils is not working and need to be changed, i am a beginner driver, can you tell me what is the source of this problem, and if we change the CI (driver) it will not be birned again
@@abdou199409 swap the coils when the engine is cooled off. Your coil may be bad but you won’t know until you move it to a different place and the computer scan should show this.
@@scrapdaddysgarage5027 yes we swap it, it is the same problem, after disbranching all coils, and keeping only the one which the cylindre fails, the electrician showed me the memory signal was in the minus of the battery

Go slow, the angle grinder with a 2 in disc is best for slowly grinding away the plastic. Just grind enough to fit the metal replacement in.
Hello! I just had this done on my Honda and now it down shifts harder? The servicer does not seem to have a clue. Can you help?
@@barbaratobin1315 that’s strange. If they disconnected the battery the computer may need time to relearn some things, or they might have left something loose by mistake.
