Thanks so much for this video! Based upon your outline I turned down a MY18 XC90 T6 today. It had a leaking sunroof seal, evident oil leak at the crankshaft side, jerky gearbox with oil residues (of note, 2 flushes within 70K kilometers…) and faulty emission codes pointing to the supercharger seal problem. This prevented me from buying a way overpriced car that glittered, but was not all golden. Thanks again!

Great channel,Great tutorials. Bought my wife a dis-inflationary 10-XC90 3.2 .The 10th day of ownwershio it started the upset that would be identifiedas typical bad Alternator. It was not but engine gear bolt just sitting in the cavity .The alternator appears new . The process was complete ,red loctite was attempted, but other little things were not done. +didnt let loctite set +didnt hold gear on bolt torgue tightening sequence +used old, exsisting bolt IT was running fine for 6 days 2nd repair +Bolt out again, gear spinning freely +Gear was held +Old Bolt was used & tighten again It was runnning for another 6 days 3rd repair +New bolt(green loctite used) +Gear held tight & (Held on bolt torque) +Lettng loctite set 12hours+ Car will be started up tommorrow mid morning Job was completed 2hours two men,3rd same project. 1st time 3hours+ any idea's or guidance?

Hi VolvoGuy, I have a 2011 Volvo S80 with the B4204T6 2.0L turbo engine, and I’m facing a potential issue with detonation that might be affecting the fourth cylinder. From what I’ve researched, the engine is prone to piston damage due to detonation, and I’m wondering if it could be caused by miscalibration or an outdated ECU firmware. Could you provide any advice on how to check if my ECU firmware is up to date, and whether this could be linked to the detonation issue? Also, have you seen any similar issues with this engine, and what might be the best way to fix or prevent this? Thanks for your help!

Got my wife a vovo xc 60. Long story short it says 80000 on dash. After we bought the vehicle for we realized that my wife got one of those lnow of carfax so we got a reg carfax and the mileage is 18000,i didn't even realize that was possible. The car didn't start on fri and said low voltage so i had a shop put a battery in. I didn't think the engine sounded quite right and asked them about it and the woman told me u did not ask us to diagnose the engine. I was just asking for an option if i needed that but she just blew me off. I'm trying to get it into another shop but there all weeks out. If i sent you a video of it running could u just tell me if it sounds right,i know its hard on video but it would be something til i get it in. Any help would be much appreciated,im just trying to keep the wife happy

YEP...we were a victim of #6 on our 2013 S60 T6. Due to tight spaces, and an exceptionally uncooperative hose connection, it was a nightmare to replace. But I only spent $255 (including buying a new floor jack) to do it myself versus $1,200 to have the local dealership do the work!

Hi @TheVolvoGuy, sorry to repost. My 2015 V60 T6 is burning oil so I purchased new pistons. Trouble is, they supplied the same ones as those I removed. The oil control ring is bigger then the one you show but smaller then the new replacement you show. I'd be very interested to know the Volvo part number for the piston and rings you purchased to replace the original piston. Thank you.

Hi VolvoGuy, thank you for this awesome video! This is the first proper summary I've seen so far. Unfortunately my XC90 T6 2016 blows out blueish, greyish smoke randomly. I swapped the engine last year: shitty piston rings and faulty oil level sensor lead to fatal engine failure. The used engine that was installed has a maximum mileage of 50.000. First guess was turbo seals, axle, etc...but turbo seems to be fine...no oil in the hoses...no noise...no power leakage etc. Second guess: piston rings - again. But borings look fine (engine was endoscoped)...Compression test perfect....spark plugs clean. Now my third guess is the PCV: Although I heard that some vacuum is normal / good (glove test) I experience that my oil cap is literally sucked in like hell, when I try to open it with the engine running. If I disconnect the main PCV hose, the oil cap starts "dancing" on top of the PCV and I get a low to medium vacuum. The air filter is more or less clean. Do you think my PCV is failing or starting to fail? Or do you have any other solution? Best regards and thank you very much in advance!

Thanks for the tutorial; worked for my 2029 Volvo V60 CC. A couple of things to note : - after turning the clips to release the cover with the hose, there are snap-in clips on each end that can/should be undone by inserting a flat head screwdriver and pushing them out - it’s much easier to put the new filter in if the cover is removed from the hose. It’s the same Torx bit to unscrew it.
