Top 5 Tips for Working at Home
zhlédnutí 408Před 4 lety
During this lockdown, I've had a few people reach out to me seeking tips for working from home. My home has been my primary work location for almost 10 years, so I've had some time to develop a system that works well for me. Because a lot of people are facing this new challenge, I decided to make a video detailing a few things that help me. Some tips are pretty basic and some offer a different ...
Be creative every day challenge: 2019 edition
zhlédnutí 296Před 4 lety
I don’t have much of a perspective on 2019 yet, but making this video reminded me of how fun and often crazy the year was. I traveled as much as I could and aimed to do something creative everyday, which was difficult. UDB grew in a huge way, I got new personal projects off the ground, and I got to do almost all of it with great friends and family. I had a lot of fun making this video, but I’m ...
Why Supporting Musical Organizations Is Important

Instagram: lukecgall A few years ago, I interviewed Christopher Martin, principal trumpet of the New York Philharmonic, as part of a project I was working on with the Dallas Winds. They hired me to create media for their Kickstarter campaign to record an album of all John Mackey music. Over the course of several weeks, I made about a dozen videos for the campaign, some of which we...

Summers are always a bit crazy. Ultimate Drill Book is supporting tens of thousands of marchers worldwide, consulting and writing is in full swing, and media creation is at its peak. To put it all in perspective, I love to create videos that look back on some of my favorite moments during the season. 50,000 miles, 27 flights, 16 countries, and 2 instances of people in bubbles are all represente...
Star Wars + Christmas

Last week, I came across an old music file that was a Christmas video idea I had for FivE a few years ago. Considering the timing, I decided to give myself 24 hours to try to finish the idea, record the music, and shoot a video. I thought it’d be fun to share the result. Instagram: lukecgall

What model of euphonium is that? I am looking to buy a better one, what would you recommend?
as a french horn player, i refuse to disassemble the rotary valves.
the shape of my bell is different Sincerely, a percussionist
Why am I here? I play the flute😭
Yeah use a steel hammer and Brasso and some balloons. Good luck idiot…………. 😂
DONT GET UR FELTS WET PLEASE :)
French horn players must unwind their instrument before doing this cleaning process.
ironic how i also play a similiar looking tuba, and i play in a drumcorps
A 4 Valve Euphonium. Hetman makes good Tuning Slide Oil.
Would have been more helpful to show us with a camera and lens in the case.
This unironically is the best tutorial to clean an instrument I've seen.
Hey Luke, I was wondering if there was a reason behind why you kept the slides out while polishing? Was it simply because they weren’t cleaned yet or is there something regarding the polish to watch out for like how it could be harder for the polish to reach the middle of the horn area? And should I be concerned with covering the lead pipe as well as the tuning trigger? I just recently bought the same horn you have in this video and I love it! Thanks for the awesome resource!
This video helped me in high school . I went from cleaning my own horn, to cleaning the entire brass lines horns… including sousas/tubas. I made a small fortune doing that haha
Every brass instrument
I don't know why I watched this -- I'm a percussionist lmao. This was still really interesting, though. Might send it to some band friends.
anybody else get red chunks on your silver instrument after spraying haggerty?
yes i think its tarnish?
Bro this is not a baritone it’s a euphonium get it ROGHT
bro it’s his instrument so he knows and also tell me how you know it’s a baritone or euphonium because im betting you’re incorrect and i want you to know how to know
@@JHCMPR It is a euphonium, but they are very similar. Baritone are from different areas, but are slightly slimmer, and more round. Baritones are shaped closer to a Wagner tuba. Many players use the names interchangeably, especially if in marching band, since you march with a marching baritone, and use a euphonium for concert season.
Is Hagerty's only for a silver plated instrument? How about an instrument that is brass with a lacquer top coat?
Is it safe to follow all of these steps for a sousaphone?
I dont know why im here. I play tenor saxophone
Why am i watching this? I don't even have a brass instrument.
What instrument is that? I play french horn and accordion.
Euphonium
oh hey, a CZcams tutorial found randomly in my recommended that I have a chance of actually using. Nice.
my tuba can fit in the bath right?
*laughs in clarinet player*
Is not a horn or baritone, it is a euphonium
GOOD 👏
How much does all that cost
I played an Tenor Trombone in Jr high and high school. Our teacher told us about soaking in a bath tub. It worked great. Then I bought a step up baritone trombone and it was stolen. I am still praying and trying to find it and get it back, In really miss my large bore 'bone. Pray for me that it will be found and returned to me. Thanks...
Hope you find it
What is the instrument uses ROTARS?
Would this also work on trombones?
Many of the steps would! You might choose a different polish based on the finish of your instrument, but most everything else would work.
🔥💪🏼
My drum corps days are where I also learned to clean a horn.
Can you just put the slides back in before using the spray polish thus eliminating the need for the balloons and also polishing the shiny outer part of the slides?
Yep! You can do that. It still might get in the cracks a little bit, but it's not a huge deal.
Excelent
Of course!
Those soaking periods are way over the top. I simply use my brush and some warm soapy water, then rinse throughly under the tap. It’s all done well in a couple of minutes. Hint: use a slightly heavier oil on the threads, just a drop will do. That will prevent sticking the next time you go to unscrew the caps.
as a double bassist, i will be using this soon, thank you :)
Man, that’s really neat! Glad to see your return; I was a young musician at a Texas camp you helped teach a few years back, and I remember watching your cleaning tutorial! I hope your work inspires others like it did for me. God bless you!
Good Luck!
Thank you for sharing. Just subbed from your cleaning video. I'm excited to get a new horn. Cheers!
When I was in high school, I mistakenly used vegetable oil to lubricate the valves and tuning elbows. Huge mistake. I had no idea vegetable oil goes rancid. i wish I had this video to help me clean out that mess. I can't remember what I did but I'd guess it wasn't as good as the tips in this video.
Can I use the Hagerty's spray for my golden baritone? Or is it just for silver?
here i am watching this while knowing that i have no bath tub
This is a really useful tutorial! I might try this with my violin too 😂😊
Don’t forget_wash it down with water😂😂😂😂
Why i cannot connect with my android phone
Will it work on wood wind
You can also get a chemical bath at instrument repair shops. A 50- 100 dollars. This will clean your instrument "professionally"
My Low Brass instructor in High School was an old school DCI guy and he always had a mandatory clean and polish party before competitions and this really took me back. It was backbreaking work cleaning a whole contrabass but man that thing was pretty when I was done.
