Treating mild to moderate depression with antidepressants or the overuse of ADHD meds in children can certainly be debated. But how does Tom propose to treat an acute and severe episode of schizophrenic or bipolar disorder, for example. Of course, psychiatric conditions are multifaceted, but psychiatric medications and other treatments such as ECT, are surely better than locking people up in asylums? Modern psychiatry is based on scientific evidence and is constantly progressing.
