introduced to this band when I looked into tommy karevik when I heard him with kamelot. this is the first song I've heard by them, so I can't really pass judgement yet but this song is pretty good. way different from kamelot, but I still like it. he kind of reminds me of Marco Hietala in this song.
I personally think the Kamelot has nothing on SW. His voice here has so much substance, but in Kamelot, all their songs vocals sound too similar, but here the vocal cords and tempo is brilliant, Tommy did a brilliant job in this band, writing all the vocals!
Best part of the song is that main vocal melodic line from Tommy, the way it changes to its main version at 0:55, the way it gradually escalates to greatness, reaching its climax in 3:19-3:36, and the amazing fills between the verse lyrics which become more complex and epic every time along with the lyrics, resulting in the amazing part at 3:00. I rarely see bands paying so much attention to their verses as well as the choruses, and SW are masterful in that, especially Karevik.
Dream Theater? Not the best song writting, Opeth is pretty meh especially in the techie realms of prog. I'd think we'd be looking to mention bands more like Control Denied, Symphony X, or how about a classic like Crimson Glory? None of this would likely exist without em. There's a whole lot of em, Misanthrope is a good one too.
