Common sense would say that they're not going to go pounding on the doors during your 10 hour break but they can follow you into a truck stop to perform a inspection. States like Maryland have a law where you cannot be parked on the on or off ramps of the highway therefore you will be ticketed. DOT can knock on your door to have you move if you are not safely parked (on/off ramps of rest areas). They hit us truck drivers hard because a person can virtually become a millionaire in a year and it's a bottom feeder job no one's going to college to learn how to be a millionaire truck driver you can come straight out of prison and be a millionaire and they don't like that

They don't want truck drivers to be able to make a living and why someone in motor vehicle job can not do their job I lost my license because the computer would not give me appointment after many phone calls I was told just come down next day I did I was told the computer are down after I explained my time I almost over or that day was the last day the lady at the information said come back two weeks so then they are making me take the whole test over at 64 years old

As a young man these policies are what have kept me away from trucking. Genuinely think I'd enjoy it as a career, but these outdated policies make it not worth it. I dont really drink, maybe have one a week when out at dinner, but I like to use pot to help me sleep and unwind after a long day. We know that its not any worse for you that alcohol, and that theres no hangovers or withdrawal, but yet its still a big deal for some reason. Very frustrating.

Im a trucker myself. With that being said you live a far more interesting life than i do. Good job on becoming a doctor too i cant imagine myself having the patience to go to school for that. I like some of the sports you mentioned doing im trying to get into better physical shape for my own reasons. Its neat to see you got back in trucking. Once its in your blood man it stays there one way or another.

Owning a home or car is a great opportunity for folks to self -educate on how to do more hands-on work for themselves. It isn’t just a money saving deal: Half the “pros” in both industries (automotive and home repair contracting) are under-qualified charlatans. They can really ruin a basic repair. Among the pros you might pay/hire, there’s a clear difference in quality of work, attention to detail, and just “giving a s***” about what they put their name to. Empowering yourself to do beginner jobs yourself, and slowly investing in basic, essential tools goes a long way. You also made a great point about “learning the lingo” and becoming better able to communicate and understand the industry terms. Speaking as a career auto worker of 22yrs with high standards for workmanship, and high passions for constantly learning new and useful skills. 🍻 ✌️

Sad that immediate family believes this is all doom and gloom and it can't be true. The Cascadia is not top tier I have worked in the Freightliner plant in Cleveland North Carolina all they care about the margin that don't care about workmanship. How many can we get out in one week that's all they care about do you want a real truck look somewhere else😮😮😮

I don't like wheel covers because they will delay you from seeing a wheel seal leak. A long time ago while going through TX I had a wheel seal fail on a trailer (right side), the spindle super heated, the set of dual wheels separated, went across the highway (around the back of the trailer), hit a three day old trailer going the other direction and then almost hit a passenger car which if the duals did, they would have destroyed that car along with the occupants. Ever since then I strongly avoid driving or pulling anything with wheel covers.
