Hack Fame Megan Stalter Talks About Embracing Her Spiritual Path As A Gay Person and More
Megan Stalter's passion for the stage has always burned brightly, even during her early years when she often found herself in supporting roles. A dedicated theatre enthusiast from a young age, she embraced characters like Scragg Number Three in Li’l Abner and a one-line nun in The Sound of Music. Now, with a wealth of credits from shows like Hacks and Queer as Folk under her belt, Stalter has seized the lead in the new romantic comedy Cora Bora with enthusiasm. Before the film’s debut, the comedian visited Them’s office to discuss her approach to portraying Cora, her influences from the "cool girl" archetype, and her evolving spiritual journey. Reflecting on her relationship with God, she shared, "I was raised in church. Though I don’t attend now, I’m keen to explore inclusive churches welcoming to LGBTQ+ individuals.” She said that embracing her identity as gay has deepened her spiritual connection, allowing her to feel more integrated with herself and the world around her. She added that throughout this process, she has never felt judged by God, which contrasts with the societal pressures that can alienate individuals from their spiritual paths. She said, “It breaks my heart when people think that they can’t have that spiritual connection. I think a lot of us grew up with God or church. Then when you come out, you don’t always know if you can still have that, but it’s the people who make you feel like you cannot. I don’t believe that that’s from God."

When covid hit the Sevier County Food Bank was running out of food. Dolly Parton and the dolly family signed a $50,000 check to replenish the food bank. And was instructed that if they needed more to call and they would be back over to sign another $50,000. Dolly Parton has touched people's lives without even realizing it? It's not just her music she's a storyteller. She's a book lady. And as a queer man she has made it easier for me to live here. Because she was so accepting it changed the way others in this community Sevierville Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge have seen Queer people, she was the architect of the Tennessee promise, where after the students of Sevier County High graduated high school she would pay for 2 years of free Community College at Walter State university. Then she would give $500 for their amenities for books. Then our governor in the great state of Tennessee didn't to be overshadowed so he created the Tennessee promise. But Dolly Parton planted the seed. The one thing that liberals conservatives Republicans and Democrats can agree upon is that no one comes for Dolly Parton she is off limits. She's more Christ-like than any of those conservative Hillbillies! And let's not forget that Jesus was a liberal! In the Hebrew scripture is an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth, Jesus said love thy neighbor as thyself. Do onto others as they would have to do to you. Love thy enemy. She should be fired from the federalists. In fact the Federalists should shut its doors. Sounds like a dump paper. When Dolly Parton put her name on Silver Dollar City this town has a look back sense. And I'm sorry who died and left these conservatives jesus? Who are they to speak on the word and the relationship of christ. That is a personal thing not left up to a priest aura pastor. For Jesus said break a stick or lift a stone and ye shall find me, for they do not need a temple a brick-and-mortar to worship the.

It has often been said, "The fastest way to become an Atheist is to actually read the Bible." The added side effect is you will know what is written on those pages far better than most any Christian. The second fastest way is to pay attention to the people who claim to be Christian. Wherein hypocrisy, ignorance, intolerance and hatred run amok; and the sacred words of their savior are ignored, if it conflicts with their agenda. Although I am an Atheist, my words here are not to harm your beliefs or ridicule your faith. Yet my words are to help bring you to the most sacred words and teachings of the Bible. I ask you to please bare with me. I will try to keep this short. Much of what I will be writing, you already know. But, the question is, "How much do you really know about what it is being said?" We'll start off nice and easy... From Matthew 22, the disciples asked Jesus, "What is the greatest commandment of the law?" As you already know, Jesus said to them, "‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” If you consider the ten commandments (the ten people generally use, from Exodus 20 - and not the real ones, written by the hand of God, in Exodus 34) and apply Matt 22, which of these commandments are not covered by: 1. "Love thy lord thy God, with all you heart, mind and soul." 2. "Love they neighbor." Consider the commandments which pay reverence to God, what else is needed beyond Jesus' words? Stealing, killing, lying, cheating... if you have love for others, are you doing any of these things? Looking further into the Bible, we come across Hebrews 8 which sort of confirms Jesus' new covenant and the old covenant shall pass away. "What about god hates fags? What about my right to oppress black people? I'm not allowed to hate Muslims and Mexicans? I can't use the old testament to justify intolerance anymore?" If you are a true Christian, no, you cannot. Now we will get a little trickier... We move onto Matt 6... This is the chapter Jesus calls most Christians hypocrites and we find the, "Our Father," prayer. It is to a specific line in that prayer I would like to call attention: "Forgive us our trespasses (aka: sins, wrong-doings), AS WE FORGIVE THOSE WHO TRESPASS AGAINST US." So, let me get this str8... You are praying to your god, and asking him... begging him... to forgive you the same exact way you forgive others? To top it all off, Matt 7 starts out with doubling down on this premise, by basically saying, "Judge not, lest you shall be judged by the measure with which you judge others." Imagine being one of these people: "Okay... God... I'm an intolerant, willfully ignorant, hate-filled bigot; who has no love for anyone who does not act, think, believe and look the way I think they should... Oh, yeah, I also voted for Trump 3 times and think racial cleansing is a good idea! So God, please judge me exactly the same way I judge others." Whenever most Christians say to me, "You're going to hell," I wonder if they are aware they will be there long before me? The next line is one of the worst translations from original text, "lead us not into temptation..." God can lead people into temptation? The original 1st century Aramaic was later copied and translated to Hebrew in the 2nd century and into Greek sometime before 325 AD. But from the original scraps that do exist from the Aramaic, the line should read something like, "Let us not be lead into temptation..." As you can see, there is a big difference between these two translations. Does God lead you sin? Or does God help kept you from being lead? HUGE DIFFERENCE. Another verse that irks me is Exodus 22:18 "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live." Talk about a bastardization for original script! Think: the commandment, "Thou shalt not bare false witness." It is a person who lies, deceives, twists the truth, alters reality, create myths and illusions. The original wording was much closer to, "deceiver" (aka: liar). Somewhere between the 5th and 9th century it became something more akin to, "sorcerer." In 1611, in the KJV, for the first time, the word had changed to, "witch." In other versions you will find, "a woman who does magic," and "sorcerer," along with many versions who do use the word, "Witch." This completely changed the Biblical intent and justified some of the most horrific acts in human history. In 3rd century Greek script and even in 5th century Latin, you can find the words, "fallare," (to deceive) "medax," (basically: Liar) <-- (not to be confused with megas or magus <-- variations of sorcerer)). In your view, the Bible may be the inspired word of God, but it was written by the hand and will of man. Let's just say, "mistakes were made." But, I get it. The Bible can be complicated. It can be confusing. There are over 43,000 different Christian sects. That is over 43,000 different interpretations of the same book. It is a book which has thousands of verses you can pick and chose to justify anything you desire. Yet there is something to consider, which would make it all so very easy and not the least bit confusing. Throughout the entire book, Jesus only gives one command. Jesus teaches many things, offers advice, tells what one should or should not do. But only once does he ever give a command. (Seriously, open your Bible, start at Matt 1 and read thru to the end of Revelations, prove me wrong. Paul, Peter and others issue commands, but Jesus only offers one.) And it is a COMMAND, not a suggestion, or a parable, or something Jesus thinks is a good idea. It's is short, directly to the point and offers no exceptions for people you don't like or agree with. This is Jesus speaking: John 15:17 - "This is my command. Love each other." That's it. That is the entire message of the New Testament. That is everything in a nutshell and it applies to everyone: Christian, Jew, Hindi, Muslim, Buddhist, Pagan, Satanist and Atheist alike... LOVE EACH OTHER... PERIOD. So when it comes to the LGBTQ+ community, people of foreign origin, different skin colors or religious beliefs - or people without a religious belief - and even witches. Jesus never made any exceptions that allow for, "Well I just don't like or agree with those people." But, regardless of Jesus' own words, many, "Christians," today claim, "the whole, 'Love each other,' crap is just, 'Liberal propaganda'." Hopefully I've been at least a little bit educational and entertaining. Perhaps you can use some of this in your next church service or religious gathering.

I think the fact that he said he was wrong to say it makes it better than if he hadn't said it, because now everybody has to think about it being wrong to say that. If he hadn't said it, nobody would be thinking about that. Somebody I went to school with used to say that he believed in gender equality, but he also believed in using the b- word constantly, and his solution was to just use that to refer to both men and women, and that way it was equal in his view, even though the implication seemed to be that the men and women he was calling that were acting or dressing too feminine, and he was prejudiced against femininity rather than against women per se. That's the equivalent of agreeing with the 'who am I to judge?' comment about homosexuality but still using slurs about particular gay people. It's fine if your gay in other words, but if anybody who is gay or anybody who isn't gay starts 'acting gay' or 'dressing gay' then suddenly there's a problem no matter who it is. That's the mindset I think the Pope was expressing at the time, which he has now said was wrong. Some people really do need to hear both 'who am I to judge?' and 'it was wrong of me to use that slur'. It isn't enough for them to just hear the first one, because they keep using the slurs against particular people anyway until you have the second conversation as well. If it wasn't for Pope Francis nobody would be having that second conversation, and now a lot of people are having that conversation.

It's healed every person who's ever been put in full geesh. They come out of it more whole than they've ever been. RuPail is my hero because of the message he's sending to scared, isolated kids just trying to figure things out in a place where who they are is seen as an abomination. Not a fan of religion, my faith lies in humans. Humans with open minds, open hearts and open arms. Drag artists are not who or what most think they are. They're some of the kindest, most generous and most talented humans I've ever experienced. There are not a lot of groups I'd leave a couple little kids woth for a day. I'd hand them over to a bunch of drag queens in a heartbeat. Because THEY GET IT. They know how to to be kind and gentle and nurturing. Sure, there are some who avoid children like the plague but they'd be on the other side of the room as far from them as possible so no worries. The nurturers will outnumber them greatly. They might learn a few words but that isn't going to hurt them (after pre and follow up conversations with mom to quash all use of those words by them. I have no fear of their physical or mental harm. They know what it's like to be hurt as a child and they would never allow it. I'm such a huge fan of the art and artists of drag! Wish I could afford to add HBO to my other sibscriptions. It's an expensive one for a disabled senior. I LOVE those particular queens as hosts, tho. No one comes to the Father except through me (John 14:6). ...for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of Hayah (Romans 3:23). The wages for sin is death but the gift of ALaHYM is Everlasting Life through Messiah Yahushgh our Master (Romans 6:23). That if you confess with your mouth the Master Yahushgh and believe in your heart that ALaHYM raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved (Romans 10:9). He Himself is an Atoning Offering for our sins, and not for ours only but also for all the world (1 John 2:2).

So, in other words, according to you four, Christianity is whatever you want it to, which means its meaning is subjective. How do you rationalize your meaning of Christianity and what Jesus said: "I am the way, the truth, and the light. No one comes to the Father except through me."

“Gay-Christian” and “later in life”shouldn’t go together if you’re a Christian.

Being gay is based on who you are attracted to, which is based on feelings. So, are you saying that your present feelings, something that you have no control over, are sinful? If so, what does one do if one is a Christian and attracted to the same sex? Should one lie about those feelings or just be honest about them, and when one is honest, does that mean that one has no hope and is destined to be in hell for all eternity?

One is christian because they were indoctrinated to believe in imaginary creatures. One does NOT "..become.." gay "later in life". One is gay or one is not gay.

"But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them-bringing swift destruction on themselves." 2 Peter 2:1
