Giacomo Merchi - Minuetto 5 from Op. 3 (Guitar Score Video)
The original score contains repeats after every section, but I edited out the ones that I don't take to avoid confusion.
Giacomo Merchi (1730-1789) was an Italian guitarist active throughout Europe. He mainly composed songs with guitar accompaniment, duets for two guitars and guitar solo works. He played a 5 course guitar of which the first string was single, the second and third in unison courses, and the fourth and fifth in octave courses. He was the first to use staff notation instead of tablature in a Paris guitar publication. Merchi declared tablature to be an "abuse" and asserted that "those who only know tablature cannot truly play, and accompany only by routine and without balance".
He did not limit himself to the five-course guitar. He and his brother played the calichonchini (also called calasoncini) in a duo. The Calichonchini was a type of guitar with a long neck and two strings tuned in fourths. He and his brother received acclaim for their abilities on this instrument. He also played the newly invented Neapolitan mandolin, but his favorite instrument seems to have been the five-course guitar, as most of his 38 publications after settling in Paris include the instrument.
Thanks to "The Guitar and Its Music from the Renaissance to the Classical Era" by James Tyler and Paul Sparks for the biographical information.

Charles Eulenstein - Rondo 2 from Op. 10 (Guitar Score Video)

A rondo by Charles Eulenstein (1802-1890). This comes from his Op. 10, "3 Rondos for the Spanish Guitar", which was published in London and is dedicated to the guitarist Johann Abraham Nüske. Music: imslp.org/wiki/Special:ReverseLookup/656155 Reupload to fix an audio problem.
Ernest Shand - Gavotte, Op. 69 No. 1 (Guitar Score Video)
zhlédnutí 175Před 4 hodinami
Ernest Shand (1868-1924) wrote some very jovial guitar music. I think of it almost like an English version of Tarrega's. I can't hit the fortissimos as loud as I would like. My 200 year old guitar is quite sensitive to buzzes. I recorded this before, but was very unhappy with the result. I am slightly happier with this one :) Chapters: 0:00 A 1:07 B 1:58 A
A. Gretchaninoff - Après le bal, Op.98 No.13 (Guitar Tab)
zhlédnutí 389Před 9 hodinami
My arrangement and performance of a nice little mazurka from Gretchaninoff. It is No. 13 from his Livre d'enfants (Children's book), Op. 98. The titles of the book itself and each piece are in German, English, French and Russian. I decided to title my arrangement in French because that is the language that I discovered this work under. "The purpose of this lesson is to facilitate the binding of thirds and sixths." (My translation from the German.) I also found it to be a good exercise in emphasizing the inner voices. music: imslp.org/wiki/24_Leçons_progressives,_Op.31_(Sor,_Fernando)
Fernando Sor - Mouvement de prière religieuse, Op. 31 No. 23 (Score Video)
zhlédnutí 188Před 14 hodinami
This version is titled "Mouvement de prière religiense", which is wrong! "Religiense" should be "Religeuse" (French). This version was published in Berlin, so I guess the Germans made a mistake while setting the type. Sorry about the static. Played on a Lacôte model guitar from ~1830s tuned to A = 424Hz.

This is my arrangement of this little waltz by Chopin. It is originally in Eb major, but I have transcribed it to C major. Sorry for the poor quality recording. I am working on my recording skills. I encourage you to please record your own version of this arrangement! I know someone out there can play it much better than me, and I honestly think it would sound better on a modern instrument. Felix Horetzky - Scotch Air (Weird Guitar Piece)
zhlédnutí 302Před dnem
I found this strange piece in Horetzky's collection of 60 airs. It feels utterly incomplete, as if it is an error of the publisher. This can't be what Horetzky intended! It's incredibly short, especially with no written repeats. Furthermore, it ends on the DOMINANT (V) which, you may or may not know, functionally tends to lead us to the tonic (I) to close a phrase. The piece is begging to take ...

Francisco Tárrega - Coral de Haendel (Score Video)

Georg Friedrich Handel supposedly wrote this chorale which, as far as we know, survives only in the form of this guitar arrangement by Francisco Tárrega. This piece was never published during Tárrega’s life, but posthumous editions title this arrangement “Coral de Haendal” (Chorale of Handel), or simply “Chorale”. The first known copy was drawn by Miguel Llobet and is titled "Motivo de Haendel ...

@@nikolaz5277 thank you so much!
Beautiful.
thanks! I’m happy you enjoyed it.
Brilliant playing and feel as always!
thank you kind sir!
Oh really !! Just that you sound well trained and know the instrument! Maybe you got lots of lessons !!? Did I see here on your channel you offering lessons?or maybe that was elsewhere I saw that 🤔
Well you ve def inspired me to practice again listening to this beautiful composition! Any plans to record the other two Rondo s ?😊
@@AlanMcCarthyguitar I’m happy to hear that. I’ve recorded No. 2 (here on my channel) and plan to record No. 3 sometime.
So you not American?are you professional player ?
@@AlanMcCarthyguitar i am American. Not a professional. Very amateur, but I’m trying to be the best I can be.
Very nice ! You play very well indeed ! Where are you based ?
@@AlanMcCarthyguitar thank you! I am currently in the United States… Alabama, to be more specific.
Thank you for tabbing it out :)
You're welcome! I hope you enjoy playing it.
Lovely
I heard the piece 1/2 ton under what is actually write.. is it the case ? Or maybe a pitch tune in 415 Hz?
yes, I am tuned down a whole step for this recording.
very very nice
this is gas bro
Great playing, thank you!
thanks for listening!
Wonderful playing as always! Every video just gets better and better! Bravo 🎉
agreed!
Nice! What kind of guitar are using in this recording?
thanks! I'm using an English romantic guitar that dates approximately to the 1830s. It's based on Lacôte's build, and was likely built by a French emigree. Spruce top, maple back & sides, ebony neck. Tuned to A=424 Hz.
@@RomanticGuitarist19 Awesome, I thought it sounded more like a romantic era style guitar compared to a more modern classical guitar!
It sounds really good!
thank you!
im a musical noob, i want to traspose this to harmonica :/
you can do it! steal my notes. you can plug the melody into musescore and transpose it to any key with tools->transpose. idk anything about harmonica but it might be easier if you steal my music. sorry for the late response…
@@RomanticGuitarist19 I tried with different musescore version, tried all harmonica plugins but no way. thanks anyways
Love this game!

Beautiful. Really, really noce. I think you can make the harmonies sing more. A rare critique, but your melody might be too loud here.
thanks for the kind words and the critique. i’ll consider it next time i play this piece.
Masterful playing and excellent feel! Well done
Es una piecita muy bella. La vengo tocando por años y nunca me cansa.
가타연주소리가 너무 아름답고 멋져요😊 섬세하면서도 깊은 소리입니다. 정말 좀아요

Your rendition of this song is beautiful. Thank you.
Magnifique! Expressive and deep performance ! 👏👏👏

Nice. Now I know where the Beatles got the main idea for Blackbird.
I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX
Beautiful
!!!!!!!! nice .
esta melodia es muy linda, recuerdo haberla interpretado hace bastante.
