Good on ya, car is coming up 👍 Don’t give haters any thought space.
Hey up mate hope this cyclone is being kind to you, just found your channel tonight think I've watched four vids. Like what you are doing and looking forward to the nex one
Gday mate, yeah wasn't too bad just a few trees down. I have a cool update coming soon, just waiting on the humidity to calm down a bit before it can be done. cheers mate.
Great video mate very informative and gee the ole ford is looking mint 👌
G'day mate, yep finally seeing results. Cheers.
Really good stuff mate, nice work you deserve what you now have, well done. 👍
Thanks mate, much appreciated, we all work hard and we get what we deserve.💪
Good on you mate. Made lots of progress on the XY. Looking forward to seeing the next update.
Cheers Rob. treating it like a full-time job really got me over the line on this one.
@@barefootrestos yeh it's a slow process doing it on weekends. I have long service leave so maybe something I can do at some point when I'm ready
Nice work Mate it’s coming along well. :-)
Thanks mate, starting to see the light Ha Ha. Cheers
Awesome work man fuck the haters there just envious of what you have done. Keep up the fantastic work.
Yeah your right mate, Cheers
Gunman spray suit
thought I better give him some support. He has been a good mentor
Having problems removing rear bumper
Yep, bolts were rusted
Nice video mate good detail of products and progress 👍🏼
Thanks mate, are we going to see any more uploads from you?
@barefootrestos soon just started the ZJ rust work have been restoring a Toyota 4runner and getting my Brock back in the road and just got all the glass in the VL this week and waiting on lots of parts so hopefully next week I should have one out.
It is coming along very nicely and very quickly, winter is a lovely time of year in Australia to work on cars. have a lovely week. kind regards, Andrew.
I have taken 3 months off work to get stuck into it, its amazing how much can be achievedwhen working on it full time. I see your ute is coming along nicely too. Thanks Andrew.
Be careful to listen to what Sylvester says and does. I have noticed a couple of things he says and does is inaccurate.
Ok thanks Darrell, I did have some issues with his sand blasting videos, I don't think that's one of his strong points. must admit I'm taking bits of his advice and applying it to my own methods, my background is bridge works and I have a fair bit of experience with protective coatings so I'm focusing on getting the most out of the coatings and just trying to get a good finish with the limited experience I have with body work. Thanks for the advice much appreciated.
Fantastic work, definitely the right way to build cars. Good tips for everyone and even experienced people. I remember doing those doors when i was panel beating, lower section is very hard to shrink to get the oil canning out. Valiants are similar to repair. Just rebuilding my wifes 67 impala that was supposed to be %95 restored. Ha,ha, windscreen channel didnt exist and the lower cowl you can put your hand through. Flippers, never send your stupid fat barsted father in law to look at cars. Devilbiss Flg is a great gun. Not wrong, dont use cheap guns or tools. Did that when i was an apprentice, waste of money and makes more work. Just bought 2 Flg guns , great value for money. Keep up the videos mate , makes me want another Zd fairlane.
Thanks mate, good luck with your build, sounds like a fair bit of work. The right tool for the job is definitely important, the paint gun has made a big difference. Cheers.
Also, I really like impala's, cheers.
Looking good mate. Enjoyed seeing how you do things. Looking forward to the next video.
Thanks Rob. I have taken some long service leave so I'm getting stuck Into it.
Good to see another update on the Yski. I'm not a fan of those wheels but i'm sure will look awesome when done. Keep up the great work mate and the honesty !! Cheers.
Yeah I'm not real keen on the front runners but they will do until I can afford something different. Cheers mate
@@barefootrestos I wasn't putting a downer on it, I'm sure you'll make it look good either way. Great that you go to the effort of filming these builds. Anything XW or XY now has a GT tax imposed on it. Keep at it, i'm learning too from you.
You have got very good solid body's compared to what you see in Sydney 👌
Yeah we have some good some bad, I have bought some good and bad also but now I'm giving them a good look over before I buy them to save some work. Cheers mate sorry for the delayed reply.
GREAT JOB!💥💪
Thanks mate much appreciated
Bare Foot Legend oi oi oi,,,,, doing a great job mate, I'm really enjoying watching and learning what you do. Cheers
Aussie Aussie Aussie, cheers mate
Hi mate, are they a Rare Spares sill panel? Thanks.
G'day, nope they are from a lad on ebay, if you search ford xy sill repair panel they should come up. $80 each plus postage.
@@barefootrestos Thanks mate. Found him. Much appreciated.
Red dirt car just like my old XE. Nice job on that 1/4, just did the same with mine and it warped too. Subbed
Thanks Mate, appreciate the support, big fan of the XE, my olds had a s pac wagon back in the day.
@@barefootrestos that’s what I’m working on, an S Pack wagon.
Gday mate I just discovered your channel I just finished my XY Ute a couple of weeks ago, I didn’t even think to film any videos of the build process but my brother and I replaced both inner and outer sills both torque boxes and removed the plenum repaired rust and refitted I posted a couple of very short videos of the finished product. Cheers mate.
G'day mate, yeah I wanted to document the build initially but I'm getting a little side tracked so I think I may need to get back in my lane a little, so maybe some changes coming with my videos soon, your ute looks great, soo much better once there painted hey? Cheers mate.
Hey mate, great job that sil looks spot on nice and clean, and thanks for the shout-out again, and will return the favour soon 👍🏼
No worries
Great work mate.
Thank you! Cheers!
Great update. Looking forward to seeing your progress. Will be a great car when finished.
Thanks mate, not real pretty at the moment, but that's about to change. Cheers

Learnt my lesson on my XT GT years ago, replace the whole sill. Valiants same thing. Easiest way ,cut the sill off at the bend under the doors. Sit the new sill over screw it in . Check it's close and tack it in. Metal is 1mm thick under the doors , will never notice it's got a sill lip over it. I do them all the same. Quicker and no warps .
I am struggling with time at the moment but will be finishing both sills and the torque boxes over the christmas break. will do my best to get you an update shortly. cheers mate, by the way mopar is on my bucket list.
@@barefootrestos I know what you mean mate , never time for anything. Water was leaking through the windscreen on the wife's 67 impala all over the fuse box and things stop working. Pulled the front clip off and the windscreen out. Nothing but filler and bit of metal glued in the channel. Hinge pillars and lower cowl was a mess to. Supposed to be fully restored, I've had to rebuild the whole car , her idiot father went to look at it and said it's perfect. It didn't even have brakes ,nothing worked . Just a wreck with a coat of black paint and new interior. Even the brake lines were so bad they leaked . Car flippers for sure. Rebuilt everything and put disc brakes on now just the rusted out windscreen channel and cowl. No time but has to be done. Now I know why the whole family hates her old man. Ha,ha,
Beautiful work and what a great beast they are . I'm a Mopar guy but I love these old Ford's.
I subbed just because you do great work and it's helping people learn. Haven't had an old Ford for 30 years . Sold my Xt GT and bought a Chrysler regal se in 1990 . Still drive the regal se but it a hot 360 . Please drop a Cleveland in this XY , they're a great engine.
Thanks Peter, yes it is getting a Cleveland, looks like being a 393 all said and done, just waiting on the US/AUS dollar to improve to get bang for buck. Im keen to get my hands on a wagon myself.
@@barefootrestos I put a 351 Cleveland in my Xt GT, great engine. Really went well, only trouble I had was the Bosch ignition modules went sometimes. Too right about our dollar, when I built the 360 I had everything sent over and our dollar was the same as the US dollar. Freight was cheap to, even had the heads sent over. The Cleveland will fly , you'll have fun with that beast.
Excellent work mate , the warped panels happens to us all no matter what we do. Just building a CM regal wagon, had to make new quarter panels. They were way beyond repair, 100 mm of filler around the tail lights and paper thin. One thing I hate is shrinking panels , always pisses me off. Nice work mate and glad to see an Xy built right . Love Xys and who doesn't.
Gday Peter, thanks for all the comments, it doesnt seem to matter what we do, we always get warping, im a fairly patient guy but it is testing sometimes.
@@barefootrestos so true ,no matter how slow we weld the warping still happens . This wagon had no rust even the tailgate is perfect. Just heaps of damage and bad work from panel shops. Just want a mild daily driver so won't do too much to the 318 .
Great video and great work mate! Loved it.
Hi Peter, thank you.
Ge you got a rough head
nice well done i just sub ed in i got xw white red in
G'day Bill, thanks mate. Enjoy the xw, love these cars
I’ve have recently stumbled upon these Aussie resto videos. So many cool muscle cars we Americans never got to see before.
Gday Mate, Im really enjoying the resto content online myself, check out "cars and things resto's" they pump out some cool cars. cheers
Good vid 👌👍i have a xy and have looked at them sill panels but i was a bit unsure about the fitment but watching your vid they seem good
Gday Steven, there not bad for the price, next episode I will share a little bit of an insight into these sills, they're not a perfect fit really and do need some encouragement to look right.
@@barefootrestos i have seen that with some of the repo stuff needing a bit of an adjustment to get right, look forward to the next vid 👍
cool you can buy so many patch panels for them. Must be a huge market to justify tooling up for that. Nice skills too mate. Good work.
G'day mate, yep certainly is nice having access to repair panels, hopefully it means more cars are being repaired and saved. Cheers bloke.

Hi Travis, I have started watching your channel and I am very much enjoying it. looking forward to seeing the progress on the XY. Kind regards Andrew. 😊
Hi Andrew, thanks for your support, much appreciated.
I love your honesty mate!
Cheers mate.
Good work, what Unimig settings were you using for the lower rear qtr rust sections ?👍
Gday Wayne, for the butt welds on the thin panels I typically start with the settings guide provided with the welder then make subtle changes as I go to fine tune, Im using 0.6mm wire by the way, and as for the plug welding I will have to check as it varies depending on if im welding the torque box compared to the floor bracing, varies due to the thickness. what I will do is add my welder settings to the next episode. on a side note, one of my roles at work is to inspect welding and one of the most important things is weld penetration, so I make sure I'm achieving good weld penetration also, that's why I fine tune the welder settings. thanks mate. cheers
Hey mate Greg from ORESTO'S GARAGE great to see a ford getting restored great job mate 👍🏼
Gday Greg, yeah i love my Falcon. cheers.
I love watching your progress bringing the XY back to life. Please keep up the great work.
Thanks Ray, it's coming along nicely. I have some big developments coming soon, keen to share that in future episodes. 🍻 cheers.
I'm looking forward to your videos on your Falcon build! I also picked up a couple of very good condition Falcons XY out of MT ISA about 16 years ago! One was a factory quick silver Fairmont with a red interior and the other was a teal glow 250 2V T-Bar auto Fairmont with factory white roof saddle interior and factory fitted GT tear drop mirror with remote to drivers side.! It had the owners manual and log book. It was sold new in Townsville and ended up in the ISA and also was a Brisbane built car a JH model. Cheers
I was living out at Rangewood at the time and now live in Brisbane! Plenty of good cars getting around Townsville back then! I can remember seeing a mint Monza green GTHO Phase three around 1999 from memory, out the front of the old Lounds Pro tackle shop in South Townsville! I was talking to the owner and he said he just paid $90,000 for the car off the previous owner who lived in Mackay. Another car worth noting from memory, was a shell yellow GTHO Phase three as well. Cheers
Gday Jason, couple of great pickups there, I worked in Mt Isa back in 1998-99 at the time the local car dealer had a red HQ Monaro on the floor, like new restoration for $20,000. If only i had the coin. I recently missed an opportunity to buy a blue XY SA Fairmont GT that was in Einasleigh for $50,000. that's why I ended up with the Falcon. still dreaming of the day i stumble on an Aussie GT in a paddock or shed. cheers
@@barefootrestos If only we all had the coin and storage at the right time and place!! Not sure if he is still about in Townsville these days? A fellow by the name of Roby Woods, who was in the drag racing seen, used to wheel and deal in XY XW falcon parts and cars etc. There was a fellow who had a paddock full of old fords just of Black River Road on 5 acres. Hopefully some were rescued as they would be stuffed by now. Cheers
Thanks for sharing never get sick of these Ford Restos keep up the good work
Thanks Russel👍
Sadly soon all combustion cars and trucks including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Car washs will be forbidden too because they are climate killers, now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime.!!! (BABVVEN & TEBBVEN & BEFVO laws)!
Yeah we won't have that problem here for a while, certainly not in my lifetime, Australia is heavily reliant on combustion engines from agriculture to transport and tourism.
That really stinks old mate. If it gets to that here I will just sit in it in my driveway and rev the shit out of it
@@StarlightWorkshop0z yeah sadly China is behind this they want to sell billions of electric vehicles and lithium
Hi everyone, I have knocked out a fair bit of work on the falcon lately, episode 7 will get you up to date with where the car is currently at, so keep an eye out for that in coming weeks. Cheers ya bloody legends.
Making some good progress mate. Looking forward to the next update.
Cheers Rob, keen to see how your going with your build mate.
Hey, Great channel and keep the content flowing, great work also. Take look at Peter Anderson’s channel, I am sure this will help you with your XY rebuild. Cheers
G'day, yeah thanks, I have been learning a lot from Peter. Cheers
Keep it up mate keen to see more of the build.
