Sure, I'm not the fastest or chattiest of the bunch. But I like to get straight to the trail so that you might get an idea of what your experience will be like when you hit up the same trail.
My aim thus far has been to showcase the trail itself. Before I would go out on rides, I found myself looking on CZcams for videos of the trail I wanted to hit. I found that there were 3 types of videos:
1: Low quality uploads by people who could ride like me, but couldn't edit or didn't have access to the video equipment I have.
2. Videos by guys who could send the trail at Mach speeds; which made it hard for me to know how difficult the trail actually was.
3. Video blogs where the trail wasn't the focus of the video. I love following these types of channels, but sometimes I just want to cut straight to the trail riding itself.
I'm trying to find my spot, and having fun doing so.

I've Been Scared of This Trail For Years; and For Good Reason | Hangover Trail - Sedona, AZ
When I first arrived in Sedona in 2023, I had no intentions to ride the big 3 H's: High on The Hogs, HiLine, and Hangover.
I set out on my first ride down Slim Shady to Templeton and was absolutely stoked at the quality of trail. Instantly, it made sense why so many people raved about the Sedona MTB scene.
The Rock was grippy, and the geology made for clean rolling g lines between layers of rock. If you've heard of hero dirt, we'll then you might get it when I say this was hero Rock.
That year, I was able to check off The Hogs and HiLine. Both felt like real accomplishment, and I was proud of myself for riding each.
Still, I couldn't help but wonder if I was capable of riding Hangover. I had heard all kinds of stories and watched plenty of videos. But the GoPro effect is real.
I needed to see for myself. But, it would take me a year before I could build up the courage to hit it. A summer of riding in Squamish helped me gain confidence on steep rock faces, and I thought I had this in the bag.
My first attempt, however, was rather unsuccessful. My nerves got the best of me, and I bumbled my way down.
I needed redemption and found it on this ride despite the terrifying conditions.

TrailForks Doesn't always get it right. I checked out the description of this trail on the app, and saw 4 stars, so I almost skipped it. Relentlessly gnarly is the perfect way to put it! Thanks bud! The cut on the thumb healed up fine, but long term, I think I messed it up good. Maybe I'm just feeling arthritis in it now? I dunno, but it hurts while I'm biking bad enough to effect my riding. Thanks for the compliment. I feel like I'm getting better at riding, but if you could see third person perspectives of my riding, you'd see how poor my technique is! ( I don't show those angles for a reason - it's too embarrassing! ) I'm no expert. I promise. Maybe an advanced intermediate? I dunno.

Looks like a fun ride!
This one was all about mindset for me. I had a lot more fun on this lap than my first lap a few days earlier simply because I was riding better. This trail is a lot of work, and was super humbling.
I think high line is more rideable…but either is iconic
Both feel like they are hiking trails that mountain bikers can be proud to have navigated. Hangover is definitely less modified to accommodate mountain bikes. No one wants to "dumb it down" but this leaves it feeling unwelcoming to bikes.

There was a stick in that rut. My front tire hit it and turned right. I went OTB with my legs caught in the bike. I tumbled down the hill with my bike. I rode it today. I still pucker in that spot.
